Calculating My Way To Immortality
Chapter 61: True Brothers
CHAPTER 61: TRUE BROTHERS
"I’m assuming the other sects won’t happily agree to hand over the Drifting Cloud Sect to one sect, right?" Yu Tian asked.
The Drifting Cloud Sect occupied this region with four other sects: the Crimson Leaf Sect, Silver Moon Sect, Iron Ridge Sect, and the Pure Spirit Sect. All these sects were eighth-grade sects just like the Drifting Cloud Sect, which is why they could get along.
Well, at least pretend to.
"That’s right, the three sects have already gathered at the Drifting Cloud Sect, each refusing to budge," she said.
"Three? What about the other one?" Xueling asked.
"Apparently, the Silver Moon Sect has decided to stay out of it," the girl explained.
Xueling looked at Yu Tian and he nodded.
"Alright, just continue business as usual and wait for my commands," Xueling said, getting up. Yu Tian also got up.
"I’ll listen to the master," the girl said with a bow, and Xueling and Yu Tian flew away.
As they flew, Xueling asked, "Isn’t it suspicious?"
"Indeed," Yu Tian said.
He thought to himself that they were all eighth-grade sects - there was no way they wouldn’t be interested in the Drifting Cloud Sect. Although the Silver Moon Sect was run by a woman, in the jianghu, this didn’t mean anything, so it made no sense that she was afraid of the other sects.
If anything, this would just show to the other sects that she was an easy target.
Yu Tian felt that there must be a scheme involved.
[100%]
He smiled. "Thought so."
There was no way they would let this chance go so easily. Even if they didn’t want the Drifting Cloud Sect for themselves, they wouldn’t let the other sects get it that easily, as if a sect was to grow stronger than the others, then the balance that had been maintained for years would fall apart.
Now the only problem was figuring out what type of scheme it was.
His eyes then brightened as he realized something.
"That’s it," he said.
"Did you realize something?" Xueling asked.
"Yeah, but it might not be that big of a problem for us. In fact, it might even be good for us," he said with a smile.
"Really? What is it?" she asked.
"The Silver Moon Sect is attempting to take over the other sects while their main forces are away," he explained.
Xueling’s eyes widened. "That is indeed a clever scheme. Why fight over the single Drifting Cloud Sect when you could take over three whole sects?" she said.
"But why do you think this is good for us? Wouldn’t it be dangerous if they have such a big force?" she asked.
"Although the idea looks good on the surface, it’s actually not all that great," Yu Tian said.
"It’s not?" Xueling asked.
"That’s right. Why are they able to take over three sects?" Yu Tian asked.
"Because the main forces are..." she paused, her eyes widening in realization.
"That’s right, because the main forces are away. Meaning whatever they take over is just the buildings and some minor disciples. Although they might also take the treasury, it won’t be useful instantly.
When the other forces come back, they will be angry at the Silver Moon Sect and target them all together with their main forces," Yu Tian explained. "And since when they return, one force would’ve won the Drifting Cloud Sect, the losing sects would also want something to bridge the gap, so the Silver Moon Sect would just be giving itself up," he said.
"In the end, the remaining two sects might even join forces and take over the Silver Moon Sect as one in order not to lose to the sect that takes over the Drifting Cloud Sect," he said.
"Wow, you’ve thought really far ahead," she said.
"Now this is where we come in. If we can get rid of the forces gathered in our sect, we won’t have to go to each of their sects to get our compensation..." Yu Tian said.
Xueling smiled. "We can just get it from the Silver Moon Sect."
...
"What is the meaning of this? Are you trying to get in my Pure Spirit Sect’s way?" Sect Master Wei Qingshan shouted at the other two parties who stood opposite him.
"What Pure Spirit Sect’s way? This is clearly my brother Su Qing’s Drifting Cloud Sect. What’s wrong with my Iron Ridge Sect taking over my brother’s place?" Zhang Tianfeng said.
Qingshan gritted his teeth at this. "What brothers? Wasn’t it you that wanted him dead just a few days ago? Saying that you are mortal enemies," he retorted.
"You clearly don’t know of our relationship," Tianfeng didn’t back down.
"Then are the rumors that he slept with your wife true?" Qingshan asked.
The others around began laughing. This was a well-known rumor in the region. Su Qing had slept with Tianfeng’s wife, making them mortal enemies.
Qingshan looked at Tianfeng’s angry expression with a pleased expression.
"Yes, it’s true," Tianfeng said, causing everyone to exclaim in shock. He didn’t deny it?
Qingshan smiled. "Then you aren’t broth..." but before he could finish, Tianfeng continued, "The truth is, I let him..." he said, his cheeks flushing.
"What!" everyone exclaimed.
"We are true brothers who share everything, even our wives," Tianfeng said.
Qingshan looked at him, his lip twitching. "Is it really worth going this far?" he wondered.
"Now now, everyone, let’s all calm down," Chen Wuyang of the Crimson Leaf Sect said.
Tianfeng and Qingshan looked at each other with angry expressions before deciding to look away, each scoffing. Chen Wuyang was the eldest of them, so they respected him.
"Old Wuyang, although we’ve had dealings before, don’t think I will let you have this," Qingshan said with a serious expression.
"Old Wuyang, I hope you don’t take it to heart too if I refuse to hand over my brother’s sect," Tianfeng said.
Wuyang just laughed it off. "The younger generation is really lively," he said.
He then looked at the other two. He also really wanted the Drifting Cloud Sect’s treasury. Actually, although he was known as the eldest of the group, it was actually just in appearance. The true eldest was Su Qing, but he always looked so young and vibrant. Wuyang wanted to know his secret as he was nearing the end of his lifespan.
He sighed. "How about this, why don’t we each appoint a representative? The representatives can then fight, and the winner gets to keep the Drifting Cloud Sect and its territory," Wuyang suggested.
The others looked at each other. It would indeed be bad if the sect masters fought all out. Selecting representatives was much better.
"I’ll do as old Wuyang says," Qingshan said.
"Fine by me," Tianfeng said dismissively.
"Ho... and what do we have here," Xueling said, appearing above the group.
