CHAPTER 19: NEW METHOD

"But don’t worry too much. Back in the sect, there are all sorts of methods - even those for assassins. With my authority, I’m sure I can get a genuine concealment method for you," she said.

"That’s the thing - I can’t enter the sect like this," Yu Tian thought.

[100%]

He sighed. "Let me see the one you have," he said.

"Umm... okay," she said, reaching into her pouch and retrieving a manual.

Yu Tian placed the manual down.

"Do you have a pen and paper?" he asked.

"Yeah. Do you want to copy the manual? Don’t bother, just keep it," she said.

Yu Tian just smiled. Seeing this expression, her look transformed to that of shock. "You... you’re not thinking of..." she didn’t even dare to say it.

"That’s right, I’ll develop a new method," Yu Tian said. "Concealment for qi and body should be relatively similar. As long as I have a reference point, I should be able to create something," he explained.

Xueling thought to herself that creating manuals wasn’t that easy.

If the ancestors who had died getting these manuals for them heard this, they would probably rise from their graves in anger. There was no way someone could create another manual just by observing a manual, even if they were similar.

They either had to have high-level cultivation or divine-level enlightenment.

Looking at Yu Tian, well, it definitely wasn’t the first option.

Then, could he really have divine-level enlightenment?

She remembered how he had read the pill refining manual and succeeded in making an eighth-grade pill on his first try. She remembered his battle instinct - he had even unlocked the mind realm.

When she thought about it, what else could explain this but divine-level enlightenment?

She reached into her bag and retrieved a pen and a few stacks of paper, giving them to Yu Tian.

She then sat next to him.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"I want to see how you create a technique. I’ll keep watch with my spiritual sense, so no need to worry," she said.

"Well, alright," he said.

Yu Tian began reading through the manual. He wasn’t practicing it, just reading it for now.

This was quite easy to do since the manual wasn’t that big. Well, it was, but for someone like him who had entered the mind realm, it was quite easy to go through.

After he had understood how the manual worked, he began going through it again from page one. This time however, he was using his Path to Heaven method to go through it.

He then held his pen and began writing onto the stacks of paper.

Xueling paid attention when she saw him finally start writing. She really was witnessing the birth of a new method. But as she read what he was writing, she was confused. Although it looked different, it seemed to still be the same method in essence.

But she didn’t disturb him and let him continue until he was finally done.

"Why is the method you’ve created so similar to the original? Even though it seems different on the surface, it’s still the same method underneath," she said.

He raised the stacks of paper he had been writing on and then the original manual. "What do you think?" he asked.

Her mouth widened. She finally realized what he had been doing.

...

"Crazy" was the only word she could muster. The original manual was about two hundred pages, yet what Yu Tian had made was just thirty pages. Yet when she read it, it was still the same technique and she didn’t feel it had lost its essence.

"When reading, I noticed that the technique was filled with so many words that didn’t actually mean anything, so I decided to cut them short. This version should be much easier to work with," he said.

She looked at him as if he were a ghost. He really dared to say that. How would the original creators feel if they heard this? Then again, when she thought about it, techniques had always felt quite complicated. She had always assumed this had to be the case, but looking at Yu Tian’s version, it was quite easy to understand. It seemed that all those hundreds of pages were just fluff - one just needed the core essence and they could grasp the method.

Even so, it was hard to find someone who could extract the core essence and express it so well. This was something that even the original creators of the methods were unable to do.

"Now we can get started," Yu Tian said, handing her back the original manual.

She stored it and paid attention to what he was doing. Yu Tian thought to himself that he had used the Path to Heaven method to analyze the most important aspect of the technique and pulled it out without sacrificing the quality.

Now that he had done that, the method was much more understandable and easy to work with.

He thought to himself that this was really unexpected. From what he could see, as technique complexity went up, the harder it was to express it and understand it. This was why people needed high levels of enlightenment. But for someone like him with his calculation ability, he could easily grasp the core essence of the technique without having to decipher all those complex explanations.

Picking up another stack of papers, Yu Tian began writing. Xueling’s eyes widened as she saw this. This time, it was different than before - he really was making a new method.

Yu Tian thought to himself that the original method worked through controlling qi emission to ensure that people couldn’t detect one’s qi realm. It could also be used in a certain way to imitate a certain qi realm.

After completely understanding how it worked, Yu Tian began rewriting it whilst adding a way for concealing presence. This one was much easier as it was all about moving your qi in a way that imitated the surrounding, canceling out your own presence.

After finishing this, he got another stack of papers.

"Are you creating another method?" she asked.

"No, that was just the draft. Now it’s time to refine it," Yu Tian said.

He thought to himself that he had written this one by himself and it probably had many problems. Now was the time to use the Path to Heaven and perfect the method. This time it was much easier as it was just doing a few calculations and adjusting some variables.

In just a few minutes, he was done.
