Chapter 569 - 256: Ghost Cry Fish, Mermaid’s Song, Sea Clan Chuck (Part 3)
CHAPTER 569: CHAPTER 256: GHOST CRY FISH, MERMAID’S SONG, SEA CLAN CHUCK (PART 3)
A fat woman with a barrel-like figure, disheveled, chased out of the house, waving a handkerchief, shouting loudly at the man’s back: "Chuck, our child and I will be waiting for you at home..."
As she spoke, she gently touched her bulging stomach with a tender expression.
"Alright, sir, when do you want to depart?"
Chuck from the Sea Clan returned to Ronan’s side, wiping his moist cheeks vigorously, and looked at him with burning eyes as he asked.
Ronan was at a loss for words, not understanding but choosing to respect.
He turned around and strolled towards the coastline.
"Now."
....
On the azure, unblemished sea surface, a silver-gray magic airship skimmed over the waves, rapidly flying in one direction.
Standing at the bow, Ronan squinted into the distance.
With his extraordinarily sharp eyesight, he could clearly see that the originally blue water near the horizon was slowly turning an inky green.
The water seemed like a dense blob of green ink, darkening steadily, as if a vast, expanding green maw was devouring the entire sea from afar.
That place was their destination, the Green Luminous Sea Abyss.
Ever since he had seen the ancient oceanic creature, the silver giant eel, Ronan had maintained a deep reverence for the sea.
Crossing the ocean alone, returning to the Southern Continent from the East Coast, had granted him the courage needed to face the unknown.
Retracting his gaze, Ronan turned to see Chuck examining the "Roaring Fish" he had casually placed on the airship’s deck.
This "Roaring Fish" they purchased at the Sunset Gathering was reduced to a dying state after expending its life force in a fatal roar.
Ronan had been sustaining it forcibly by infusing it with life force.
Yet, even with that, it couldn’t live much longer, belly-up and floating in a transparent crystal tank. The two strange human legs growing from its body, initially smooth like a baby’s, had withered and wrinkled like those of a frail old man.
"This is the first time I’ve seen a Ghost Cry Fish that survives after crying..."
Chuck said in a tone filled with wonder as he looked at the Roaring Fish in the tank.
Ronan never looked down upon or held prejudice against those living at the bottom tiers. After using a spell to temporarily remove Chuck’s strong fishy smell from being part of the Sea Clan, he treated him more like a regular person.
After setting sail, the two often chatted. Over these few days, Chuck had come to realize that this young lord, whom even the most esteemed Wizards treated with respect, had a much nicer temperament than his exterior suggested.
"What do you usually use to capture them?"
Ronan casually asked Chuck.
Chuck replied almost without hesitation: "Blood and flesh."
Then, he glanced at Ronan and added: "My blood and flesh, ordinary ones are useless. Only the blood and flesh of those with the Sea Clan bloodline can lure the Ghost Cry Fish."
In the legend of the Mermaid’s Song, the Ghost Cry Fish were originally tools created by demons from the depths of the Abyss to capture and enslave the Sea Clan... They are particularly sensitive to the blood and flesh of the Sea Clan...
But rest assured, sir, I’ve already prepared myself to offer up for this sea hunting expedition at any time..."
Ronan was indifferent to Chuck’s show of loyalty but was quite intrigued by the origin story of the Ghost Cry Fish he mentioned, so he asked, unable to help himself: "What else do you know? Tell me in detail."
Chuck hesitated for a moment, then said: "Actually, I don’t know much either.
Passed down to my generation, the Sea Clan bloodline is already very thin, yet the damned ’Sea Poisoning’ still can’t be shaken off...
What I know all comes from the stories my grandfather told me as a child..."
