CHAPTER 161: FRETA AND NEW PORT

Entering his room, Azrael sat down on the sofa and closed his eyes for a moment, his heightened senses spreading throughout the room to check if there were any hidden monitoring devices.

Only after confirming that there was nothing suspicious did he use his smart band and look at the information Glen had sent him earlier.

According to the files, the cases of people disappearing had started around one and a half months ago.

At first, the security forces had not taken it seriously and continued their investigations as usual. However, within just half a month, when the number of missing people reached over ten thousand, the security forces finally realized something was wrong and began investigating the matter seriously.

During their investigation, they discovered that it was the work of an underground force known as the Transcendent Organization, which had been active in the Flato Solar System for the past few years.

Unfortunately, even after uncovering the group responsible for the kidnappings, the security forces had been unable to find out what the organization was truly planning.

The files Glen sent also contained details about the recently disappeared individuals.

Azrael glanced through the information of several thousand missing people, but even after going through their records, he could not find any common link that might provide a clue to the Transcendent Organization’s purpose.

Age, gender, status, social standing—there was no similarity among the kidnapped victims, and the organization had taken people from every background.

Since studying the profiles of the missing yielded no results, Azrael shifted his focus to the locations where the kidnappings had occurred.

Yet even then, he realized that the abductions had taken place all over the planet. There was no single hotspot; people had vanished from numerous different areas.

In fact, the total number of disappeared individuals had already exceeded 40,000.

Azrael frowned at this revelation and, using both his consciousness and his Infinite Comprehension trait, he began analyzing the abduction locations of every single person.

After an hour of going through the files in detail, Azrael finally sorted everything out and found a lead.

’Although people are disappearing from all over the planet, around 20 percent of those who vanished came from these two cities...’ Azrael looked at the names of the two cities displayed on the holographic screen before him.

One of them was Freta, a city just fifty kilometers away from his current location. The other was New Port, a coastal city about five hundred kilometers away.

Azrael studied the details of both cities, and after a few minutes, made up his mind.

’If I use the method I had thought before coming here, I might be able to find some clues...’ He muttered inwardly, deciding to head to Freta City tomorrow.

He considered whether he should bring Luo Bingqing and Elyara along with him. But after weighing his plan, he concluded that the method he intended to use would make their presence unnecessary.

’Maybe I should ask them to go to New Port City to investigate,’ He thought.

Although the idea crossed his mind, he wasn’t certain they would agree. After all, it wasn’t as though he was their leader, and they had no obligation to listen to him.

In the three days he had spent traveling with them, he had already figured out their personalities.

Luo Bingqing was calm and quiet, the type who only spoke when necessary and preferred to mind his own business.

Elyara, on the other hand was somewhat haughty and arrogant. From her tone and mannerisms, it was obvious to Azrael that she came from a prominent elven family with considerable social standing.

Even though they had conversed a few times during their journey, it would not be wrong to say that they were still far from the level where they could cooperate seamlessly without conflict.

’Well, it doesn’t matter whether they listen to me or not. I just hope they don’t ruin things by doing something foolish...’ Azrael shook his head before checking the time.

It was already ten o’clock at night, so he quickly took a shower and then ordered food through room service. While waiting for the food to arrive, he called home to speak with Kael and the others, letting them know he had reached Planet Fras safely.

During the video call, he noticed Kael wearing a very flashy outfit that Ashara had bought for him earlier in the afternoon while shopping.

Azrael mourned for his younger brother’s suffering for all of one and a half seconds before completely forgetting about his misery.

When the room service staff knocked on the door to deliver his dinner, Azrael ended the call.

Before he hung up, however, Ashara and Silas repeatedly reminded him to stay safe and not to hesitate in using the props they had given him if danger arose.

Opening the door, Azrael watched as a man pushed a food trolley inside. After placing it near the table, the man bowed politely before leaving without a word.

Before eating, Azrael tested the food using a device he had brought with him, making sure it wasn’t poisoned or tampered with.

Given how deeply the Transcendent Organization was rooted on Planet Fras, he knew it wouldn’t be surprising if they attempted to assassinate him, Luo Bingqing, or Elyara through something as subtle as poisoned food.

When the results showed the food was clean, Azrael finally ate. After finishing his meal, he sat down and began cultivating the Sun, Moon, and Star Sutra while allowing his second consciousness to focus on his source core.

Since most people could only spend a limited amount of time cultivating their source due to other responsibilities, their progress in advancing their source core was usually slow.

Azrael, however, had his second consciousness focused on cultivation it almost all times, which allowed his progress to accelerate rapidly.

He had reached Level 14 just two days ago, but thanks to his constant cultivation, he was already close to breaking through again and reaching Level 15.

A few hours later, Azrael stopped cultivating the Sun, Moon, and Star Sutra and decided to take a nap, leaving his second consciousness to continue focusing on his source core and monitor his surroundings.

Nothing unusual happened that night, and soon, morning arrived.

After freshening up, Azrael went out to meet Luo Bingqing and Elyara. However, the moment he met them, he couldn’t help but feel surprised when he heard their very first words.
