Blood Online: Evolving Endlessly
Chapter 87: New Laws And System
CHAPTER 87: NEW LAWS AND SYSTEM
"He’ll need to cause discord, not just here, but in all the other districts as well... And let’s not forget that before he appears, there has to be a Major Sub-Scenario."
Since they had played the game with him, both Seth and Langdon fully understood what he was saying. Before the Titan could make a full appearance, there had to be a preceding Major Sub-Scenario that would trigger it.
While that specific sub-scenario was yet to be known, they knew it wouldn’t be gentle.
Langdon could only let out a deep sigh after hearing Akhil’s chilling analysis.
"Well, it seems you already have your plans for everything that will happen going forward. While that’s a disturbing issue, that’s not the only problem we have to solve."
Akhil quietly looked at him, roughly guessing where the conversation was heading. While Langdon appeared small and didn’t look intimidating, Akhil couldn’t deny the fact that he was an economic grandmaster. Heck, he could even swear that Langdon must have held a political position before the apocalypse.
"This area is mineral rich and has materials that can help me manufacture and create multiple more bots... That will help our settlement. Of course, in return... These bots will also be of help to you, and not only that, but we can also begin an official trading market between the orcs and the humans."
Akhil listened to everything Langdon said. It was just as he had expected: the young politician was after his own gains, but Akhil wasn’t entirely against the idea. In fact, he desperately needed the resources as well. This could also be the start of something new for all the gamers and the orcs!
"Definitely, we can begin a trade between our factions. But before that... You’ll have to compensate us for all the losses we’ve suffered from you," Akhil said bluntly with a poker face. "While I’m grateful for the help you’ve offered us in rebuilding the settlement, that alone won’t compensate for the death of our orcs."
"If that is the case," Langdon replied, matching his serious tone, "then what would you suggest we do to pay back this compensation?"
"Weapons, and defensive mechanisms... For free." Akhil’s voice came back almost as soon as Langdon asked the question. It came with a chilling finality that made it quite clear that he had no intentions of withdrawing his request.
Langdon could only smile wryly. "Very well, we’ll do just that... I’ll gather up as much of that as I can."
"Good," Akhil replied, offering a calm smile. "Speaking of weapons, I need to know how Samxon got his hands on a named weapon."
"A named weapon?!" Seth’s voice echoed from the side. He had been quiet for a while, but a named weapon was definitely something he couldn’t stay silent about.
Even Langdon’s expression turned dire upon hearing those words. Aria and the others didn’t exactly know what the three were talking about, but seeing the serious faces of the three gamers, they knew it wasn’t simple at all.
"When I fought with him, he had a named weapon, and I was genuinely surprised to see him with one," Akhil explained, his thoughts drifting back to the fight again.
He knew that if he hadn’t gained enough Blood Essence to level up, he wasn’t even sure he would have had enough strength to stand up against a named weapon.
In the game, weapons had up to six tiers:
Basic: A simple, usual weapon with no skills whatsoever.
Advanced: The weapons added a slight boost to the user’s base stats, but nothing more.
Enchanted: This was where things got serious. Weapons like these were formed from Beast Cores obtained from Level 50 (Basic) Beasts and could inherit similar abilities to the monster. (If Akhil used the Beast Core he had obtained from the Star Wolf to create a weapon, he’d most likely end up with this.)
Named Weapons: These came after Enchanted, and these weapons were created using cores from Advanced Beasts!
Not only were these Advanced Beasts stronger and more terrifying than the basic ones, but the advanced core powering a weapon would increase damage output by about 50% and also greatly reduce the backlash when pushing past one’s limits. It could give a Level 10 basic player the battle power of a Level 1 advanced player. The last two tiers were much more terrifying.
Akhil was stunned that Samxon had obtained such cores, since no Advanced Beast had made an appearance yet! They were only meant to appear after the third scenario had concluded.
Seth and Langdon understood this system well, and that made them just as shocked as Akhil.
"For him to have obtained a named weapon, he must have gotten at least a Level 100 Basic Beast Crystal," Langdon said thoughtfully.
Aria’s brows knitted as a sudden thought hit her. "They stole something when they came... It seems they were looking for the core from the boss you killed!" she said, looking toward Akhil.
"That’s right... The Titan’s Beast Core." Akhil quickly remembered the immense core. He had left it behind when he went to rescue the abducted orcs. Hearing that they stole it now really pissed him off, but he didn’t let the anger disturb him.
"I didn’t see him with that core... In fact, he had two!" Akhil remembered the two bright cores that had been embedded into the gauntlets he destroyed.
"This is serious... How did he get his hands on those crystals?" Langdon paused for a moment, pondering. "There are only a few blacksmiths in both cities that can make weapons of that caliber... We can meet one of them and interrogate them to get answers."
"Very well, I’ll leave that to you."
Blacksmiths had the special ability ’Appraisal,’ which allowed them to have an idea of what beast a core was gotten from. If they could find the blacksmith, that meant they could have an idea of where Samxon got the crystals.
But a lot of things still didn’t make sense to Akhil. ’If he already had two crystals, why did he steal mine? Did he just not want me to create a weapon?’
There was so much that didn’t add up, but after a long moment of thought, Akhil could only let the matter go for now.
At the moment, they had to discuss the future of both the orcs and humans cooperating together. Turning his gaze to Seth, Akhil mentioned something else he had been considering for a while.
"We’ll need an official building for the guild here. Specifically for the orcs. It will allow us a wider range of work and help us train these orcs..."
Seth’s eyes gleamed, and he let out a prideful scoff. "If it’s for my boss... sure! If you didn’t say it, I would have offered to do it anyway."
"What do you guys think?" Akhil glanced toward Aria, Nibo, and Ryan, who stood by his side. Since the three were the strongest in the settlement after him and were always supportive, he felt that their opinion mattered a lot. In a sense, they were like his board members, helping him make decisions, as he still wasn’t completely confident in his own leading abilities.
Aria chipped in first. "That will be a great idea. An Adventurer’s Guild will help us gain more rewards and also help us grow stronger."
"I don’t know, sounds good to me," Nibo said, scratching his head. Aria could only let out a sigh of disappointment, facepalming. She could easily tell that Nibo had no idea what an Adventurer’s Guild even was.
"I have no idea what an Adventurer’s Guild is," Ryan said bluntly.
Hearing Ryan’s straightforward and honest reply, a small awkward smile crept up Nibo’s face.
"Me too," Nibo confessed.
Akhil, Aria, and even Langdon couldn’t hold back their laughter when they heard him.
"Idiot, you should have just said so from the start," Aria scoffed.
"Calm down, Ria," Akhil said to her with a gentle voice before turning his gaze to Nibo and Ryan. "I’ll explain for you." He went on to explain in detail what the guild was and how it would help them.
After getting a better understanding, the two thought for a moment before nodding their heads in approval.
"It’s a great idea," Ryan said calmly.
"Yes! I agree with him," Nibo added enthusiastically.
"I think we’re all forgetting something," Langdon’s voice cut through the air, grabbing their attention again. They all turned their gazes toward him.
"While I’ve already started working on it, I believe it’s best we discuss it now."
"What is that?" Akhil raised a brow.
"Currency... Since there will be a major trading system, we should also establish a major system for transactions."
"You’re not wrong... You said you had something for it already, right? What is that?" Akhil asked curiously.
A beaming smile cut across Langdon’s face. Akhil could tell he loved talking about his inventions.
Langdon put his hands into his pocket, bringing out a phone. He then scrolled through it, as though looking for something, before stopping.
Everyone stared, waiting with much curiosity to see what he wanted to do.
"For the currency, this will be our new currency!"
