CHAPTER 34: MISUNDERSTANDING FINISHED

Therefore he moved forward and took her into his embrace, gently brushing her back. Though he didn’t know, why all of a sudden, she had an emotional outburst.

He atleast had a vague idea of just what kind of volatile emotions she was currently felling through their soul bond.

That being the case, he tried comforting her nonetheless.

"There! There! I’m not angry zephyr, and neither do I hate you nor will I leave you alright. So can you calm down now! Please." He reassured her, his voice like a silent whisper, his lips brushing against her ears, each word like a persistent echoing melody in her mind, playing over and over refusing to fade.

Furthermore, being in his embrace, his presence provided a comfort to her, calming her like a warm blanket on a cold night.

The words spoken with such care and tenderness, they had an immediate effect on her, she just couldn’t ignore his plea, it resonated in her mind like a quiet roar.

Therfore, causing her outburst of emotions to slowly but gradually start calming down.

After 30 seconds, she finally managed to ask, though her voice was still weak indicating her capricious state of mind...

*Sniff...*

She looked up at him, her dry, cracked lips slowly parting, an effort that didn’t go unnoticed by him, still he waited for her, simply tightening his arms around her lith figure.

His actions speaking louder then mear words, further putting her mind at ease.

Her voice bairly above a whisper, the words spoken, carrying the heavy weight of her erratic emotions...

"Sniff.. sniff.. really, you weren’t, you weren’t thinking of leaving me or were angry at me." Zephyr asked, her face a ripple of nervousness and hope, her eyes though dry, swelled with tears, slightly red.

Observing her...

Black replied, his voice mixed with a soothing and comforting tone, a reassuring smile gracing his lips,

"Pfft.. Haha.. of course not! Idiot! why would you think that?" He joked, an attempt to bring the solmen air to a jovial one, something she appreciated.

Unexpectedly a small smile bloomed on her unblemished face, with a smile reflecting hers, he continued, a mischievous grin gracing his lips,

"Did you forget, we are literally bonded through a soul bond! soul! zephyr! soul! can’t you feel my emotions? Tell me am I thinking of leaving you? Tell me am I angry at you?" said Black as his hand moved as though on instincts wiping the saddening tears from her reddened eyes.

His every action served as a reassurance for her capricious mind, lessening her fear.

At the mention of their soul bond, zephyr serpentine eyes widened, as though she finally realised just how big of an idiot she was. She can’t believe she made such a silly joke of herself over nothing.

With an expression of both embarrassment and ashamed, she drove into his chest, and closed her eyes, hiding her face from his grinning gaze locked on her.

He laughed profusely, though not aloud.

’Ugh.. I can still hear his demonic laughter through our soul bond’ zephyr thought as she grunted, in embarrassment she tightened her hold around his body too, causing them to fall onto the smooth surface of the pink mushroom below with a soft thud.

*Thud...*

She blamed him for her earlier embarrassing display in her thaughts, ’Its all his fault, shouting like that over nothing, creating such a terrible misunderstanding, resulting in my embarrassment’.

Thinking that she just silently started beating his chest with her small delicate hands. Releaseing small adorable noise of anger with puffed cheeks, pouting at him.

Black also didn’t say anything, relived that she finally returned to her normal self atleast.

’Looks like she is taking her frustration out on me, by hitting me’

Nevertheless he was still quiet entertained by her antics.

Minutes passed just like that...

She question through their soul bond in irritation, as his profuse laughter still hadn’t died down. Well it had receded almost completely but she could still see that devilish grin on his face.

Her lips parted as the words ripple through the air, reaching him,

"Then why did you shout at me, at that time?" The question rang in Black’s mind like a pendulum.

Upon hearing her question Black didn’t know what to say, he didn’t have any answer to that.

That was like a subconscious reaction of his body, that he couldn’t control.

He wanted to say that, instead it was her absurd reply that had caused him to react like that in the first place.

But, alas as he couldn’t say that, so he just shut his mouth, not answering, not speaking at all.

And continued brushing her shimmering raven black hair and smooth back.

Diverting her mind successfully from the pointless conversation.

Nonetheless, contrary to his expectations, the reason for her sudden volatile behavior, where she supposedly thaught that he would leave her or was angry at her was his subconscious reply which came a little louder then was intended.

It was this ridiculous thing that had caused this whole pandemonium.

’What a bad joke! Huh.’ He thought as he sighed ’again’.

Well he wouldn’t lie, he was indeed a little irritated when she said, ’she didn’t know where the Dark-Fall lake was located’. From the day she met him, told him about her past, her soul had been burning with the raging storm of revenge, even he was swept up in her flames.

But when asked about how to reach the target of her revenge, she says she didn’t know, let alone Black anyone would be pissed upon receiving such an absurd answer.

However he couldn’t even express his irritation because of the puppy dog eyes she was making towards him. He knew that, if he showed even a slight amount of that irritation, then that would be the last straw that broke the camel’s back, causing her calm expression to deflate again.

’No I can’t have that, it was already hard enough to calm her down earlier’.

’Such are the vicissitudes of life, I suppose, well I’ll just comfort myself with the fact that, I atleast know what caused her sudden emotional outburst atleast.’ Black thought in his mind as he chuckled at his own joke.

"Umm... were you badmouthing me?" Questioned Zephyr with a raised eyebrow as she lifted her head from his chest.

Black’s eyes widened, he abruptly replied, "No I was not. Why would you say that?"

"I don’t know... I just had a nagging feeling that you were badmouthing me. So I asked, and you said no. Anyway forgot about that it must be my imagination... hehehe" Zephyr finished as she again put her head down on his chest, waiting eagerly to be petted again.

Black didn’t know what to say upon hearing that, just what kind of nagging feeling was it, informing her about such things.

Black just sighed again, to get her mind out of the previous conversation, he asked her another question,

"Say zephyr, tell me.. " he began,

"Umm... " Zephyr cooed, she tilted her head upward, looking at him, she was still lying on top of him, curled like a cat, releasing purring, cooing sounds, enjoying the petting.

Upon getting her rapt attention, he continued, a playful smirk dancing across his lips,

"you said that you ran for hours before stumbling upon that small cave and hiding there, right. But when I first saw you, you were only 4 hours old, so how come you ran for hours? just how is that possible?" His words echoed in the silence, his face illuminated by the dark azure glow of the bioluminescent fungi, ripples with an expression of confusion.

Zephyr listened to him with an attentive and vigilant expression, determined to answer whatever question he raised this time.

To wash away her earlier humiliation.

However contrary to her expectations, he asked such a foolish question.

She again felt idiotic for giving him her full attention.
