After leaving a note for Mira Crate and disappearing, the Sword Saint Rahel wandered aimlessly across the world. She walked wherever her feet took her, drifting endlessly through various places her eyes landed upon.

At times, she even wandered for long periods in the Demon Realm. The demons did not dare touch the Sword Saint. With the Demon King gone, there was no one who could stop her.

'...What if I had just lived my life as an insignificant middle-ranked knight?'

As Rahel's feet carried her forward without purpose, her mind lingered on the words Mira had said to her.

It was all true. Rahel was destined to be humanity's hope. Although there was a hero chosen by the goddess, it was painfully clear that the hero’s skills were no match for Rahel's.

Given time, the hero might become stronger because of the Holy Sword. But if the Demon King attacked before that 'someday' arrived, Rahel believed it would be up to her to stand in his way.

On the other hand, she was still terrified. She feared that, despite everything, she might not be able to face the Demon King who had once utterly defeated her in the past. What if nothing had truly changed even now?

That was why she couldn’t bear hearing that the Demon King was dead. It felt as if something that had kept Rahel from being crushed under the weight of her role as the Sword Saint had been ripped away entirely.

She couldn’t stand the overwhelming emptiness that followed.

'What is left of Rahel, if not the Sword Saint?'

Ironically, these feelings were evidence that Rahel was no longer the transcendent warrior she once was.

The shackles that had bound her ankles, the weight of her duties pressing on her shoulders—once those were released, Rahel could finally contemplate the value of her existence beyond being the Sword Saint.

"…What is this?"

One day, while meditating in a secluded place, Rahel sensed something unusual and stood up. She swept her hand through the empty air, and her fingertips caught on a golden light.

Instinctively, she drew her sword and swung it. Time itself split in two around her, and a tiny safe zone formed in the midst of the swirling currents.@@novelbin@@
