The voice was much clearer this time, more refined. The long pauses between sentences had disappeared.

"The Demon God… How do I know you're not just another one of Aria's lies?"

"Believe what you want. I’ll keep talking regardless. I’ve already been destroyed by that woman. What more do I have to lose?"

Given my situation, I found this reasoning plausible enough to accept. At first, I thought this might be another one of Aria’s traps, but really, what could be worse than becoming a living battery, drained of my power for a thousand years?
