CHAPTER 258: CHAPTER 258

Darkness filled the room as a person on their knees with their hands in the prayer position used their power to speak to their god.

It was quiet, not a single sound could be heard. It was as if the outside world had been completely cut off. But this was good; it was better for concentration and meditation.

After having no choice but to let Zion go, Circe went to help her people and save those who could be saved. She tended to the wounded, helped rebuild some places, and nurtured her husband back to full health.

Once all of that was done, she went to the shrine of Bahamut and prayed to him, awaiting an answer.

Finally, she felt it. An overwhelming power flooded her body. It wasn’t harmful, nor did she feel uneasy. She was used to this, she loved this, and she knew it was the sign of her god listening to her prayers.

"Circe." A deep, booming voice called out.

"My Lord." She bowed with her whole body, showing the utmost respect to him.

"Why have you summoned me? I’m sure I told you that we gods are currently fighting a war between these rebellious angels."

"Please forgive me, my lord. But this is about Zion Zagan." She hoped after hearing that name he would listen to her, and that he did."

Instantly, his mood shifted, and his annoyance wavered. "Tell me, what is going on with that, boy! Did you manage to kill him?"

She shook her head. "No, my lord. I’m afraid that Luminera was one step ahead of us. She turned him into a demigod."

"WHAT?!" His voice shattered every piece of glass in the room. "That wench!"

"That is not all, my Lord. He has these weird magic artifacts that can rain fire out of the sky. My husband told me about it when he fought against the demon Gonrod a while back, but this was my first time seeing them. They caused a bunch of death and destruction in our land."

"And what of Zion? Surely he was there to cause such a scene. What did you do with him?"

Circe wavered slightly. She didn’t want to answer, but she knew she had to. "I-I let him go."

"You did what?!"

An invisible force started choking the life out of Circe, lifting her up in the air as her arms and legs dangled, trying to break free from whatever was harming her.

"P-Please...M-My Lord!" She begged

"I wouldn’t have cared if you lost, as I could just give you some of my power, but you simply let him go? You know how much of a threat he is! And now that he’s become a demigod, it’s only a matter of time before he attacks our realm! AND YOU LET HIM FUCKING GO?!"

"O-Our people." She struggled to get out. "I-I went to confront h-him, but that’s when he r-rained fire on our people! I t-thought of their s-safety first!"

Bahamut considered her response and felt that it was an appropriate one. So, he let her go.

Circe rubbed her throat, the choking feeling still lingering around it. "Thank you, my Lord."

"How far in his conquest has he gotten?" Bahamut demanded to know

"All kingdoms except our own. He has even acquired every ancient relic. I’m afraid that Hylaea is the only place that has not been taken over yet. Should I have stopped him before he reached this point?" She asked

"No. You were listening to my orders, so this isn’t on you. I never expected him to make it this far. It seems that Luminera has tricks up her sleeve."

"What should I do now, my Lord?"

"Hmmm. How confident are you in beating Zion?" He wondered

"He punched me when I was off guard, but it wasn’t anything serious. As for his power, while I can say that he’s powerful, I can also confirm that he only recently became a demigod. He should still be getting used to his power."

Bahamut liked that answer. "Good. Now, tell me. How much destruction did he cause to our land and people?"

"In the grand scheme of things, it was minimal. Only weaker dragons died, and the destruction is already halfway fixed. However, our military did take a hit. Somehow, Zaleena Zagan, Zion’s mother, is able to use anti-mana."

"Anti-mana!?" Being a god, Bahamut knew and understood how anti-mana worked. If not handled properly, the energy could completely destroy anything it comes in contact with if it has mana.

"Yes. My husband was injured by that attack as he took it head-on. Thankfully, he took the brunt of the attack, shielding most of our soldiers, but there were still a lot of deaths."

Bahamut thought about his options and his next course of action. Knowing Zion, he automatically assumed the worst for his people and wanted his next step to ensure their survival.

"Here, take this."

And an orb appeared in front of Circe and floated into her hands before assimilating into her body. She felt a huge surge of energy merge with her dragon heart, strengthening her a lot.

"May I ask what this is, my Lord?" She asked, slightly shocked

Bahamut grinned. "I probably won’t be able to take over your body if you get pushed into a corner, so I gave you a piece of my power. If you need it, use it, and it will strengthen you even further. It also has the ability to amplify the power of other dragons. Normally, using this power would drain your life force or cost you your life, depending on how strong you were. But since you’re a demigod, you won’t suffer any negative effects. Combine this with your ancient relic, and you’ll be unstoppable!"

Circe’s face lit up with joy and love. "Thank you, my Lord! I will bring your name glory and have Zion beg for mercy at your feet!"

"Good, good." He smirked. "Prepare everything you need and inform everyone of the situation. In one month’s time, you’ll go to war."

"Yes, my lord."

"I want you to burn all the other kingdoms to the ground for siding with Luminera. Let them all know why the dragons are the strongest race in the Middle World. Let them know why we dominate the world, and let them know their place."

"As you wish, Lord Bahamut."

Before Circe left the room, she clenched her fists, remembering when Zion had punched her the other day.

’That energy, it feels familiar.’
