ARDEN
“Come on–there’s no time to process everything.” Tessa said, offering her hand.
“What now?” I groaned, already wanting to sleep.

“Now that you bhave /bess to Echo, you can be updated with the school events. The different clubs are recruiting this time. bThis /bis another thing that doesn’t rely on faction loyalty, but it could still lead to us getting points.”
I quickly stood. That sounded like the Elite I dreamed about.
Tessa chuckled. “Arden, you’re adorable. You suddenly came to life.”
“Let’s go,” I bsaid /benthusiastically, leading Tessa out of the door and out of our bdorm/b. She bshook /bher head in amusement as I continued to drag her.
Do
you beven /bknow where to go?” she asked.
I stopped in my tracks and smiled sheepishly before turning around.
“It’s this way,” she said, leading me to thebyrinthine gardens, where plenty of clubs bhad /bset their bbooths/b. Hundreds of freshmen wandered around the garden, looking for the club that best suited them.
I looked bat /bbthe /bsigns one by one.
“Elite Combat,” I muttered. That bdefinitely /bwasn’t for me.
There were also a lot of sports teams, but then bagain/b, I wasn’t gifted with that physicality.
Just then, I stopped in horror when I saw a booth with a long line.
“ONS Club?” I said, capturing Tessa’s attention. It wasn’t the name bthat /bcaught me off guard, but the vulgar photo bof /btwo werewolves in their animal form having sex.
“bOne /bNight Stand club, Tessa introduced. “They’re bmeant /bfor bhaving /bsex within their members in order to increase their points exponentially
I smelled a bfamiliar /bscent band /bfound bJaxon /bbypassing bthrough /bthe line to input his name in. The others bsquealed /bin excitement as bsoon /bbas /bthey bsaw /bhim.
“Are you interested in-
I cut Tessa’s question off by dragging her away from their booth.
“Well, I’m assuming you don’t like that club”
I shook bmy /bbhead/b. “It’s a breeding site for infectionsb, /bI muttered.
bShe /bchuckled, throwing her head back in bamusement/b. “Do you bhave /banything in mind bthen/b? We can join multiple clubs, by the bway/b”
“I think I’ll just stick to one for now,” I said, band /bshe nodded in agreement. Just then, her eyes brightened when she saw the Theater Wolves club
“Can you sing or dance?” she asked.
I quickly shook my head. “Not at all. I’ve never been gifted in those aspects. Do you want to join?”
She slowly nodded, making me smile. “Go then,” I said. “Til look baround /bon my bown /b

I shook my head with a reassuring smile. “Get to know the members better,” I said. “Let’s just wait for each other in the dorm.”
“Alright,” she said after much reluctance, “See youter thenb!/b”
I nodded band /bwaved goodbye as I continued to navigate my way through the booths. Just then, I saw thest one at the veryer, with not much werewolves lining to sign up.
I read their sign intently.
Silver Quill Society. A
“Hey!” anky, tall man with thick–rimmed sses and equally thick lenses greeted. b“/bAre you interested?”
I grabbed one of the flyers band /bbegan reading what their club was supposed to be for.
“It’s an academic club,” he began exining as I read. “We focus on increasing our grades and academic standing in Elite. We also joinpetitions within and outside of the academy–Math, English, debate. You name it.”
“We’re one of the most prestigious and exclusive clubs bin /bthe school.”
I turned my attention back to him, a small smile on my lips. I was never too good with the extra–curricrs, but I was proud of my academic achievements. I believed it was my greatest strength.
I never got to show it much when I was in high school because of all the bullying I faced from Jaxon’s fans and my brothers
supporters.
“My name’s Fort,” he introduced, holding out his hand.
I took bit /bwith ba /bsmall smile. “Arden.”
“Where do I sign up?” I asked right away.
A wide smile appeared on his lips. “bYou /bcan write your name here. However, like I said, we’re ban /bexclusive club. So, there’s ba /bscreening for everyone.”
“Oh, I muttered “bThat’s /bokay. What bdo /bwe bhave /bto do?”
“bYou /bactually came right on time!” bhe /beximed. “We bhave /bonest seat left for the screening before it could start”
“bHuh/bb?/b” I uilted my head to the side. Fort ced bhis /bhands on my shoulders and began pushing me toward one of the buildings near thebyrinthine garden. It bwas /bbone/b–bstory/b, but wide, band /bbhad /bsilver intricacies surrounding it.
bAt /bthe very top, the words ‘Silver Quill‘ were engraved in stone.
“Do byour /bbest!”
With that, Fort opened the door and pushed me inside a broom /bfilled with more than fifty freshmen. I froze in my spot as they blooked /bat me like I bwasn’t /bbmeant /bto be there.
I bgulped /band looked toward the front, where Miss Lovesonstood. bShe /bsmirked as soon bas /bshe saw bme/b.
“Well, it bsecans /bwe’replete. We can start bnow/b.”
“Start bwhat/b?” I muttered.
b“/bArden, please take your seat.”
I gasped bsoftly /bwhen she said bmy /bbname/b. She remembered it? The others, too, appeared to be on edge when she called bmy /bname. eyeing me with intensity

I cleared my throat and looked around for an empty seat, finding one near the very back. I quickly went and sat, letting out a deep breathb. /b
Fort didn’t exin anything to me just yet!
1 bshook /bmy head, but even bthen/b, I couldn’t deny bthe /bloud beating of my heart. I was pretty excited for this, band /bwith Miss Loveson as the club adviser. I was willing to do my best.
“You still smell good,” I heard the person next to me mutter.
I quickly turned to the side and saw Elias looking at me with his head slightly tilted, a smirk ying on his lips.
“I didn’t expect you to be someone who would join this club. You don’t look much like an intellectual.”
My bbrows /binstinctively furrowed.
Wellb, /bmaybe there was one person that didn’t make this club so great.
