“Burn those who burned me!”

bChapter /b14

i“/iHow the ihell /iishould /iiI /iknowi!/i”

“iWell/ii, /iithis /iiisn’t /iigood/ii, /iiif /iiyou /iiget /iia /iidivorce /iyour igrandmother /iis igoing /iito /iigive /iithe /iipany /iito /iiyour /icousin Tyler.”

I gritted my teeth hard. Tyler was my cousin, both he and I were the same age. However, because my father was the CEO before he passed, my grandmother decided to pass it on to me under the condition I marry Rabena. Dammit! That woman is about to ruin everything!

On Monday, I headed into the office. I needed to find Rabena quick and get her under control but first I needed to contest these divorce papers. Pulling out my work phone, I called my assistant.

i“/iiAndrew/ii, /iI ineed /iiyou /ito itrace /iiback /iithe /iist /iisteps /iof imy /iiwife /iifrom /iiMonday /iiApril /ii5th/ii. /iiHer /iist /iiknown /iiwhereabouts /iiwas /iiMemorial /iiHope /iiHospital/i. iAlso /iitrack /iithe /iiwhereabouts /iof iher /iibrother /iiDamon/i.i” /i

Andrew sat in silence for a moment before responding.

“Um, idid /iisomething /iihappened /iisir/ii? /iiWhy /iiis /iMs. iRabena /iimiss-/i”

“iStop /iiasking /ime iquestions /iiand /iido /iias /iI isay/ii!/ii” /i

I barked with irritation at my assistant, I didn’t have time for a game of questions. As I turned on myputer, my cell began to ring, from an unknown number.

“iThis /iiis /iiLockwood/ii./ii” /i

“Mr. iLockwood/ii, /iivery /iinice /ito ispeak /iiwith /iiyou/ii. /iiI’m /iiPera /iiTremell/ii, /iiMs. /iiRabena’s /iiwyer/ii./ii” /ifn4454 ?? ??? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???????s, ????s? ??s?? FindN()vel/fn4454

I could feel my chest start cave; she already has awyer! Irritated, I tried to maintain my cool.

“What ican /iI do for iyou /iiMs. /iiTremell/ii./ii” /i

Pera took a quick pause before speaking.

“I trust iyou /ireceived iyour /iipapers/i, correcti? /iRegarding the idivorce/i, my client would like to know when you will be signing and submitting.”

I felt like I was eating crushed ss. Her client. When the hell did Rabena obtain counsel and with what money! I had gone out my way to keep her on a short financial leash and the Crests didn’t provide her with any money. What was going on?

i“/iiI /idid receive the ipapers/i, though iI’m /iafraid there’s ibeen /isome sort of misunderstanding. You see, iI /iihave /ino intentions of divorcing imy /iwife.i” /i

I could hear a faint sound ofughter from this Pera person before she responded.

i“/iMr. Lockwood, I ithink /iit iwould /ibe in iyour /ibest interest iif /iiyou /iijust /isigned ithe /ipapers.”

“Who ithe /iihell /iido /iyou ithink /iyou iare/i! Do you iknow /iwho iyou’re /idealing iwith/ii! /iiI /iwon’t isign /iishit/i! So, iif /iishe’s /iidoing /iithis /iibecause /iishe /iithinks /iishe /ican get money-”

i“/iiActually/ii, /iimy /iiclient /iiis /iwilling to iwalk /iiaway /iwithout anything. iNo /imoney, no propertyi, /iinothing/i. iJust /iia /idivorce.b” /b

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Nothing? She wanted nothing. Did Rabena want to divorce me that bad?

i“/iiMr. /iLockwoodi, /iiare /iyou still iwith /ime?”

“Yi–/iiYes/i. iI’m /iistill /iihere/ii. /iiThe /iianswer /iiis /istill ino/ii./i”

i“/iiI /iwould ireally /iireconsider /iiif /iiI /iiwere /iiyou/i.”

My patience was running thin.

i“/iiI /iidon’t /iigive /iia /iishit /iiwhat /iiyou /iithink/ii! /iTell my wife‘ iI /iiwill /inot ibe /iidivorcing /iiher/ii./ii” /i

Silence.

“I really did not want to do this as I’d hope we could resolve this amicably.”

Suddenly, there was a beep on my phone. A text message came through. When I opened it, my eyes nearly jumped out their sockets. It was picture of me and Danielle kissing each other. Suddenly, all the color drained from my face.

“Where did you get this?”

I spoke in a low and defeated tone.

“That’s not important Mr. Lockwood. My client, informed me that your grandmother, the chairwoman of Lockwood Corp would be most unpleased if she saw this photo. Now she’s willing to take full responsibility for the divorce as to not affect your chances of bing CEO. Please, sign the papers.”

With that she hung up the phoneb, /bas I sat in my office looking like aplete fool.
