Rosaria, who had been waiting with an anxious expression, began to jump up and down the moment she saw me. The fragments of time that had been clinging to the protective barrier before I headed toward the medium were no longer visible.

It wasn’t that they were gone; they simply couldn’t even get close to me anymore. Fragments were still pouring out of the crack, but they were being torn apart by time itself before even half of them could descend.

It wasn’t just the fragments. The barrier surrounding the dimensional gate and the seven people nearby was also dangerously trembling, as if it might shatter at any moment. My vision, enhanced to its maximum by physical reinforcement, scanned the gate.
