Bloodline Reckoning: The System Made Me Filthy Rich
Chapter 65: Investigate Him
CHAPTER 65: INVESTIGATE HIM
Alexis’s eyes sparkled with joy as her smile returned, and she gazed intently into Noah’s blue eyes.
"Miss Moore, I prefer not to get involved in whatever happens in your family."
When he noticed the sadness in her eyes, his remaining anger toward Jeremy suddenly resurfaced.
’Should I teach that bastard Jeremy a lesson?’ This thought troubles him.
"However, Miss Moore, if we get the chance to meet again, I’d love to share my name and phone number with you..." He paused, noticing her eyes brighten and her cherry-red lips gently curling into a lovely smile.
"Really!? Oh, I hope we can meet soon. And, please, just call me Alexis. I don’t like how Miss Moore sounds," she eagerly responded, excited to hear she could expect another encounter.
"Okay. Goodbye for now, Alexis," Noah rushed open the glass door and headed to his VIP room.
"B-Bye..." Alexis awkwardly said, waving his hand as he watched the man enter the building.
Alexis’s heart races as she remembers his kiss—her thoughts still entwined with his, her heart fluttering at the memory of his tongue dancing with hers.
Her smile brightened as she thought about meeting him again in the future and finally learning his name.
However, her smile gradually faded later as something occurred to her.
’That bastard Jeremy Morgan! How dare he...’ Alexis cursed inwardly as she pulled out her cell phone and made a call.
"Hi, could you please check the CCTV at The Pearl Bar & Resto? I’d like to find out if Jeremy has already left. Thank you..."
Alexis speaks softly as she strolls along the balcony, gazing out at the sea. Her mind is overwhelmed with anger towards Jeremy Morgan, and her frustration with her parents grows as she realizes they trusted someone so shameless.
A few minutes later, a voice on the other end was heard, asking, "Lexy, he left a few minutes ago. What happened there? Why do you sound like you want to kill someone?"
Alexis growled in annoyance.
She massaged her forehead as she answered, "That shameless bastard is trying to force me to marry him. How could I possibly marry someone like him, a social scumbag? No way!"
"Calm down, Lexy! Don’t be mad. I believe there’s a way to stop that man from chasing you. No need to worry, I will help!"
"I know. But I’m just furious at him. This time, he’s gone too far — he forced me, almost..."
"Holly molly! He made you do that!?" The angry tone reflected from the other side.
"Not really happening. But that’s his plan tonight, bring me to his apartment, and you know what the rest is!"
Alexis took another deep sigh, really annoyed.
"Jeremy Fucking Morgan, such a asshole!"
"Damn, I hated my life. I’d rather end my relationship with my parents than marry that asshole!"
Alexis can’t help but express her anger toward her parents, but later, something crosses her mind. She hurriedly sets aside her stress.
"Can you please check the CCTV on the second-floor balcony? I want to find out who the young man is."
"What time?"
"Just five or ten minutes ago!" Alexis was thrilled to find out the man’s identity.
"I checked, but there’s no CCTV in that area."
"No way! I’m standing in front of the CCTV now."
Alexis said, while looking at the CCTV footage, in a puzzled tone.
"I think the CCTV device is broken..." The voice from the other end shocked Alexis.
...
While Alexis was searching for Noah, he was sitting in the passenger seat, leaning back comfortably as their car sped toward his house.
After rushing out of The Pearl Bar & Restaurant, Noah couldn’t forget what happened on the balcony. He still felt as if the girl was in his arms, her cold, soft lips pressed against his.
’Damn! Can you stop thinking about the kiss!?’ Noah scolded himself in his mind as he took a deep sigh and closed his eyes.
However, before Noah could rest, suddenly Jason’s voice echoed, breaking the silence.
"Noah, I recall you said earlier that we might stay there until three in the morning, until the bar closed. But it’s not even eleven, and we’re already rushing to leave that place. Is there anything that makes you leave that place in a hurry?"
Jason’s confusing tone gradually made Noah open his eyes and look ahead at the dark, empty highway.
What Jason said was true; that’s his plan. He wanted to stay longer there, at least until he found a clue about his target from The List. However, her encounter with Alexis made him reconsider his initial plan.
He didn’t want to encounter Jeremy Morgan after he kissed his fiancée, or else that stupid Jeremy would show his annoying tantrum again.
Leaving that place was the right decision for now.
After a few more minutes had passed, Noah finally turned to Jason and said, "Fuck Jeremy Morgan, I don’t want to waste my time meet him."
Jason chuckled warmly at his reply.
"I recall you saying you weren’t afraid of him. The last time you saw him, you even broke his wrist. Why don’t you want to meet him now?"
Noah took a deep sigh, casting his gaze back to the street ahead.
"You know what, Jason? I’m so unlucky tonight. On the balcony, I also met Jeremy’s fiancée. Not only did I talk to her, but I also kissed her. Can you imagine what Jeremy will do if he finds out?"
Silence hung in the air as Jason was momentarily taken aback by hearing Noah’s confession.
"Woah! Really? He might come after your life, for sure..."
Noah can’t help but laugh when he hears that Jason also shares the same vision as him.
"That’s why we’d better leave that place and go home to rest. I don’t wish to make Matthew’s hands splattered by that fool’s blood. Not yet. And certainly not tonight."
"Wise decision, Noah..."
...
Later,
Noah returned to his bedroom as soon as they arrived. However, before he entered his bedroom, a text message on his cell phone caught him by surprise.
"Hi. Noah, can we meet?"
