CHAPTER 238: CHAPTER 237: PROMISE

Chapter 237: Promise

The next duo to perform is Qin An and Nan Moyi.

As both had been doing well together, they are not that nervous compared to the other groups. Aside from that, they had taken many other deep genres and compared this time, it was much lighter and inclined to heartfelt emotions rather than the deeper chaos like others.

Both of them also adjusted well and grew a relationship between friends and brothers.

For Qin An, this was a wonderful feeling for him. Other than Shen Lou and Han Suwen whom he had talked with, Nan Moyi was added about someone whom he can have deep conversations with. He Yan and others were also his friends but they somehow hadn’t really had conversations like the others.

Unlike Shen Lou’s radical and Han Suwen’s unsharpened words, Nan Moyi is combined gentle yet also a bit stubborn unexpectedly. That was actually a characteristic that he didn’t know from the young man. He always seems gentle and acts like an elder brother to anyone but when he sets his mind into something, he can be stubborn at some point.

In instance, when Qin An insisted on practicing, he was stubborn in letting him take a rest, but when he was also resting at some point due to an emotional break from the song, Nan Moyi got stubborn in pushing him to practice again and again to restart the feeling of the song.

He was so strong-willed that he seems to know what you really need in different situations. He’ll ask you to rest when you’re overworked, and then he’ll ask you to work hard again when you feel like you’re lagging.

However he also knew that these are the things that would greatly help him to be better. Qin An didn’t mind and even because of this, he felt that their relationship got deeper. Nan Moyi acted not just like a friend but like a brother and a mentor for him.

"Anan, are you ready?" Nan Moyi asked when they saw He Yan and Xing Ren’s performance finished. Qin An nodded.

"Are you nervous?" The young man asked again but Qin An shook his head and looked at his friend seriously.

"But you are here, aren’t you?"

"!!!" Nan Moyi’s eyes widen at the sudden remarks but a smile immediately appears on his lips and he chuckles. He put his arms on Qin An’s shoulder and nodded.

"Yeah, I am here," he said reassuringly. It was kinda unbelievable that the young man would actually say those words to him but Nan Moyi felt really glad and pleased inside him.

Which meant that Qin An had truly acknowledged him.

On the stage, the venue was designed like a foggy forest. The surroundings were full of large and tall trees all over but it wasn’t like the usual refreshing and vibrant feeling coming from the dense nature. Instead, because the fog is somehow thick, it softens the morning light and obscures vision, making it feel ethereal and mysterious.

In the next second, the platform opened and a young man wearing a pure white ancient robe with an instrument beside him. Nan Moyi was dressed in a traditional style and because of his natural temperament, he looks perfectly like a gentleman— stilled and calm like a fairy that no one ever dares to disrupt. His eyes are close, never moving an inch except for the shallow breathing on his chest.

While the audience was admiring him, Nan Moyi finally opened his eyes after a few seconds. His slender hands raise a bit and a thin melodic sound from a famous traditional instrument from Earth echoes. The sounds came from a string tool called guzheng. Every strum radiates the richness and clear like a flowing water and everyone’s eyes couldn’t help but stare at the long slender hands on the string.

The way Nan Moyi moves was very graceful and as every second passes by, he brought the audience to something that feels soothing, a tranquility that makes anyone feel calm and mellow.

This only happened for a few seconds but it felt like a lifetime. And only when everyone notices a figure above that they came to their senses and switched their attention to the other one.

Qin An was also wearing a long robe but it wasn’t pure white, his clothes were a bit like silver snow, making him look a bit softer but evidently much colder than Nan Moyi. The wind made the robe stretch and flow like water. In the air, Qin An slowly descended down like a God and stood not far away from the other one.

On his hand was also a traditional instrument which looked like a long thin-like bamboo called flute. Qin An raises it and puts the lip plate on his lips before beginning. Unlike the guzheng’s rich and graceful tone, the flute sounds refined and a bit sharp.

Standing beside Nan Moyi who looked like an untouchable immortal, Qin An has a temperament that clearly tells of his restrained sharpness. The sounds were wafting against the wind like how he really is, someone that seems to just pass on their lives in the future— always there but will never stay.

"A thousand lifetime seems to pass

Yet it seems like you just left a second..."

Their song is entitled ’Promise

’. This is about a deep friendship between the two that had been passed down for like a lifetime. Nan Moyi played as a mortal who entered cultivation to become an immortal in order to accompany his long-time friend, a God played by Qin An.

Because a mortal can never be a God, Nan Moyi dies and enters reincarnation one after another. That seems like a cycle for him as a human but in every lifetime, fate seems to always find ways to let them get to know each other again and become friends.

This became their lives actually. The mortal lives, dies and enters reincarnation while the God just stays at his side and finds him again for the next life. They’ve encountered different kinds of life and entered journeys together but their friendship was still the same.

It was like a bond that will never die.

"Are you still here, my friend?

My promise will always be granted for you..."

However, the mortal knew that God took too much effort and power to find him every time. In some ways, God needed to pretend like a normal human to stay by his side. They shared joys and sadness between them and he was always grateful for it.

Thus, when he reincarnated into a family with cultivation tradition, he didn’t hesitate and promised that he will do his best to cultivate and become an immortal. Even if he cannot be a God, an immortal stays longer than a human. He can accompany him for a long time and they can travel around the world together.

"Souls tied together

With an endless fate to stay with you..."

As for God, he actually didn’t know from the start how he was able to stay and find this human everyday. He is a God, he is a supreme being that shouldn’t touch any natural beings in this world. He must never allow himself to be tied to someone that is too far from who he is.

Yet he didn’t seem to mind at all. The God seems to find that human very interesting every time he sees an emotion on his face. For someone like him, he was born without any feeling inside him. He never fears life or death nor anticipates anything that’s coming to him.

He was always like a wind that would just pass by and leave without any care.

The God found a mysterious feeling that grew inside him. He began looking forward to accompanying his friend and understanding the different kinds of emotions he never had.

But even though fate allows them to meet again and again, how can it really let them be?
