BOUND TO THREE ALPHAS

Chapter 97: New Traditions
The hybrid child—who introduced themselves as River—had been taken to the healer’s quarters, their condition temporarily stabilized but far from cured.
Now, two days later, representatives from supernatural communities across the globe were arriving for what many were calling the most important ceremony in werewolf history.
"Seventy-three packs confirmed," Marcus reported, checking his list as another convoy of vehicles wound up the mountain road.
"Plus delegations from fifteen rogue communities that haven’t spoken to organized packs in decades." Liana watched from the ceremonial platform as wolves she’d only heard about in legends stepped onto their territory.
The Alpha of the Northern Ice Pack, whose wolves were said to be descended from ancient frost spirits.
The Luna of the Desert Runners, whose territory spanned three countries. Even representatives from the mysterious Shadow Pack, who rarely left their underground caverns.
"Nervous?" Kael asked, joining her at the platform’s edge. "Terrified," she admitted. "What if they think we’re just naive children playing at leadership?"
"Then they’d be wrong," Jace said, appearing on her other side. "What we’ve built here isn’t child’s play. It’s revolutionary." Rowan completed their circle, his calm presence steadying her racing heart.
"The connections we forged during the healing—they stretch farther than we realized. Some of these representatives felt the change from thousands of miles away."
As if to prove his point, a tall woman with intricate tattoos covering her arms approached the platform.
She moved with the fluid grace of someone who had never been anything but confident. "Guardian Luna," she said, her accent carrying hints of ancient languages.
"I am Elena Moonwhisper, speaking for the Coastal Territories. We felt your change like ripples across water. Our shamans say the very fabric of supernatural existence has shifted." "Is that... good or bad?" Liana asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
Elena’s smile was truly warm. "That depends entirely on what you do with the power you’ve unleashed." Before Liana could ask what she meant, Talia came running across the ceremonial grounds, her face flushed with joy and worry.
"They’re ready to start," she stated. "But River is asking for you. They say they have something important to tell you before the ceremony begins." Liana excused herself and hurried to the healer’s rooms.
River sat on the edge of a bed, their form more solid than it had been two days ago but still flashing occasionally around the edges.
"You helped me," River said without introduction. "Your Guardian energy is the only thing keeping me stable right now."
"We’ll find a permanent solution," Liana promised. "That’s what I need to tell you." River’s eyes—currently a deep purple that definitely wasn’t human—fixed on hers.
"I’m not the only one. There are others like me, born in the last year. And we’re all linked." The possibilities hit Liana like a physical blow. "Connected how?"
"When one of us fades, we all get weaker. When one of us is healed, we all get stronger." River’s form flickered more strongly. "But there’s something else. Something my mother made me promise to tell you." "What?"
"We can see things. All of us crosses. We see the spaces between worlds, the places where different realities touch." River’s voice dropped to a whisper.
"And something is moving in those places. Something that’s been waiting for beings like us to exist."
Before Liana could ask more questions, the ceremonial bells began to ring, calling everyone to the grand ceremony. River squeezed her hand with fingers that felt only half-real.
"Go be crowned, Guardian Luna. But remember—we mixed children might be more important than anyone realizes."
An hour later, Liana stood before the largest gathering of supernatural beings in recorded history. The ceremonial grounds had been expanded to handle nearly a thousand representatives, with more arriving by the hour.
"Today, we witness something unprecedented," Elder Marcus announced, his voice magically amplified to reach every part of the assembly. "Not just the coronation of a new type of leader, but the birth of a new age for all supernatural beings."
The ceremony began with traditional elements—the lighting of sacred fires, the calling upon ancient spirits, the presentation of symbolic gifts from different communities.
But as it continued, new traditions emerged organically. Instead of kneeling before her, representatives stood as equals.
Instead of pledging loyalty to a single pack, they spoke of mutual teamwork. Instead of keeping rigid hierarchies, they celebrated the diversity of their different skills.
When it came time for Liana to speak, she stepped forward with her heart pounding but her voice strong.
"For too long, our world has been divided by old fears," she began. "We’ve let rank determine worth, let territorial disputes become blood feuds, let differences become barriers instead of strengths."
Murmurs of agreement spread through the crowd. "As your Guardian Luna, I don’t ask for your acceptance. I ask for your support.
Together, we can build something our ancestors never imagined—a supernatural community based on choice rather than birth, on contribution rather than rank, on love rather than power."
The reaction was thunderous. Howls, cheers, and sounds of acceptance from dozens of different supernatural species filled the air.
But the most powerful moment came when the triplets stepped forward together. "We stand before you not as rivals competing for one mate," Kael announced, "but as brothers united in purpose."
"Our bond with Liana isn’t about possession," Jace added. "It’s about teamwork. She chose all of us, and we chose each other."
"In the old ways, this would have been impossible," Rowan ended. "But we’re making new ways. Ways where love multiplies instead of separates."
The three of them joined hands with Liana, and the evolved mate bond between them pulsed visibly, creating a warm golden light that every supernatural being present could feel.
"These are our new laws," Liana announced, holding up a scroll that had been made with input from every rank and territory.
"Omegas have the right to leadership roles. Betas can choose their own paths instead of being trapped between ranks.
Alphas lead through service, not control. And everyone—regardless of birth rank—has a say in the decisions that affect their lives."
As she spoke, Talia stepped forward wearing new ceremonial robes that marked her unprecedented role as Omega Seer.
Behind her came representatives from every rank, each holding a candle that would be used to light a new eternal flame symbolizing their unity.
But just as the flame-lighting ritual was about to begin, a commotion erupted at the edge of the gathering. Gasps and shocked whispers spread through the crowd like wildfire.
Through the forest surrounding the ceremonial grounds, figures were emerging that made every supernatural being present question everything they thought they knew about their world. Vampires with skin that sparkled in the sunlight.
Fae animals whose beauty was almost painful to look at directly. Witches whose power crackled clearly in the air around them. Even what looked to be angels, their wings folded but unmistakably present.
At the front of this impossible parade walked a figure that made Liana’s blood run cold. Tall, elegant, with features that seemed carved from marble and eyes that held the depth of centuries.
"Forgive the interruption," the figure said, their voice carrying easily across the stunned gathering. "I am Councilor Vex of the Supernatural High Council.
We represent the oldest supernatural species on this world." They pointed to the diverse group behind them. "We’ve been watching your... project... with great interest.
The transformations you’ve achieved, the barriers you’ve broken, the new connections you’ve forged." Liana felt every sense screaming danger, but she forced herself to step forward. "You’re welcome to join our event. We believe in cooperation between all supernatural beings."
Councilor Vex’s smile was beautiful and frightening. "How refreshing. Though I’m afraid we’re not here to join you."
The temperature around the ceremonial grounds dropped significantly. "We’re here to test you," Vex continued.
"You see, for millennia, we’ve kept careful separation between supernatural species. Vampires stay with vampires, fae with fae, werewolves with werewolves. It’s kept the balance, prevented wars, maintained order."
They gestured toward River, who was visible through the healer’s quarters window, their hybrid form flickering more quickly now.
"But your acts have begun to break down those barriers. Hybrid children are just the beginning. Soon, we predict, all supernatural species will begin to blur together.
And that," Vex’s eyes glowed with old power, "cannot be allowed to happen."
The assembled werewolves began to growl, but Vex raised a hand that somehow ordered instant silence.
"So we offer you a choice, Guardian Luna. Dissolve this new order you’ve made. Return to the old ways of strict separation and order. And we will heal your hybrid children and leave you in peace."
"And if I refuse?" Liana asked, though she already knew the answer wouldn’t be good. Councilor Vex’s smile widened, showing teeth that were just slightly too sharp.
"Then we will demonstrate why the old ways existed in the first place. Starting with every hybrid child currently alive."
As if summoned by their words, River’s form became totally translucent in the healer’s quarters window. Across the world, Liana somehow knew, other hybrid children were starting to fade.
The greatest supernatural gathering in history had just become a standoff that could decide the future of every magical being on Earth.
