CHAPTER 8: MIND REALM [PART 2]

"The mind realm isn’t really a realm per se. Rather, it’s a different cultivation path that focuses specifically on the mind," she explained.

"When you enter the Core Formation realm, you unlock the spiritual sense, which is a superior version of the qi sense used by Qi Gathering and Foundation Establishment cultivators," she said.

"What does this have to do with the mind realm?" Yu Tian asked.

"To use the spiritual sense, you need to unlock the mind realm," she explained. "Specifically, the second level of the mind," she said as grains of sand started lifting from the ground.

"This is..." Yu Tian showed a shocked expression.

Su Xueling smiled. "Hehe, are you that impressed by my power? Hmph, if I was at my full power, I could lift someone like you effortlessly," she thought smugly.

"Telekinesis? Isn’t that the power of a Core Formation powerhouse?" Yu Tian asked.

"Not entirely," she said. "The actual power of lifting things with your mind is an ability of the level two mind. It’s just that most who’ve done this are in the Core Formation realm," she explained.

Yu Tian nodded. He thought to himself that this was really interesting. He wouldn’t have understood what had happened to him without her telling him. He remembered how his mind had suddenly snapped and he began feeling extremely clear. He even felt as though he was thinking faster than usual, so he had entered the mind realm.

As he thought of this, he paused. How did she know all this? Even though she was the daughter of the sect master, she wasn’t that well-liked and was just a Qi Gathering cultivator. Not even the daughter of the sect master could bypass the sect rules and receive higher-level manuals. She was definitely suspicious.

He wondered if she was really a Qi Gathering cultivator. [0%] the number showed. No wonder he’d been feeling uneasy before. He had thought it was because he had joined her faction that he felt uneasy, but to think that she was hiding something so huge.

He wondered if she was a Core Formation cultivator. The number showed zero percent. He relaxed a bit.

He wondered if she was a peak Foundation Establishment cultivator. The number showed a hundred percent. This lady really knew how to hide. Everyone in the sect was probably being fooled by her.

He suddenly thought of something. Wait, could it be... He wondered if the first son’s faction had sent a Core Formation elder to get rid of her when she left the sect and had failed because she had peak Foundation strength and a trump card, fighting off the elder. The number shifted and showed eighty percent.

He asked what were the chances that that elder was still alive. The numbers shifted and showed zero percent. He was relieved to hear this, but then he began panicking again. He had thought that maybe the existence of this elder was why his chances of leaving the forest with her were so low, but if the elder wasn’t alive, then why were the chances so low?

He wondered if the first son’s faction was going to send even more people to finish the job. The numbers shifted and settled at two percent. He thought to himself that was quite low.

After some thought, he came up with a plausible theory. Su Xueling had probably come here with the aim of breaking through to the Core Formation realm. As he thought of this, the number shifted to ninety-five percent.

I don’t like where this is going, he thought. Did she want to breakthrough using the Starfall Blossom? he asked. The number showed a hundred percent.

He thought to himself it was a good thing he hadn’t mentioned using the Starfall Blossom. Well, if he had the chance, he might look for another one for her later. Having a Core Formation powerhouse wasn’t bad.

The rest of his theory was what he had already calculated before. Seeing the opportunity to eliminate the competition, the first son’s faction had sent an elder to get rid of her when she was outside the sect.

Now that they had failed, they were probably going to set up an ambush on the way back to the sect, he thought, and the calculation showed a hundred percent chance.

He sighed. He had really gotten himself into a really complicated issue.

Xueling observed him, wondering what was up with him. Was he really that impressed with her power?

As she thought of this, he suddenly got up and picked her up. "Hey... what are you doing all of a sudden?" she asked.

"I’m taking you back to the cave. I need to go out for a while," he said.

"Go out? You want to look for dinner?" she asked as he carried her back.

"That too," he said. He thought to himself that that single boar was nothing for the two of them who were cultivators. Especially for him - after forming the inner core, it seemed he needed lots of energy.

He was already getting hungry.

"I want to look for healing herbs. I don’t think we’ll be able to leave the forest with you like this," he said.

Hearing this, she nodded. "I see," she said as he put her down. She thought to herself that at the moment, she was a burden.

"Take this," she said, retrieving something from her spatial pouch. "It’s a mind cultivation method. It’ll help you cultivate your mind. Take it as thanks for taking care of me," she said.

Yu Tian looked at it. He thought to himself it must be quite valuable. He took the manual and bowed. "Thank you," he said.

"I said it’s thanks for taking care of me. Just take it. Why do you have to make it awkward?" she said, turning to her side, facing the wall.

Yu Tian smiled. "Alright, then I won’t be polite," he said. He then began walking away. "I’ll be off then," he said.

As he reached the entrance, Su Xueling turned around. "Yu Tian," she called out nervously.

Yu Tian smiled. "It’s okay. I’ll definitely return," he reassured her before leaping from the entrance.

"Stupid, I wasn’t afraid you wouldn’t return. Just wanted to tell you to take care," she thought to herself.
