Chapter 232: Su Mian

"Before things got started for our new round performance, we would like to acknowledge the infinite spirit to give courage to every trainee that still stood in this competition after a series of challenges." The familiar voice from a female sounded around the venue. Cheers were also returned from the enthusiastic audience and after some seconds, the competition round officially started.

"With this round begins, please welcome the most awaited performances for our ten duo’s! Randomizer, please select the first pair."

Everyone in the audience stared at the giant randomizer floating above with nervousness. Most of them are holding something to represent the trainees they adored and just by waiting, they couldn’t help but feel anxious but also anticipation. They just couldn’t wait to see the fruit of their favorite’s effort.

No matter what, one thing is sure that they will definitely support and cheer for them!

The first duo to perform is Shen Lou and Han Suwen who had the theme about ’Romance’. The lights on the venue once again went out, letting the darkness surround.

Then slowly above the ceiling, dark clouds start to emerge. It crawls above them as if a bad ominous is coming. There was also silence among the audience as they stared at the scenery. Even as if breathing lightly cannot disturb the unknown that’s slowly unfolding in front of them.

Until the entire venue is covered with it, afterwards as a soft piano starts to play, in the middle of the stage the clouds slowly move backward, revealing a large bright white full moon. It was larger and closer as if the moon was just standing not far away from everyone. And with the soft mellow ringing as if it’s just beside their ears, it produces something very mysterious and breathtaking.

Shen Lou and Han Suwen also appeared on stage separately. Two square holes popped up on stage with a long distance between them.

Shen Lou was wearing a black robe with some dark red lining under the cloth beneath the skirt, appearing from the dark side. In contrast, Han Suwen was wearing a white robe with silver laces around which appeared to spark under the bright light from the moonlight.

The two stood far away with their backs facing each other and the audience couldn’t clearly see the expression on their faces.

It was only when a spotlight lit up on Han Suwen and he started singing that they finally saw a different emotion on his face. Usually, Han Suwen always wore a flirtatious expression with his fox-like eyes. The peach blossom was always narrowed wickedly as if naughtily hooking anyone’s heart.

Like a charming fox with countless tricks hidden under his sleeves.

Yet at this moment, his brows are frowning and a hint of melancholy is painted on his pretty face.

The song is entitled Unspoken Bounds, which tells about a restrained love between two immortals from different worlds. It was a kind of love that was filled with heartache, longing, and even suffocation.

When the two received the song, they instantly knew that they couldn’t perform this properly. They even haven’t experienced being in love yet what they have to face is something way deeper than what they expected. Due to this, they are in a tight bottleneck where they have no absolute idea how to move forward.

Han Suwen and Shen Lou even tried to watch romantic movies to gather information but every time they looked at the two couples saying sweet things and doing something stupid, they just couldn’t contain the greasiness that they felt.

Why would they do something obviously so stupid when there’s a solution to some conflicts? Why are they always misunderstanding due to miscommunication? Can’t they just be honest? And why would even some people turn into a fool and become such a masochist to endure something that they must not?

These two felt like even if they spend a lifetime watching this, they still wouldn’t understand.

It feels like a long time but as time passes by, without any progress, the two were like drowning into a helpless frustration that they couldn’t escape.

Until Han Suwen visited his mother. While he was there, it was not only about her but also about the friends that she had inside that brothel he met. They are the women who don’t have any capabilities to find something in the society to survive and thus result in working in that place. It’s not that there was really no other option but how can they survive and help their families while earning so little?

Han Suwen met his mother’s closest friend Su Mian. She was just an ordinary person with no qualities to enter a school, not only because her mental and physical attributes were too low but also due to her financial status. She was born with almost nothing. Her family is large and has too many responsibilities to carry ever since she was young.

But how could someone really continue to endure that life? Probably no one can. Although it was not him but her own family instead.

Even fate felt like her problem was not enough, her family also encountered multiple problems that let her savings disappear just like that.

Su Mian was left with nothing but the endless suffocation in her life.

To make matters worse, her own family decided to sell her in a brothel.

Only she herself knew the deep desperation she felt that time. She begged. She bowed and oathed to give them money throughout her life. She can be a cow or a robot that never dies to work for them.
