Calculating My Way To Immortality
Chapter 58: True Self
CHAPTER 58: TRUE SELF
Yu Tian and Xueling sat across from each other.
"What are you doing?" Xueling asked nervously, glancing at Yu Tian who was holding her hand and focusing his gaze on her.
"Why did you turn back?" Yu Tian asked.
"You mean the transformation?" she asked. "It costs too much energy to maintain. Now that I don’t have energy, it wore off."
Yu Tian thought to himself that this was the same as before. When they entered the secret tombs, she had reverted back to this state. He felt that this was strange - after all, a saint body wasn’t some sort of technique.
"You might be thinking of it in the wrong way," he said. "Can you try ’transforming’ following my guidance?"
"Alright," she responded.
She closed her eyes and followed his guidance. She felt her qi slowly transforming, becoming more and more aligned with yin energy. As this happened, her appearance began changing. Her eyes turned silver and her hair became white, just like before.
Ice then began spreading around them.
She opened her eyes and looked at her hands. "How is this possible?" she wondered.
She didn’t feel her energy being drained at all.
"It’s just as I thought," Yu Tian said.
"What?" she asked in confusion.
"You are treating your body like a transformation technique," Yu Tian explained.
"Is it not?" she asked.
"Of course not. It’s a physique you have, so why would it be a transformation technique? Your body should be like this intrinsically," he explained. "When you spend energy, it means you’re using it wrongly. You should let the body come out naturally and not restrict it."
She looked at herself. It’s true - she was restricting the body. She had grown up always thinking it was a curse, so when she used it, she was much more reserved.
"The energy you spend is to preserve yourself," Yu Tian said. "But if you let go and accept this as your new self, you will be able to use it much more efficiently."
"I see," she thought. She looked at her appearance. She was a cultivator, so she didn’t really care much about her looks. Since this was her path, she decided not to hesitate and take it.
"What do I need to do?"
Yu Tian smiled. "I’ve shown you the correct way to bring it out. Now you just need to let go and set it as your new self."
She listened to his advice and let go of her control over her spiritual energy. The moment she did this, her energy began moving on its own, circulating in a strange pattern as her body was being restructured.
Yu Tian held her hands. Before, when he saw this form, he had assumed it would be great for training his water element, which was yin-related. But when he saw her revert back, he felt it was a waste.
Now, with her pure yin body complete, he would always have some benefits as he trained with her - especially after he entered the Core Formation realm and formed a core. When the core was formed, he wouldn’t have to cultivate an element at a time, meaning he could just absorb her yin energy and progress greatly.
About an hour later, Xueling’s transformation was done and she slowly opened her eyes.
...
"How are you feeling?" he asked.
"Much better," she said, looking at herself. "It feels as though my whole body is full of energy."
"Your body is a pure yin type, so I found it strange you spent energy to use it when it’s supposed to be providing energy to you."
Xueling looked at herself. She removed the bandages wrapped around her and saw that her injuries had almost healed. She glanced at Yu Tian, who just smiled at her.
He was really great as always.
Even those once-in-a-generation geniuses must have trouble controlling their own saint bodies, yet he saw through hers so easily and helped her make it her own power instead of being subject to it.
"Thank you," she said.
"It’s no problem at all. You being strong is good for me too," he said.
"Now that you’re done, let’s practice."
She nodded and the two pressed their hands together, beginning their practice.
Yu Tian thought to himself that today was a big success. He not only broke through to the Foundation realm, but he also absorbed the excess yin energy from Xueling and upgraded his water element to the third layer.
He could’ve gone higher, but her yin energy was too concentrated - it was hard to break it down into the water element.
It was more related to the mutated ice element. Too bad he didn’t have it. Because of this, he had to dispel most of the energy that he couldn’t deconstruct in time before it became poisonous.
The two continued practicing throughout the night.
The next morning, they both opened their eyes, stopping their cultivation.
Yu Tian was quite pleased with the day’s practice. Although the yin energy hadn’t been as concentrated as during the transformation before, he was still able to absorb it over time and bring his water element to the fifth layer. Though he felt that it would be much harder to level up from now on.
As for the other elements, he managed to bring them to the second layer of Foundation Establishment using the remaining spirit stones. Now he was all out and would need a long time to continue breaking through.
Although his progress was quite nice, he couldn’t help but feel that he was a little lacking. He scratched his head. Well, it’s nothing he couldn’t solve by increasing his mind realm.
Yu Tian looked around. Traces of ice were everywhere in the tent. Xueling also joined him in looking around. She let out a soft sigh - leaking of yin energy was inevitable given her body.
She glanced at Yu Tian.
"The excess yin qi is really useful to you, right?" she asked.
"That’s right. It helps me with training my water element," he explained.
"Then I have an even better way for you to absorb it and even solve the issue with yin qi leakage that could lead to problems," she said.
"Ho... you do?" Yu Tian’s interest was piqued.
Xueling blushed. "That’s right, it’s dual cultivation..."
