Blood Nemesis
Chapter 193: Arrival
CHAPTER 193: ARRIVAL
A few minutes later, a giant airship flew over Dragon City. Its destination was the mountain and hill near the city centre.
The people on the ground looked up in awe as the metal giant soared through the air.
The ’behemoth’ was known to all.
It was the airship that the military uses to deploy mechs.
This time, there were no Mechs attached to the behemoth’s underbelly. So, it didn’t create any panic.
They thought the ship was on just a routine flight and enjoyed the view.
-
Inside the belly of the behemoth...
Thunder Emperor and Achara stood, looking out into the distance, taking in the view of the entire city.
With the reduction in demons following the rapid tests conducted across military and government institutions, the sense of safety had increased.
Other than occasional invasion of mana or mutant beast from the outside the city, they had really nothing to worry about.
"I heard the second permanent gate will be fully stabilized this month, and a vanguard team is set to explore it soon," Achara spoke, slowly turning her head to look at the elder beside her.
Today, Thunder Emperor was wearing his best suit. His hair and beard were neatly combed.
All in all, he looked perfect.
Achara knew why he was dressed up.
Still, she found it amusing.
The presence of Oliver indeed seemed to have made some changes in the old man.
He looked brighter and much happier.
’Ah! That kid.’ Achara sighed.
As her thoughts wandered, Thunder Emperor began to speak.
"The vanguard team will be formed by the Hunter Association. They requested access to WorldNet. What do you think about it?"
"We should give them access if we can."
"However, do we have the authority to?"
"Don’t we?" Achara tilted her head.
Thunder Emperor just smiled.
"We have to ask Oliver for permission." He stated and touched the thick glass panel that separated the ship’s interior from its exterior.
"He is going to make a lot of money," Achara added from the side.
"Of course."
Thunder Emperor was also satisfied with the outcome.
He had some idea about how Oliver was going to introduce WorldNet.
They had discussed acquiring a live streaming platform and using it to show real-time video of hunts, raids, and defensive battles that were happening on the spot.
It would be a valuable tool for showing the younger generation the reality of the world.
At the same time, it could also inject fresh blood into the occupation of hunters and explorers.
"Oliver said that he can make a device, a node, to transmit and receive information independent of the large synchronisation device." Thunder Emperor smiled, tapping the glass. "The first-generation node will be similar to the military communication device in size and functionality."
Achara was sceptical about what she had heard.
From what she knew, to synchronise QCM, they needed a lot of power.
So, they were using high-density fuel rods.
How can a fuel rod, as big as a person’s arm, be fitted into a cellphone-sized device?
And more importantly, would their proprietary technique be used to resynchronise the QCM leak?
Once the technology leaks, it would create mayhem.
Thunder Emperor should have known that. And yet, why does he look so happy?
Achara thought for a few seconds and raised her concerns.
Thunder Emperor replied by saying that, by continuously transmitting the drift frequency of the QCM node to the hub, they can keep the link alive without powering the node.
Achara didn’t grasp what it meant in its entirety. But she knew her concerns were unwarranted.
She should have guessed that a greedy, money-hungry psychopath like Oliver would never do business that loses money.
"A worldwide, instant communication system. WorldNet will be far better than we imagined. We need to increase the security of the server hubs." Achara suggested.
"Yes."
Thunder Emperor agreed with the sentiment.
WorldNet is a tool that can reshape humanity and its interactions.
It was the second internet revolution.
And at the centre of it all stood the crazy kid.
It was both reassuring and, at the same time, unnerving.
*Sigh*
*Sigh*
Both of them sighed simultaneously and looked at each other.
Abruptly, they laughed.
"Achara, you have to control him from now on. Don’t let him do whatever he wants. Nudged him to make better decisions."
"I understand."
Achara nodded.
If Oliver had heard their conversation, he would have scoffed at the notion that he could be controlled.
In the past, the entire world has tried to do it.
And, still, they failed.
It did not bode well for those who wanted to use force to control him.
If Achara tried to use any method other than politely requesting something of him, he would silence her.
The only reason the relationship between Thunder Emperor and Oliver worked out was due to their willingness to give each other mutual respect.
As long as they respected him, he would give back the respect they deserved.
Otherwise, everything would fall apart even more quickly than it was built.
As they talked, the behemoth flew over a mountain.
Because of the higher mana density, the entire mountain was covered in lush green trees.
As the sunset approached, they noticed lights coming alive all across the mountain.
And near the top was the brightest light.
It was the Kim family’s main house.
The behemoth floated slowly and approached the main house.
Below, on the ground, the mechs and defensive equipment tracked the approaching airship.
But they didn’t dare to lock onto it with their weapon.
Almost everyone in the city knew that someone who could fly a behemoth over the city was a big shot.
As such, the behemoth approached the main house without any problem.
A few minutes later, it hovered above the house, capturing everyone’s attention.
—
A few minutes ago, after Oliver was imprisoned, the elder had stormed into the main house to meet the patriarch.
He pushed open the door to the patriarch’s study and spoke.
"Brother, I need your permission to kill that damned bastard."
His voice travelled into the room and was heard by everyone inside.
’Bastard?’
’Who?’
They thought simultaneously.
