Chapter 377 The Weight of a Bond

Leslie’s POV

Finished

Carl chuckled and leaned close, his voice low. “Leiss fought it tooth and nail at first. He even sent rogues to raid Snow Pack, left them bleeding. When Kelly found out, she cut him off herself–shattered the bond, erased the mark. And now they’re back together? Who would’ve thought?”

I rolled my eyes, resin pheromone drifting sharp with ridicule.

Life really knew how to mock. Poor Kelly–she’d drawn the short straw.

Leiss and Kelly stood at the entrance receiving guests. Leiss beamed, his joy in for all to see, like he wanted to carve it on his forehead.

Kelly smiled faintly, her arm linked through his, the picture of a pretty couple.

But to me, the scene rang hollow–two yers in a staged tableau of happiness.

“Leslie, Carl, what an honor-” Leiss approached, grinning wider, hand extended to Carl.

Carl put on a mask of cheerful ignorance, sping his hand. “Congrattions. Truly a great day. You two look like a perfect match.”

Leiss basked in the ttery, grinning even more.

Kelly only lifted her gaze briefly, ncing at Carl without a word.

Her eyes swept to me; she offered a small nod and the faintest smile.

I returned the gesture politely, though inwardly I thought: Kelly doesn’t look thrilled to have repaired that bond. There might be a scer.

And then I felt it–the familiar surge of mint pheromone rolling over me from behind.

No surprise. Kirby.

Kirby’s POV

By the time I reached the hall, Carl and Leslie had already gone in.

I spotted her quickly–her back, straight and proud—just as Leiss and his mate moved to greet

them.

I strode forward, let my pheromone slip softer, more appealing, and pped Leiss on the shoulder. “Congrattions.”

And I meant it. Seeing him patch things with Kelly lit a flicker of hope in me.

The thought already swelled in my chest, bright and feverish.

But Leslie and Carl brushed past with barely a word, leaving me standing alone, a cold weight settling there instead.

Leiss clicked his tongue, smugness in his eyes. “Kirby, you’re moving too slow. Hitting a wall?”

His tone was all gloating, like he couldn’t wait to rub it in–that he’d managed to bring Kelly back in a month, while I was still breaking myself against Leslie.

I shot him a cold look, pheromone edged with warning. If it weren’t his big day, I’d have shut him up with my fists.

Kelly smiled gently and stepped in. “You two chat, I’ll go see to the guests.”

Leiss nodded, tender, patting her hand. “Don’t overdo it. Rest if you’re tired.”

She smiled again and slipped inside.

His eyes clung to her retreating back like glue.

I frowned, muttering, “You can’t watch her at home?”

Heughed loud. “Kirby, maybe you should just change mates.”

My gaze iced over. “Why don’t you?”

Change? Ridiculous. Leslie was mine. No one could rece her.

Leiss grinned wider. “Mine’s easy. Offer her enough, and shees running. But Leslie–give her the whole Crimson Moon Pack, and she still won’t look at you.”

Silence closed in, stone–heavy on my chestb. /b

My face hardened further. Because the truth was brutal—nothing Iid at her feet would ever be enough.
