The squad members looked at each other—none of them dared to make a move.

Seeing that Kurikashima Daiki was still acting so arrogant, Shimo waved his hand, releasing the Bakudō that had been binding the man's mouth.

He had hoped the guy would start shouting insults again, provoking the squad members into showing some backbone.

But the reality left Shimo a bit disappointed.

Once freed, Kurikashima immediately shouted with over-the-top arrogance:

"Bastard! I'm the heir of the noble Kurikashima Clan! If these losers so much as lay a finger on me, I'll have them all thrown into the Central Underground Prison!"

Shimo raised an eyebrow, surprised by this creature's bluster.

Damn... This pathetic extra is a goner.

"Kurikashima Clan? Why does that name sound somewhat familiar...?"

The escorting Shinigami quietly explained, "Reporting to Lord Shimo—Kurikashima is a lesser noble family, living near the outskirts of the noble district."

Shimo gave Kurikashima a pitying glance, his tone chilling. "A lesser noble?"

Kurikashima puffed up proudly, his chin lifted high. "What? Chickening out are you?! If you know who's the damn big shot, then remove this damned Bakudō right now!"

What greeted him in return was the sole of Shimo's thick wooden sandal.

Smack!

With a single kick, Shimo sent him flying several meters without the slightest courtesy.

Kurikashima was momentarily dazed by the blow. What just happened? I announced my noble status… and he still hit me?

A fucking commoner assaulted a noble?!

"You—you're dead!" he roared, still full of bluster despite the pain.

"Are you deaf or just stupid?" Shimo said with undisguised contempt. "When I introduced myself earlier, were your ears growing out of your ass?"

Kurikashima struggled to remember what Shimo had said earlier, racking his walnut-sized brain.

"Let me introduce myself... I am Kyōraku Shimo."

Ky—Kyōraku?!

Kurikashima's pupils shrank, his fear so intense his eyes turned needle-thin.

It suddenly hit him—among the high noble families, there was one called the Kyōraku Clan!

Cold dread surged from the soles of his feet straight up his spine, freezing him in place.

He couldn't stop trembling.

As a low-ranking noble who had just antagonized someone from the highest nobility… what kind of punishment would await him?

"Shi-Shimo-sama…" Kurikashima's tone became sickeningly servile as he tried to lift his battered face. "I-I was wro—"

Whack!

Before he could finish groveling, one of the squad members stepped forward, grabbed a broken plank from the shattered door, and smashed it over his head.

Like a spark falling into dry grass—chaos erupted.

Once someone made the first move, the rest couldn't hold back any longer.

Broken boards, shattered chairs, tables, fists, feet—anything that could inflict damage was fair game.

Every squad member who'd been bullied and beaten finally unleashed their pent-up fury.

Watching the intensity of the beatdown, Shimo actually began to worry that Kurikashima might get beaten to death right there in the barracks.

Thankfully, if there's one thing Fourth Division excels at, it's healing.

So began Kurikashima Daiki's real nightmare.

Thirty minutes of beatings, followed by thirty minutes of healing—then back to the beatings. And repeat.

Shimo stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"These guys have a pretty solid grasp of Kaidō healing arts... If they could cast Kaidō mid-battle, wouldn't they become an unstoppable, savage combat unit?"

In his mind's eye, he imagined a squad of Shinigami in Fourth Division uniforms charging their enemies—willing to trade wounds, even lives. And once everyone was exhausted...

"'Healing spell—cast on self! Alright, round two!'"

Shimo's eyes lit up as he gasped, "This… might actually work!"

Three hours later, the beating finally ceased.

The squad members were all smiling with utter satisfaction.

Clearly, this so-called deputy squad leader had been a tyrant—using his so-called noble status to bully the weak and cower before the strong.

Shimo looked down with disdain at the barely recognizable wreck of a man that was once Kurikashima Daiki.

"You've truly disgraced the noble houses."

Then he turned to the others. "Someone, drag this brainrot to the main medical ward. Even if he dies, I don't want him dying inside the barracks—it'd taint the place."

After this, the squad members completely submitted to Shimo, following his orders without hesitation.

Time passed quickly.

By the time the sixth unit barracks had been fully cleaned and reorganized, night had quietly fallen.

Shimo asked for directions to Fourth Division's Primary Training Ground, then left the barracks.

His eyes reflected the pale glow of the rising moon.

"Captain Unohana… I'm coming."
