Bloodline Reckoning: The System Made Me Filthy Rich
Chapter 54: Removed From Group!
CHAPTER 54: REMOVED FROM GROUP!
"Yes. That’s what the doctor told us. All of his organs are functioning well for someone his age."
Noah could feel Edgar’s misery in his tone. He turned to see him and noticed how sad he was now.
"How old is he?"
"Fifty-five..."
Noah was stunned. For someone who was only fifty-five, his Father looked much older; he seemed to be in his seventies.
’What happened to you? What kind of illness is this? Why do you seem to age so quickly?’ he pondered.
Noah stands there for a while. Suddenly, something crosses his mind.
’Zoe !!’
’Yes, Master?’
’Can you tell me why I ended up in an orphanage?’
’I’m sorry I can’t...’
Noah clearly remembers her telling him that he could ask her anything. But now, for this seemingly simple question, she cannot provide an answer.
’You can’t tell me because you don’t know, or is there some power preventing you from informing me?’ he asked, his skepticism growing toward Zoe’s supposed all-knowing abilities.
’Sir, for such personal inquiries like that, I’m afraid only one man can answer. You must ask Anderson Morgan about it.’
Noah sighed quietly to express his frustration and asked again. Perhaps this time, she would have an answer for him.
’Alright, I understand if you can’t tell me about it. But, I hope you can tell me what Anderson Morgan’s sickness is.’
’I’m sorry, sir, I can’t tell you anything about Anderson Morgan; the only way you could do it is to ask him yourself.’
Unbelievable! How could Zoe insist that he talk to a comatose person?
Noah is frustrated. He ends the conversation with the female system voice in his mind and decides to go home because the day has already changed, and he is still here. He is worried that Alicia will be concerned about him.
...
They arrived at the house in under ten minutes. The house wasn’t far from the city’s central business district.
The home’s location felt like another world. With the full moon casting a silver light, Noah looked at the road snaking through the area, lined with tall trees that made it feel like he was up in the mountains instead of where he was now, right in the middle of Fort City.
He didn’t have time to check the surroundings or notice the house as he marched inside with Edgar, who guided him to his room on the third floor.
When Noah awoke the next day, the light from the window blinded him.
Noah hopped out of bed, settled on the edge, and took a moment to look around. The room, reflecting a classic masculine style, features a striking combination of black and white along with some truly luxurious furniture.
Gently running his fingers through his hair, Noah tried to ease the headache torturing him at that moment.
"Ugh! What the hell is with this dizziness!?"
Noah growled in annoyance as he searched for water and painkillers but found nothing in the room. He checked his Space-Mind and found only clean clothes and valuable personal items.
"Damn! Looks like I need to stock up on basic necessities in my Space-Mind!"
After freshening up in the bathroom, Noah stood by the window, surprised to see the sun had risen high in the sky.
He hurried to the first-floor dining room after getting Jason and Alicia’s texts.
Just before reaching the elevator, Noah paused as he noticed a link sent by his friend in the group chat and accidentally found himself rereading the entire chat.
"Poor @Ryan! How did he end up like this?"
"I have goosebumps. Why are three of our richest friends in the group facing so many difficulties lately?"
"You’re correct, @Ryan and @Julia... I hope you both can resolve these issues soon. And I also wish for @Jack to rest in peace!"
"Rest in peace, @Jack!"
"Yeah! I hope you guys are alright, @Ryan and @Julia!"
"Hey, guys, did you catch the news about Noah Morgan? Is he connected to Noah?"
"What are you trying to say? It can’t be Noah; everyone knows he was poor."
"LMAO! Don’t say that... He might be crying in the corner."
"WDYM!?"
"You didn’t know that Noah joined this group again?"
"What the hell? Who the fuck adding him!?"
[Noah removed from the group]
Noah laughed inwardly at reading all their chat. He felt relieved that he was no longer there.
At least, he didn’t have to explain things if he left on his own.
After confirming that he had removed all his friends’ phone numbers from the phone book and blocked them to prevent anyone from re-adding him, he quickly searched for the latest news about Ryan White.
What Noah discovered left him shocked.
Ryan White was charged with damaging Caldwell Construction and ordered to pay significant damages. He was also indicted in a separate case.
Reading the headline news makes his stomach churn. He never knew that Ryan was actually involved in this terrible business.
"Drug dealers targeting Opal City’s teenagers and young people are finally exposed!"
"Ryan White, the drug kingpin in Opal City, faces at least 10 years in prison!"
Now, a few questions arise in Noah’s mind.
’Did he really deal drugs? Even a drug kingpin? Or did Matthew frame him to become one of them?’
The thought of how capable Matthew is of doing something like that sends a shiver down his spine. Hurriedly, he sets aside his worry and enters the elevator, heading to the first floor.
"Bro, finally..." Alicia’s cheerful voice greeted Noah the moment he entered the dining room. "I was about to go upstairs and knock on your door if you didn’t show up in five minutes!"
Noah chuckled, gently flinching her forehead, and sat next to her.
"Aw, come on, Bro! Why do you keep flinching at me?" Alicia scolded him with an intense stare, but Noah couldn’t help but find her reaction amusing.
"Eat more! You look too skinny," Noah said, placing a fresh, golden melon in her tiny mouth, then turning his attention back to Jason, seated opposite them.
