Blood Nemesis
Chapter 199: Threat
CHAPTER 199: THREAT
God was a difficult concept to wrap your head around. Different people have different beliefs about what a god is.
However, Oliver cared about none of them.
The question of whether god exists doesn’t even exist in his mind. Because either way, he didn’t give a damn about it.
If the opportunity arises, he wouldn’t mind killing a god and drinking its blood.
So, the Kim family was not even worth mentioning.
He wouldn’t mind eradicating them to get some peace of mind.
Oliver’s chilling voice travelled through the room, shocking everyone.
His declaration had enough confidence backing it to make them believe he meant what he said.
’A madman, ’ everyone thought simultaneously.
Even Achara and the Thunder Emperor thought the same. They were thrilled to know the madman on their side.
While others gave Oliver a solemn look.
Oliver had displayed his power by contending against Hyungho’s aura.
Hyungho was a genuine A-ranker with years of experience.
And yet, a young man like Oliver could thwart the aura and stand firm.
Even now, the golden mana was covering Jiah, protecting her from the waves of aura flooding in the room.
Jiah was the weakest, barely a C-ranker. He had realised this fact and was calmly protecting her while threatening them.
The threat also worked.
Combining what Yuna had told them with what they saw in real life, the Kim family members came to the conclusion that Oliver was a madman they couldn’t offend. Unless they could kill him, then and there, he would be like a sword hanging above them for all eternity.
For the Kim family, it would be the worst outcome.
The patriarch tightened his fist in frustration.
Never could he have imagined that the situation would be this bad when he initially met Oliver.
Never could he have thought they would be so powerless in front of the young man, younger than his great-grandkids.
Oliver noticed their colourful expression with glee.
His primary purpose for coming here was an amicable resolution to the issue. But he had thrown out the thought the moment they tried to poison him.
If being respectful and reasonable doesn’t work, threats are the next most obvious solution.
And that’s what he was doing...
He showed force to let them know that bad things would happen if they tried anything behind his back.
Still not satisfied, Oliver decided to show one of his cards.
He stood up as everyone processed what he just said.
*Scoff*
He breathed in and began to speak.
"I can see the sly minds of yours ticking, forming schemes one after another, trying to find a way to kill me."
Oliver glanced at every member of the Kim family within the room.
"You should know what my primary ability is before doing that."
’What is it?’
Everyone thought.
Achara looked at the Thunder Emperor and vice versa. They knew about it.
When he registered as a superhuman, his ability was minimal tissue regeneration and blood control.
They eyed each other in doubt.
Similarly, Yuna was also looking at Oliver in confusion. She was the only one among the Kim family’s side to know about it.
Was there more to it?
Their thoughts converged, asking the same question.
At the same time, the golden mana on Oliver’s left hand disappeared.
Before anyone could understand what was happening, Oliver formed a hand blade with mana compressed on his right hand.
Then he raised his right hand and chopped downwards.
*Swishhh*
The left arm was crudely cut from the elbow.
It flew out and fell, splurting a moderate amount of blood.
Everyone watched the scene in complete shock.
What was this madman doing?
He cut his arm off!!!
Why???
The moment the arm fell to the floor, Oliver spoke.
"Ah! That was painful." Oliver blocked the blood splurting out of his arm.
"But pain doesn’t matter if you have to prove a point."
Oliver shook his left arm stump.
Immediately, a blood tendril extended out from the hand and latched onto the fallen arm.
With a flick of the tendril, the arm flew back to its original place, sucking back the blood.
Then...
Under the watchful eyes of everyone around, the skin regenerated and mended seamlessly, healing the injury and returning it to its original appearance.
Oliver moved his fingers, trying out the left arm, checking whether it was fully functional.
"See...I just fixed a life-threatening injury in a second. So, do you really want to try and kill me?" He asked with a smile.
But the smile felt more threatening than his earlier words.
The elder, sitting next to the patriarch, who was seriously considering killing Oliver, wore a grave look.
Similarly, Hyungho felt his chest tighten, knowing what it meant.
On the other hand, the patriarch felt as though his lifespan had decreased by half.
Regenerative powers at that level were out of the ordinary.
The earlier thought of Oliver hanging above their head like a sword for all eternity doesn’t seem like just a thought anymore.
The ’all eternity’ part couldn’t be more real.
Killing someone like Oliver would be extremely difficult, if not impossible.
Jiah, startled, saw their changing expression and realised Oliver had done the impossible. He had convinced her family to rethink their decision by force.
A bottomless respect welled up inside her heart as she looked at Oliver.
To help her, he severed his arms and showed strength.
Even if the person could regenerate and heal, severing the arm would have been painful.
...And yet, he did so without a second thought.
She thanked Oliver silently in her mind.
This brother-in-law was really different. And he seems to care more about her than her family.
Meanwhile, Yuna, sitting beside her family members, widened her eyes in shock.
’I friggin knew it.’ She screamed in her mind, watching Oliver heal instantly.
’I friggin knew he was strong.’
She was the one who was most clear about what Oliver felt that moment. Her empath ability could literally allow her to momentarily feel the pain Oliver experienced as he chopped off his arm.
Although not as intense as he would experience, she could feel the willpower needed to do something similar.
’My ability doesn’t work on him because of his willpower. He can resist mental intrusion.’
She silently noted it down in her mind.
At the same time, Achara and the Thunder Emperor looked at Oliver with wide eyes.
They were looking at him like he was a fresh piece of meat.
A delicious dish.
Something they got on a bargain.
They knew about his mild regenerative powers. But never in their wildest dream could they have thought his ability evolved into something even stronger.
’With regenerative powers like that, no wonder he escaped from an S-rank demon.’
They looked at each other and nodded silently, with the same thought flowing through their mind.
"Oliver, when did you gain that ability?" Thunder Emperor asked with a broad smile plastered on his face.
He was indeed lucky to have recruited this young man, he thought.
"I found out when I almost died. It is a kind of ability you can’t know you have unless you are seriously injured." Oliver replied and sat back down.
The blood stains on the floor were still there.
However, none of them had any complaints.
"I showed my arms being severed. You might be thinking about what the limits of my abilities are, right?" Oliver asked the Kim family members. "Then think hard and long before you try something funny. And for your information, if you fail to kill me after all that, I will eradicate the Kims. The Federation doesn’t need people like you if you can’t even do one job right."
It was both a threat and a challenge.
Oliver leaned back and sat comfortably, lifting his left hand and rubbing it against the headrest of the sofa.
He was wiping the remaining blood onto it as he was rubbing salt in their wounds.
The real trump card Oliver held was his revival ability. As long as that one remains hidden, he doesn’t mind revealing the other ability to gain an advantage.
And so he did.
"So, Kim family, what is your decision? Do you want to force her to do something she doesn’t want?"
Oliver pointed at Jiah when he asked.
The patriarch and the rest didn’t have an answer. They had their disagreements, but didn’t want to voice them.
Though they didn’t want to accept it, they were brought to their knees by the young man.
Without their family’s strongest member, they didn’t have a chance of doing anything against Oliver.
Finally, he turned to Jiah and asked, "Do you want to leave with him?"
The patriarch hoped that she wouldn’t.
However, Jiah didn’t wait even a second and replied.
"I do."
Even Oliver was slightly surprised. To think she would accept it that easily.
What did they do to her? Oliver wondered.
The decision to leave the family was not a simple one. But she did so without hesitation. Oliver couldn’t disappoint her.
He nodded and said, "Okay, that’s it. I am taking over from here on."
