A loud, intrusive ringing echoed in the room, pulling me out of a deep, dreamless sleep. My body felt heavy, exhausted, but also strangely charged, as if I’d just run a marathon. I pushed myself up, feeling a little groggy, the unfamiliar sheets of the hotel bed soft against my bare skin.

My head was a throbbing, confusing mess, and the first thing I registered was the blindingly bright screen of my phone as I pulled it close. My eyes, still bleary, caught on the caller ID, and I frowned.

“Dad?”

A sudden jolt shot through my mind, and my eyes widened. The memory of her hit me like a physical blow. The feel of her body, the taste of her, the smell of her scent, all of it came crashing down.

I pushed uppletely, my body rigid. An unsettling silence filled the room. The bed beside me was empty but warm. Like someone had been here. So it wasn’t a dream. I had lost my virginity. To a vampire. A vampire who either seemed to have vanished, or hade to herself and ran away. The thought was a sharp, painful blow. I pursed my lips. Isn’t a girlfriend supposed to wake up her boyfriend before leaving?

Wait, did she even remember what exactly she’d said–I looked down at the time–in the afternoon? It was three after midnight. The realization hit me then. We had been here for hours. I cursed under my breath, as I picked up the call, bringing the phone back to my ear. “Hey da-”

“Where the hell are you?” He asked, his voice low and furious, as it grated at my ears. I winced, pulling the phone away.

“Geez. I’m fine. Why are you so worked up?” I questioned, feeling confused. I had never heard my father this upset before. Not even when I crashed my car at seventenn.

“Get home right this minute.” He said, the words a lowmand. I frowned.

“Is something wrong?” I asked. I had a bad feeling in my gut, something that was telling me that this wasn’t just about me. He sighed wearily on the other end. “I told you not to get involved with the wrong people. But you didn’t listen.” The words were usatory and filled with anger.

“Wrong… people?” I murmured. Then my eyes widened. Did he realize something about me and Sienna? Or Sienna being a vampire? No. I shook my head. Better not to make assumptions. Not yet. I had to get home. I had to know what was going on first.

“Let’s talk when I get back.” I said, and dad cut the call without another word. He was really upset, wasn’t he?

I took a deep breath and pushed off the bed, my body stiff and slightly aching. In a good way, like it did after a workout. I walked around the room to pick up the fallen clothes before I put them on. The faint, sweet smell of her perfume was still lingering in the air and on my clothes, a phantom sensation that made my heart ache. My mind suddenly went back to her words only a few hours ago, and my heart skipped a beat.

“When I’m with you…. the world looks so beautiful…. It’s unfair.” She’d whispered, her voice hoarse.

If that was the case… then why did she leave? Did she regret it? Had I somehow forced myself onto her? No.

She was in her right mind in the ssroom. I had asked her multiple times if she was sure. Then why? Why did she leave?

I didn’t even have her number. Or her address to contact her. My hands clenched into fists.

I made my way down. Paid the hotel bill before making my way to my car and starting it up. The whole drive home I couldn’t help recalling each and every second of our encounter. The memory was a sweet, painful thing, a movie ying over and over in my head. I had asked her what she wanted me to be to her. She said, after a long while, “Mine.”

The word had sounded like a confession making my heart skip a beat. I wasn’t sure if it was because of the heat. But I knew that was her way of confessing.

“Will you be my girlfriend then?” I had whispered, my voice a low plea. And she’d nodded. She’d nodded, that was a yes, right? Or was it my illusion?

How she’d flushed. How she’d smiled, cried, moaned. Her every movement had been etched into my mind. Every time I bit her, she shuddered in pleasure. I took a deep breath, a shaky, defeated thing, trying to dispel the image. But it was no use. How did I still have the energy for a boner after four rounds of sex?

I reached our mansion in about twenty minutes. As soon as I saw the multiple cars parked outside, I had a bad feeling in my stomach, a mix of dread and fear. Why was grandpa here? And…. a Legacy car? Who else hade here?

Not to mention this strange, nagging feeling I’d been having ever since I woke up. I had tried not to think about it for a while. But it was slowly getting worse.

It was a dull, aching pain in my chest, a strange sensation that was telling me that Sienna wasn’t happy. Why did I have this strange feeling that… wherever she was… she was upset, even crying? I scoffed. It was so stupid, I had begun believing that I truly had some connection with her even though I’m just a normal human.

I shook my head, pulled out the car keys and handed it to the chauffeur before speeding inside our home, my feet skipping some steps. As soon as I entered the open door to the foyer, I tensed. The air was thick with a strange, powerful energy that made the hairs on my arms stand up.

There was a man standing in front of dad. Simr in stature… however… I had this distinct feeling.

I frowned. Why did he seem like a Vampire? And since when had I started recognizing vampires? The thought was confusing.

However, I didn’t need to confirm it by asking because as soon as I stepped forward, the man’s eyes snapped to me. Burning a bright red. A wild, angry thing. My blood ran cold.

“So you’re the pup who’s been going after my daughter?” He questioned, his voice low.

Pup?

“Daughter?” I echoed the word, before my eyes widened. “You’re Sienna’s Father?”

“Haider,e here.” Dad said, his voice sounded not at all polite. No, he was angry. Why was he angry? Why did they all look like they were moments away from shooting each other?

“What is going on here?” I asked, not budging an inch.

“What happened is that you dared to touch my daughter and now you’re going to deal with the repercussions.” The man sneered.
