Chapter 1981: Chapter 634: Coveting the Artifact (3)
The unfortunate Mulan general was indeed right, Witherspoon indeed has no Magic Tutor.
What it does have are Saint Level Mages, and not just one.
Liu Zhenhuan and a group of prominent priests set up a feast, enjoying dinner in the pleasant evening breeze, completely ignoring the bustling camel cavalry below the city walls; the large volcanic rock table was filled with flowers and silver candlesticks, while the maids endlessly placed delicious dishes before every prominent figure, and beside them, a team of graceful dancers performed exotic dances to entertain everyone.
The city wall at the south gate has currently been taken over by the Summer Palace Guards and Temple Knights. Governor Neville just brought back five thousand Houser Archers from the southern province. Faced with the aggressive stance of the Mulan cavalry, the Governor declined the invitation to dine with the Shaman of Divine Songs and led the Houser Archers to climb swiftly to each vantage point on the city wall, closely monitoring the enemy’s every move.
“I think the Mulanese are just putting on a show, they certainly won’t dare to attack the city.” Brut nibbled delicately on the golden bamboo rice pancake, completely ignoring the oily, fragrant meats.
“If they really dare to attack the city, this hundred thousand camel cavalry won’t hold until the main army arrives.” Liu Zhenhuan tore off a plump chicken leg and handed it to Little Scab.
Little Scab is Guoguo’s Blood Infant, this little creature doesn’t talk much, with a model-like cold bald head, a physique as tall and strong as Old Liu, yet looking completely like a Frosty Pichu, attracting countless daring yet speechless gazes.
Little Scab first stuffed the chicken leg into Old Liu’s mouth to take a bite, then took a big bite himself, and gave Guoguo and Katusha each a bite. Finally, he pushed the chicken bone with a few meat strings and shiny saliva towards Helen’s red lips, wanting this “grandmother” to take a bite too, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
The atmosphere of the feast was a bit chilly. The ever-meat-loving Feilengcuish priests trampled over the priestly creed utterly, eating unfermented bread daily, only flavored with clear water and salt, a puritan lifestyle never seen in them; the temple priests were different though, maintaining their priestly conduct at least in public, displaying a poor farmer demeanor.
Although the dishes were plentiful, everyone found eating them to be a bit awkward.
The black-haired oriental boy priest from the Temple Knights had been staring at Old Liu since he sat down, making our Shaman of Divine Songs very uncomfortable.
“Your Holiness, would you please introduce this priest to me, what Beamon tribe does he belong to?” Liu Zhenhuan smiled and pointed to the oriental boy priest as he picked up his napkin, clearly, Brut revered him enough to bring him to this high-profile feast.
However, this boy seemed out of place with the surroundings, perhaps high-minded or arrogant, anyway, he seldom interacted with others, occasionally whispering to the elegant priestess beside him.
“Tevis is just like you, also belonging to the Piegel race, my esteemed Lord.” The Archbishop pointed to Liu’s hair and eyes, implying they looked alike, does it even need pointing out?
“Piegel race? Haha, you must be joking!”
“What is there to be ashamed of, belonging to the same race as you, Lord? Tevis is only nineteen this year; like Helen, he’s also a favored child of Natural Evolution’s battle god, our temple places high hopes on him.”
The black-haired priest Tevis immediately stood up and bowed to Old Liu.
“Natural Evolution? Have you evolved into a battle dance?” Helen asked curiously, looking up.
“No, my esteemed Lady, I…” Tevis began to continue speaking but, seeing the Archbishop signaling him, swallowed his words back.
“May the primal force be with you, my child.” Twenty-year-old Liu, unaware he was speaking to a nineteen-year-old peer, spoke with a tone both ancient and sacred.
“You are forever the monument I look up to, esteemed Lord.” Tevis smiled nervously, breaking the calm and indifference he had tried to maintain.
“This is Flor Mizuno, a soul priestess, Tevis is her apprentice.” The old gecko cheerfully introduced the beautiful priestess from Plumstone Isle to Old Liu.
Old Liu nodded repeatedly in realization.
The Mizuno family among the rabbit-headed Plumstone Isle race might not be as renowned as the Jose family, yet it is a renowned genius priestly lineage, not to be underestimated.
It’s said that twenty years ago, some young priests of the Mizuno family left the Yellow Sand Ancient Road to journey and explore the eastern world with followers; now that they’ve returned, it’s no surprise they’ve brought back a black-haired priest from the Silk Continent.
“No need for formalities, have a seat! Thank the battle god that you returned just in time, the kingdom needs your help now!” Helen and Moer proactively raised their goblets to toast the young priests: “To your youth!”
“Thank you, my Lady.”
“If I’m not mistaken, your Holiness, what you mentioned about enabling our priests to advance a level in ability, a fresh method must come from the contributions of these young priests, right?” Liu Zhenhuan’s discerning eyes quickly perceived that without the assistance of the talent-producing Mizuno family, he wouldn’t believe for a moment Brut dared boast to such an extent.
