Chapter 314: Louis
CHAPTER 314: CHAPTER 314: LOUIS
Olivia, on the other hand, felt that Aurora’s words made sense. Immediately, she nodded, and both sisters went to a quiet corner of the ballroom, away from the crowd.
That was when they spotted it, a shining silver platter piled high with perfect little cupcakes. Each one was decorated with swirls of cream and tiny edible pearls that sparkled under the warm light.
Without another thought, Olivia reached for one, then another, then another. Aurora joined her, though she ate slowly, enjoying the soft sweetness. Olivia, however, was clearly on a mission. She had already unwrapped her second cupcake when Aurora gave her a side look.
"If you keep eating like this," Aurora said, lowering her voice so the nearby waiter would not hear, "you are definitely going to gain weight. Especially in the waist area."
Olivia froze mid-bite and turned to glare at her sister. "Oh, please," she said, rolling her eyes. "You are just jealous of my slim waist. If you keep teasing me, I will curse you so your boobs never grow another inch."
Aurora blinked at her, speechless for a moment. "You... you are truly a very poisonous person," she finally said, shaking her head.
Olivia nodded without shame, licking a bit of frosting off her finger. "I know."
Aurora sighed, deciding it was not worth starting an argument over cupcakes. But before Olivia could grab her third one, she suddenly noticed something strange.
The silver platter was gone. Not just the cupcakes... the entire tray had disappeared.
Olivia’s brows furrowed. "Wait. Where did it go?" she muttered. She looked around, spotting a waiter carrying a tray of drinks, another with little sandwiches, but no cupcakes in sight.
She was about to flag one down to ask for more when a smooth, sweet voice called out from behind her.
"Hi, babe."
The words made Olivia’s heart skip a beat. Aurora raised one eyebrow, turning to see who it was.
A tall, handsome young man was walking toward them. His suit was perfectly fitted, his shoes polished, his hair styled just right. Everything about him screamed wealth and confidence.
He stopped in front of Olivia and, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer.
Aurora let out a low whistle. "Wow, Olivia," she said with a teasing grin.
"You are so beautiful that even without trying to seduce anyone, you already caught yourself a rich heir. I should be taking lessons from you."
Olivia’s face darkened immediately. She shot Aurora a look that promised revenge later. Then she turned to the man, her lips pressed in a thin line. She knew him.
They had met only a few days ago, and now she deeply regretted taking money from him for a small favor. She had not expected him to act as if they were already married.
Taking a deep breath, she placed her hand on his wrist and firmly pushed his arm away from her waist. "If you dare to touch me again," she said calmly, "I will bite your arm. And not in a playful way."
The man did not look offended at all. In fact, he chuckled softly. "I never knew you had that kind of... interest," he said, his tone playful.
Olivia’s eyes widened, and her temper flared. Without hesitation, she reached out and pinched his side, hard. The man almost jumped high enough to hit the chandelier.
Aurora stared in mock amazement.
"Wow. If he joined the Olympics and you pinched him like that, we would win a gold medal for sure. Your contribution to the country would be unmatched."
Olivia gave her sister a deep glare. She was used to destroying others with her sharp tongue, but against Aurora, threats were the only weapon she had.
She took a breath, forcing herself to stay calm. She turned back to the man, ready to say something, when another voice called her name from across the room.
"Olivia!"
The moment she heard that second voice, Olivia felt her stomach drop. She had a bad feeling that coming to this party was a mistake.
Aurora’s eyes widened slightly, then she gave another low whistle. "Incredible. You are managing to attract two men while doing nothing but eating cupcakes. Maybe that is the secret to romance... eat desserts in public."
If Olivia could hear Aurora’s thoughts, she would have pulled her cheeks hard and told her to stop imagining nonsense.
When the newcomer stepped into view, Aurora’s light mood faded instantly. Her smile vanished, replaced by a look of annoyance. "Mateo," she muttered.
Olivia forced her face into a neutral expression. "What are you doing here?" she asked.
Mateo looked genuinely surprised to see her. In his mind, Olivia’s family was rich but not wealthy enough to receive an invitation to a party like this.
These events were highly exclusive, and invitations were limited. If she were here, it had to mean something. Perhaps she had found out he would be here and came because of him. The thought pleased him, and his mood brightened.
"I came for the party," Mateo said smoothly. "But I am alone. Now that you are here, I would like to keep you company. You must be alone too."
Aurora stepped in before Olivia could reply. "She already has company," she said sharply. "And she does not need anyone else’s."
Mateo looked at Aurora with a faint smirk, as if he were indulging a child. "You should not interfere in adult matters," he said lightly.
Then he turned back to Olivia and reached for her hand. "Come on. Let us spend some time together."
Before his fingers could touch her, another hand caught his wrist firmly. Mateo turned his head in surprise. It was the same man who had been hugging Olivia earlier.
Louis’s expression was calm, but his tone was icy. "You should keep your distance. Do not get too close to her, or I will make sure you regret it."
