Chapter 78 - Settlement for Nightmare Haunted Campus

Author: 我家的女友叫毛毛
updatedAt: 2025-09-21

[Based on the player’s performance, settlement proceeds as follows:]

First Blood: Used the vanishing door bug at the start to kill one player. Rating increased: C → B

Lightning Highlight Moment: Defeated opponent using ninjutsu Raiton: Kirin. Rating increased: B → A

Perfect Physical Exam Score: Set an unprecedented record for Nightmare Haunted Campus. Rating increased: A → SSS

However, due to numerous reports against you, your rating has been adjusted. Report details are as follows:

Joint complaint from over 1,000 ghost students: Li Dayong; Wang Erzhuang; Zhao Xiaoya…

A total of 1,020 ghosts have stamped bloody handprints to jointly accuse “Family” of school bullying.

Bai Wan stared at the message, speechless.

Attached below were multiple testimonies and photo “evidence”…

Student testimony 1:

“Admin, the Family used lava to blast my head clean off.”

Photo.jpg: (A ghost student lying on the ground, his head resting five or six meters away.)

Student testimony 2:

“Also, my girlfriend was shot underwater by that Demon Peashooter. She almost drowned.”

Photo.jpg: A ghost girl lies barely conscious on the riverbank. Nearby, a ghost boy sobs uncontrollably.

Even the PE teacher had submitted a statement:

“I can testify to Family’s crimes. He didn’t just knock my student’s head off—he knocked mine off too.”

Photo.jpg: A teacher stands in the stadium… headless.

At that point, Bai Wan completely lost it.

Are you all acting or what?! Want an Oscar?! Forget the ghost students, but you, you Headless Ghost—where would you even HAVE a head to begin with?!

And your drowning girlfriend—wasn’t she a Drowned Ghost?! What do you mean she almost drowned?!

Then the system continued:

“In light of your school bullying behavior, which violates the values of spiritual civilization, and goes against the principle of 'ghost-oriented unity to build a better haunted school'… your rating has been reduced: SSS → SS.”

Bai Wan scowled as his rating dropped again… and the reports weren’t even over yet.

Report from a certain charred corpse:

“The player ‘Family’ showed no martial virtue. In standard PvP, attacks proceed back and forth. But he opened with an S-rank jutsu and zapped me with Raiton: Kirin.

Worse, he continued to meme just before I died. He then revived me again and again, repeatedly humiliating, bullying, and exploiting my corpse to conduct lightning strikes on other ghosts. It was utterly heartless. I beg the system admin for justice.”

Bai Wan cried out in grievance:

Hold on, I only revived you ONCE by accident! And what do you mean ‘back and forth’? This isn’t a turn-based battle system! Have you been reading too many novels?!

But the system replied without mercy:

“Repeated lightning strikes and corpse abuse verified. Morally depraved. Rating reduction: SS → S.”

Very well.

Bai Wan grinned bitterly. Looks like he’d have to nuke a few more haunted schools in the future.

Final accusation: From the ghost principal:

“Player ‘Family’ used illegal means to cheat during the physical fitness test, resulting in the destruction of the entire school. Requesting the system to administer justice.”

At that, Bai Wan couldn’t help feeling a little indignant.

Okay sure, the school did get blown up…But I nearly died too! I’m a victim here!

The system, however, completely ignored him and silently dropped his score to –S.

Alright, another negative rating.

Bai Wan was thoroughly drained. He’d completed three dungeons so far, and already earned two negative ratings. He honestly had no idea why.

Thankfully, the rewards were still pretty generous:

[Player “Family” achieved perfect score in the physical exam.]

 Rewards:

Seeing the rewards, Bai Wan’s mood improved.

1,500 coins?! That was more than even an SSS rating reward.

At this point, maybe it didn’t matter if he kept getting negative ratings…

He turned his attention to the Parallel Mirror of Duplication, and when the system description popped up, he was delighted:

[Parallel Mirror of Duplication]

Category: Unique Relic

Effect: When aimed at a paranormal entity, the mirror can create a copy of the target into a world owned by the player.

Currently owned worlds:

 1. Painting World

 2. Mario’s Sewer

Note: The stronger the entity, the longer duplication takes. Weaker or “crashed” (incapacitated) entities have a higher replication success rate. Duplicated entities won’t harm the player and can be partially controlled in their respective worlds.

Bai Wan’s eyes lit up.

Hell yeah. This is a good one. No wonder it’s a unique relic.

With this, he could start copying paranormal entities into the Painting World. Originally, the Painting World only applied a movement-slowing debuff—but now, with the mirror, Bai Wan could turn it into a secret personal arsenal.

He could stuff it full of strong ghosts—and unleash them in times of crisis.

Take someone like Zhou Sen—no need to even summon Kirin. Just activate the Painting World and instant wipeout.

He remembered that Mario’s creation power also allowed him to modify the Painting World. If he combined the two, he could probably craft something truly spectacular.

The only limitation was the Painting World’s duration. It could only be used once per dungeon, and only for ten minutes. But even ten minutes was pretty long—long enough to kill a whole pile of Zhou Sens.

Aside from the usage limit, there was also the issue of duplicating strong paranormals. The paranormal had to be either weakened or in a crashed (incapacitated) state to be eligible.

Bai Wan immediately thought of Pokémon: you gotta weaken them first to catch ‘em. The stronger the paranormal, the harder to copy. Still, with his bug-filled loadout, grinding a ghost into a weakened state wasn’t hard.

He just felt a little regretful he hadn’t had this item during the Haunted Campus. After all, plenty of ghosts had been bugged or blasted into crash mode by his Ghostfire Peashooters.

But it didn’t matter. There would be more chances in the future.

Bai Wan was very pleased with this dungeon’s haul. He already had 2,800 Paranormal Coins, and with this new 1,500, his total had reached 4,800.

He was now officially loaded. All thanks to his character skills—skills that didn’t consume any coins.

Most players had weak character skills and relied on paranormal items to stay alive. But Bai Wan was different. His character skills were even stronger than most paranormal tools, which meant he didn’t need to constantly spend money just to survive.

Then the system issued another message:

[Based on your game performance, you’ve earned the titles “Manmade Flame Mountain” and “Nuker of the Haunted Campus.”]

Seeing that he’d gotten even more titles, Bai Wan started wondering…

Was Liu Tong lying to him about how rare titles were? He’d said only experts and veterans could earn rare titles—but every time Bai Wan showed up, he got a handful.

Are these things actually worthless? Plus, everyone who joined this dungeon also got titles. Maybe… maybe titles really weren’t as valuable as Liu Tong made them out to be.

Still curious, Bai Wan checked the two new titles he’d just earned.

The first one—Manmade Flame Mountain—caught his eye instantly.

His gaze gleamed.

Holy crap. Jackpot.

[Title: Manmade Flame Mountain]
