Blood Nemesis
Chapter 157: Monster? Demon?
CHAPTER 157: MONSTER? DEMON?
To the monsters, Oliver’s menacing form was akin to a devil. His low chuckles send fear into their hearts.
For a second, they didn’t know who was hunting whom.
Oliver used this opportunity to quickly approach the monsters. Contrary to what you expect, with two dead, his chances of defeating them actually went down.
Tricking the monsters was not possible anymore.
They will surely try to protect their vulnerable points with more mana than needed after seeing what he had done to their companions.
’While low on intelligence, monsters know what to do to survive.’
’Any second now, the S-ranked one would reach here. I need to kill two more.’ Oliver silently said in his mind.
His body dashed agilely over the muddy, damp ground towards the nearest monster.
This time, there was a slight problem; three monsters were standing together.
While it made it seem like it was easy to kill a monster, it was anything but that. Each and every action of his was risky.
The only reason he dared to take a risky move was because he was ready to die.
Death, as in his body being destroyed, wouldn’t kill him.
So, he had the option to charge straight towards the monster, fearlessly.
But this time, three were standing together. And one of the three was even an A-ranker.
He didn’t know how he would fare against three of them, attacking him simultaneously.
"This is not the time to doubt."
He shouted at the monsters and leapt towards the nearest one.
His quick and agile movement was not easy to predict. With the tentacles’ help, he could abruptly change direction, even in mid-air.
Thus, the monster watched his body closely.
They didn’t rush to kill him like their dead companion.
Oliver saw this and felt a little annoyed.
’Why are the damn monsters standing still.’
He couldn’t see an opening at all.
’If there is no opening, I should make an opening myself.’
His leaping body extended two blood tentacles covered in golden mana and attacked the monsters simultaneously.
The smooth, hairless forehead of the monsters twisted into a frown when they saw the tentacles being extended forward.
Their ten-meter bodies trembled as they lifted their hand to block them.
Oliver used the chance to release a tentacle to the ground.
The moment the monster swatted away his tentacles, he tugged his body down using the one connected to the ground.
His body was tiny when compared to theirs.
Oliver used this as an advantage to swiftly close in on their position.
Once he was sure he had reached sufficiently close, he used the third skill of his ability.
Suddenly, he released a fog of thick blood from his body.
That pushed the limits of his blood control.
Oliver felt a piercing pain travel into his head as the plumes of thick blood covered everything around him, including the monsters.
The blood fog was similar to how a squid releases black ink when it is fleeing its enemy. It blocked the vision of all the monsters.
Because of the golden mana he evenly distributed in the blood cloud, they failed to sense him through their mana sense.
Promptly, Oliver retrieved the golden armour into his body, going into full stealth mode.
The plumes of blood were covering everything in a twenty-meter radius.
Even the sunlight barely got through it.
The monsters were perplexed by the sudden change in the situation. Their huge bodies collided inside, not knowing what to do.
Meanwhile, Oliver used the chance to approach them stealthily.
He had wasted a significant amount of blood by using the blood cloud ability. Now, he has less than half the amount of blood his blood sac could store.
He had to make use of the opportunity to kill the damned monsters.
With the singular thought, he approached them from behind.
While the monsters struggled to see, he could clearly sense them through the fog of blood. It was his mana, and the blood was under his control. He focused the fog of blood around the monsters’ heads, limiting their vision even more.
Then, with a quick dash, he positioned himself right in the center of the three monsters, which were standing back to back.
"Clink."
The sharp sound of grenade pins being pulled out resounded through the fog.
Before the monster could understand what happened, three golden red tentacles drilled their way into unspeakable places.
They clenched their butt cheeks simultaneaoulsy.
The A-ranked monster was able to stop the tentacle from drilling into its body.
However, the unlucky B-ranked monster felt the tentacles squirm their way into their body.
"RARRRR."
They let out a bloodcurdling roar when they realised what was about to happen to them.
"May your ass be safe," Oliver muttered and jumped away.
While the A ranked monster stopped grenade from dilling it into its body, it was perfectly lodged between the aquatic monkey’s butt cheeks.
It would certainly do some damage.
To avoid the filth that was about to be launched into the air, Oliver stepped back and let the grenade explode.
"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"
Three simultaneous explosions cut a hole through the blood fog, momentarily revealing the bodies of the monsters falling to the ground.
Oliver was not sure the B-ranked ones were dead, because if they predicted the move and enhanced their core with mana, they could regenerate their lost organs due to their superb healing powers.
Still, he was sure the B-ranked one was debilitated for now.
However, the same could not be said for the A-ranker.
Despite the mana grenade exploding with the power to pulverise rock, the monster seemed to have used almost all of its mana to defend against it.
So, it was still standing, with half its butt cheeks missing.
"That’s one great ass."
"That’s diss-ass-pointing."
"My great assXplosion technique was not enough to take it down. The sturdiness of the water monkeys is commendable."
Oliver muttered randomly and dashed into the blood fog.
Sucking back the blood was impossible with his current stregnth.
Using his blood control ability would strain him mentally. Sucking back the blood fog, which was dispersed in a wide area would need him to create thousands of tiny tendrils that expands in all directions.
In a battle, where any mistake could cause him to die, wasting mental energy on that was not optimal.
"The second-best option is to drain the blood leaking out of the monster’s body."
Oliver entered the remaining blood fog and drained the blood of the monsters lying on the ground.
The A-rank monster was distracted, healing its injuries. The rest of the monsters were standing outside the blood fog, none daring to enter.
Oliver has a few seconds before the blood fog clears.
Or so he thought.
However, by the time he filled his blood sac from 35000 litres to 42000 litres, the ground trembled.
He felt like he was in the middle of an earthquake.
Instantly, he knew he was about to die.
The giant monster, the S-ranked one, seemed to have arrived at their location.
"Ah! Sigh!"
The moment he sensed the monster stop walking, he heard a thunderous sound.
"THAAAM!"
The sound reverberated outwards.
A whirlwind of air picked up and slammed over the blood fog, swiftly clearing it away, revealing Oliver and the monsters inside.
The giant beady eyes of the aquatic-bat-monkey monster were looking down at the exact position Oliver stood. It seemed to have clapped its hand to create the whirlwind and disperse the blood fog.
"Nice to meet you." Oliver gazed up and said.
Meanwhile, he was swiftly sucking the blood out of the monster’s body like a mosquito.
The aura from the S rank monster released due to the mana it was channelling created a suffocating environment. The other monster stepped back cautiously, avoiding its eye.
However, Oliver was the only one who dared to look at it, that too nonchalantly.
The monster showed signs of intelligence as it eyed him back.
’Monsters were not supposed to be like that. After all, they are called monsters for a reason.’ Oliver thought as he saw it, observing him.
He looked up and observed the monster too, this time even more seriously.
He didn’t need any other confirmation to know it was controlling the rest of the monsters. But he would like to know if it was a demon or just an anomaly.
The blood of the monsters he had slain did not have the stench of a demon. So, he was sure the rest of the monsters were not demons. But that itself was not enough reason to exclude the large one from his doubt.
If anything could be a demon, it had to be the S-rank one.
’I need to verify it.’
Oliver said in his mind.
Even amongst demons, the one who could reach S-rank would be a dime a dozen. They would play a significant role in their plan of world domination.
Thus, if he could be sure that an S ranker of the demons was within the gate linked to Titanfall would a critical information.
’Anyway, it’s not going to let me live. So, I have a chance...’
With a sly smile tugging the corner of his lips, he gazed at the towering head fifty meters high and shouted, "Mr Demon, I come in peace. If you let me live, I will tell you where the fish you are searching for is."
His voice was loud.
The monster could hear him clearly.
If it responded, it would mean that it was a demon.
If it didn’t, he would die.
Neither mattered.
After all, Oliver could just respawn somewhere else. He had already made plans for that when he was training each day.
