Calculating My Way To Immortality
Chapter 39: Spiritual Sense
CHAPTER 39: SPIRITUAL SENSE
The third poison was made more like traditional poison in that although made of qi, it didn’t target the qi at all. Rather, it targeted the body.
This poison was for killing. When it entered the body, it would go through it, destroying and disabling important bodily functions until it killed the opponent or was expelled.
But since it didn’t target qi, it was also the weakest despite being the deadliest. But when used in conjunction with the rest, no one could stand a chance.
His strategy at the moment was to first use the perception-based poison, disabling the opponent’s perception. Next would be the qi paralysis, disabling their qi and leaving them vulnerable.
With no access to qi and the perception needed to detect the final poison, they would just be sheep waiting to be slaughtered. The poison would go through them and they would have no way to stop it.
He predicted that this strategy, combined with his Path to Heaven method, should have a fairly good chance of working against an early Foundation Establishment cultivator. As for middle stage and above, he wasn’t so sure.
The problem was that his qi was simply too little, so the second step wouldn’t work against stronger cultivators. They would simply use their overwhelming qi to destroy his poison qi.
Even so, the way he had made the poisons, he was sure this wouldn’t be easy. If they destroyed his poison, the chances of it affecting them the next time increased as they expended qi to do this, making them exhausted.
In the end, it all came down to who got tired first.
Another thing he had done with his poison was that he had used some aspects from the previous concealment method. He really liked the concealment method. He had even improved it slightly, adding some insights he had found when studying the other techniques as well as making this one.
With the aspects of concealment in the technique, the Thousand Poisons Method would appear like any regular qi infusion method when he infused it into his sword. It would also be harder to detect when inside someone’s body. Not to mention if he used the perception method first.
Unless someone was overwhelmingly stronger than him, they would have a hard time beating this.
Yu Tian felt satisfied with what he had made and rose from his position.
"Are you leaving already?" Xueling asked, stopping her swings.
She had been at it for five hours now and still seemed full of strength.
"Yes, continue your practice," Yu Tian said and left towards the main house.
She watched him leave. Only when he entered the house did she return to her practice.
She looked at her sword, thinking to herself that although it was only a short time and he was only half paying attention, his instructions had allowed her to progress greatly with the technique.
He easily saw through all the problems with her form, even the tiniest ones that could be attributed to bad habits. He could point it all out and tell her how to improve and avoid such mistakes in the future.
She needed to work much harder so as not to disappoint him, she thought to herself, beginning to swing her sword even harder.
...
In Yu Tian’s mind realm, he saw the speck of light from before begin growing at a rapid rate.
In just a few seconds, it was already over a meter in radius. He then felt a calming sensation envelop his mind for a moment, feeling as though a whole new world was unraveling before him.
In that single moment, the light exploded, covering an area about ten meters in radius.
Yu Tian looked at the area around him. It looked like just a patch of land. He wondered if this was the spiritual sea.
[100%]
He looked around, thinking to himself that it was more of a spiritual land than sea. Maybe the actual sea forms as the mind realm increases.
[95%]
He looked at himself. He looked somewhat translucent and didn’t have any clothes. Well, this was his consciousness, so it didn’t really matter if he was naked. Even so, not being naked would be good. Since this was his spiritual sea, he imagined having clothes and suddenly, he did.
"I just felt it might work and it really did."
He looked at the area he had. He tried imagining it being a sea, but nothing happened. He imagined it expanding, but it failed too.
"Figured it’d be like that."
He closed his eyes and traced a sensation that he’d been feeling in his mind for quite a while now. This sensation was like the feeling of having a new organ. As he focused on the sensation, he suddenly felt his awareness expand, covering the ten meter patch of land.
"This is...spiritual sense," he spoke in excitement.
[100%]
Finally, he could use this. With this, he should be able to more easily study the flow of qi in himself and others. This would help him gather information for upgrading his techniques.
"But isn’t this a little small?" he thought, looking at the area around him. The size of the spiritual sense was directly proportional to the size of the spiritual sea. Meaning at the moment, his spiritual sense worked on just a ten meter radius. This was too small.
He sighed. Well, he had just entered the second level of the mind realm, so he shouldn’t expect instant success. As time went on, he should be able to increase this range.
"Yu Tian, I’m back," he heard Xueling’s voice and his eyes fluttered open in the real world.
When she saw him open his eyes, she quickly brought out something from her spatial bag. "Look what I brought for you," she said.
Yu Tian reached out and grabbed one of the items. They were all blue crystal-like objects.
"Spirit stones?" he asked in surprise.
"That’s right. This is all I’ve saved up since I started cultivating. I was planning to use them to breakthrough to the Core Formation realm if I didn’t find the Starfall Blossom. What do you think?" she asked. "With these, you should be able to increase your cultivation greatly, right?" she asked.
"Is something big about to happen?" he asked.
"Ah, how did you know?" she asked in surprise.
"Using spirit stones to cultivate, while not uncommon, is considered quite wasteful. Many people generally save them for major breakthroughs," he began. "For you to bring out all your spirit stones for me to cultivate, it must mean that something big is going to happen soon and you want me to be stronger by then," he said.
She looked directly at him. "You’re right. I didn’t want to waste them like this. I wanted to continue saving them so you could use them for your core formation breakthrough later, as we might not be able to find another Starfall Blossom. But I just received some information. In a week, the..."
