Bro, I'm not an Undead!
Chapter 1609: Godspeed Highway! (1)
It was queer indeed that Nigerra felt pressed enough to use her Majestic Territory. She had slaughtered three of the Pelian House Heads, all of the general combatants that had been under Vali and Maxim, and immobilised the Stark Troops using her Eyes of Moving. Indeed, she had a stark advantage against her immediate enemies.
Well, all except Gerriey.
The woman was paralysed like everyone else, but her hand had been raised before she was imprinted with Nigerra's arrows.
Thus, in the instant that followed Shannazah, Agnees and Morde being killed, she immediately fired a Triplefold Las Aggrante (an insidiously fast Aggrante that targeted the soul rather than the body) at Nigerra.
Nigerra's instincts had flared. She'd seen one of her peers get hit by one of these at point blank range and die instantly, and this was an even stronger version of that. Thus, she went all out.
"Majestic Territory Expulsion, Godspeed Highways!"
The Territory exploded out with such ungodly greed that every combatant who belonged to Aigas was astonished.
It devoured everyone in the vicinity, excluding only the Death Knight and Sila.
The seven Generals of Boron.
Aurolio and Elita.
Maxim, Vali and Uyuniya.
Kintar and Pherdanta.
And of course, the masked man Rias.
Everyone was welcomed into a dark colossal space littered with an unending series of winding, narrow pathways floating in the air. Each one was of a different colour, shining in neon as it looped, rose, fell or marched straight without a bump before disappearing into the far distance. Other than these roads, the horizon, skies and ground faded into darkness with vague, blinking stars. It was almost as though this Territory was in some way, a parody of the great void.
Nigerra's 'guests' weren't the only living things in the Territory.
Along each pathway were luminous, human-shaped figures racing at light speed at the very minimum across the lengths. They never stopped. It didn't bother them at all that for the first time in a while, they had company.
'Such a thick Territory!' Kintar thought with a frown. She immediately mobilised her Genuine Divine energy to shield herself from the Territory's assault functions. She had noted it immediately: merely shrouding yourself with Nitros wouldn't cut it in a Territory of this calibre. 'This might be the strongest Territory I've ever seen. Dismantling it won't be easy.'
She wasn't the only one who immediately resisted Nigerra's dominance, though.
Uyuniya, Elita and Aurolio did so effortlessly with Void Clot.
The five Generals employed their Amras; one of them shielded Ashema.
The masked man needn't have worried about being assaulted by Nigerra, of course. He merely took in the locations and responses of everyone captured within the Territory.
It was… amusing.
Unfortunately, though, everyone else was free game for Nigerra. She launched her assault in 0.00024 of a second.
The Stark Troops (who couldn't immediately activate the defensive Starmations from their armour), Illyinni Wolverik, Shura Desmonn, and Pherdanta – who was still in a bind – were suddenly warped towards the winding, glowing pathways, one per each. As soon as their feet met the slick surfaces, a violent force crashed into them from behind. It was a burst of kinetic energy that acted upon them on an atomic level, pushing them to move forward. Resisting it was tantamount to courting death. It kept mounting exponentially by the split second. Depending on the target, it would quickly dismantle their body composition in a heartbeat.
The Stark Troops and the House Heads found themselves sprinting forward involuntarily. It was an instinctual reaction, and actually the best way to survive. The more they ran, they less of an effect the kinetic assault had on them. But of course, it kept mounting and mounting. It demanded the target to keep running faster and faster.
'Shit!' Gerriey cried from within. Nigerra's arrows blew away, allowing her and everyone else to dash forth. She was going at her maximum speed by the third second. By the fourth, the pathway demanded that she sprint at half the speed of light to stay alive.
Indeed, this was Godspeed Highway's Primary assault function, but this wasn't the worst of it.
Gerriey barely managed to spot a figure storming from up ahead. The humanoid figure effortlessly streaked along the loops and hoops ahead of her on the yellow pathway. Soon, it would be upon her and they would collide.
Indeed, it was one of the living beings already in this Territory – a sign of the Territory's incredible potency.
'We're going to crash!' thought Gerriey. 'And it's not going to end well for me!'
It wasn't just her. Everyone either sensed or spotted the incoming 'traffic', and by what they all could only assume to be a trait of the Territory, they realised that if they didn't sprint fast enough, faster than the oncoming shining athletes, they would be run through and die instantly!
BOOOM! BOOM!
It didn't take long for two of the Stark Troops to give an example of the dreadful fate.
A burly, silver humanoid doing the high knee on the pathway at well beyond the speed of light bolted through one of the armoured Troops, leaving behind nothing but a fuming dark powder. Another of the sprinters, a feminine red figure, had made the graceful attempt to jump over her rival… only to blow through their upper body instead, leaving their legs intact but torso-less.
BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!
Three more of the Troops were slaughtered in less than an instant.
Maxim was next. She just knew it. Her face paled. She didn't see the enemy, but she could sense their oncoming bombastic momentum from beyond her. Death was approaching.
Vali was the same. There was nothing they could do.
"KINTAAAAR!" Pherdanta cried aloud.
Out of everyone who had been ensnared by the Territory's Primary assault function, she was the only one who resisted.
Her Granted Star Armament was being forced to work against her, immobilising her body and her energies, and her sword would not listen to her. However, Pherdanta was the Infinite Sword God even without the sword.
Dance of the Necrotic Butcher (her sword) acted as the nexus to her new technique, [Infinite Sword God, Sardonic Latitude], connecting her Territory, Cogent Stark Order, and her slew of slashing techniques.
…But she was still capable of cutting things with every part of her body, and she didn't even need any energy to fuel such abilities.
Pherdanta was very weak at the moment, indeed, but Nigerra's Territory had not forced her to take a single step along the orange neon pathway she had been on. Indeed, had.
After all… with nothing but a fierce, long glare, the Commander of the Stark Troops had cut down a large stretch of the pathway and fallen along with it.
