CHAPTER 60: SHE MOVED!

Another week passed.

Noah has been away from home rarely in the past week.

Every morning, he only does two things: head to the Golden Phoenix Tower or search for his target from The List. He would only return in the middle of the night.

His day is always stressful, mainly because he has to deal with the other Morgans.

Those wicked and insincere people still try to find a chance to meet him. Alexander Morgan calls him every time, and even stops by the Golden Phoenix Tower just to see him.

But, of course, he never wavers, giving the old man a chance to meet.

However—

One of his regrets is that he has been too busy tending to his own affairs. He rarely sees his little sister Alicia, and as time goes by, he starts to feel guilty about it. They live under the same roof, and they only meet for a brief moment each morning during breakfast.

Noah didn’t see her this morning when he entered the dining room.

It was the first time this had happened since they started living together in this house, and it worried him.

As he was about to check her in her bedroom, Noah saw Jason walking into the dining room.

"Jason, where’s Alice?"

Instead of replying, Jason asked, "Alice? You didn’t know?"

Confusion flashed in Noah’s gaze.

"Know what?"

"Noah, your sister has already moved to her new apartment since yesterday," Jason said.

Noah looked panicked as he made a call.

"Damn it!" Noah couldn’t hold back, but cursed as he grabbed his cell phone. Frustrated, he wondered aloud, "Why didn’t she call me?"

"She called, but you said you would call her back."

Noah’s hand paused before he dialed her number. His heart tightened as he glanced at Jason.

"I remember she mentioned that she had already texted you," Jason explained.

At this moment, not even Noah’s well-defined features could hide the shock on his face. "Jason, please drive me there..." He ordered before that, and he rushed to the front door.

...

They arrived at the Arcadia Apartment Complex near Astington University thirty minutes later.

"Building C is her apartment unit," Jason pointed to the five-story building in front of them and continued, "Alice is on the top floor. You can access it using this card."

Noah took the card and glanced outside, looking at the empty main entrance.

"You go ahead first, Noah. I’ll park and catch up," Jason said, stopping right at the main entrance.

Noah nods slightly before rushing to the fifth floor. It didn’t take long for Noah to arrive on the fifth floor.

He hurriedly knocked on the door as soon as he arrived at the apartment, eager to meet Alicia, only to realize it was still just seven o’clock.

’Ooo shi... I should have breakfast first at the cafe outside! She might still be sleeping, right?’

Noah glanced back toward the doorway and clenched his hands in frustration.

Nearby, he noticed a four-unit apartment. A worried thought slowly fills his mind—imagine his sister alive in this place all alone.

"Brother, Noah? Why are you—"

A faint voice behind the door made Noah turn to look at it.

At the same time, the sound of the door latch being opened was heard, and Alicia appeared from behind the door, looking at him in shock.

"What do you mean by that response, you silly girl?" Noah questioned with a friendly smile before walking inside, leaving her standing in the doorway, jaw dropped in disbelief.

Noah observed the room.

The apartment was new, clean, and stylishly furnished. It featured one bedroom, a cozy living room, a modern kitchen, and a veranda overlooking the Astington University forest area.

"Alice, why are you moving out so quickly? I thought you were supposed to move out of my place next week," Noah said, turning to look at her.

Only then did Noah realize what Alicia was wearing: short pajamas that exposed so much of her skin and curves. His heart seized.

It’s been so long since he saw her like this, and this girl has definitely grown into a young woman. She is no longer the little sister as he had pictured her in his mind!

He turned his gaze to the small modern kitchen on the other side.

"Alice, why don’t you go get dressed properly. Jason will be here soon..."

Noah feels relieved as he hears her rushing to her bedroom and muttering, "Hmm..."

A little while later, Alicia returned wearing her comfortable oversized T-shirt and cozy yoga leggings.

Sitting across from Noah with a curious smile, she asked, "Bro, seriously... Why did you come so early this morning? I thought you were busy with work?"

"I’m sorry, Alice, for not accompanying you when you moved here. My father’s family matters distracted me, and I missed your text."

"It’s okay. I understand, especially with Jason helping me move and Uncle Matt finding this great apartment for me. Brother, I hear you purchased this place?"

"Yeah. This is my gift for you because you’ve been accepted to the top medical school in the country. I know how difficult it is to get selected for the school."

"Thank you, Bro..."

"Oh, right... Back to the topic. You said you will only move next week. Why rush?"

"I want more time to be familiar with this house and my campus. We will start being active in less than two weeks. And—" Alicia paused as she worried about telling him about her plan.

"What is it, Alice?"

"Bro, I plan to look for a place to work, too. So I can study and also make money—"

"No! I will not allow you to do that," Noah’s voice slowly rose, surprising Alicia. "You just need to study hard. I will take care of it for you for money and anything else..."

Noah took out his wallet and gave her a bank card.

"This card is for you..."

When Noah noticed Alicia was hesitant to accept, he reassured her, "It’s not much—just $3,000. I’ll transfer the same amount every month. I hope the amount is enough to cover your food and basic needs. Or if you want more, I can transfer $5000..."

"No, brother! $3000 is more than enough for me!" She hurriedly took the card.
