Alice’s attention was completely focused on the experiment.
She was completely oblivious to Haru’s large hand, which was caressing her stomach through her maid’s dress. Her face was a mask of concentration as she infused her magical power into the potion, meticulously conducting the experiment.
Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!
As Alice worked, the potion, which was combining in the container, sizzled, and then a cloud of purple smoke rose.
"It failed. Where did I go wrong?" A flicker of pain crossed her dark eyes. Alice stared blankly at the potion in the container. She had no idea where she had gone wrong in the previous steps.
The next moment, a new set of ingredients appeared in Alice’s line of sight. Haru’s voice sounded softly in her delicate, small ears.
"Continue the experiment. Let’s see where you went wrong."
Alice turned her head slightly, her gaze fixed on the smiling Haru behind her. Her eyes flickered with hesitation.
"Don’t forget my magic. I don’t mind you using the materials," Haru whispered in Alice’s ear.
A hint of shyness flashed in her black, pearl-like eyes. Alice turned her head back and, her cheeks slightly flushed, continued the experiment.
Any magical experiment normally required a large amount of magical materials. And in the magical world, all sorts of magical materials with mysterious effects were exceptionally expensive. If converted into money, the basic unit would be in the tens of thousands.
Just think of gem magic—and you’ll understand how massive the cost of magical experiments is.
Even though Alice was the young lady of a financial conglomerate, she wasn’t the head of the conglomerate. Her living expenses were limited.
By the end of each month, she and Aoko Aozaki were inevitably in a financial crisis.
In the end, because she was poor, Alice hadn’t done many proper experiments, so her potion failure rate was always high.
In just a dozen minutes, she had used up hundreds of sets of ingredients. Converted into money, it was probably enough to buy a property in New York.
But now, a big spender was continuously supporting her. The reclusive witch began to indulge in the pleasure of spending money like water—
Haru nuzzled Alice’s springy cheek, looking at the witch, who was now completely acquiescent to his actions, and a smirk played on his lips.
From Touko Aozaki’s earlier offer to sell her body for magical materials, Haru had figured out the best shortcut to wooing a female magus.
That is, to smash them with magical materials (money)!!
His Law of Matter had the means to create from nothing. So, he would create a large amount of materials, twist Alice’s sense of value, and tie her to his side for life, never to change.
So far, the progress was good.
Thwack—!!
The barrier suddenly rippled, but after automatically sensing the aura of the newcomer, it calmed down.
"Alice, are you in this room!!!" With a loud bang, Aoko Aozaki’s brash voice entered the study.
"I am!" Alice replied instinctively.
Aoko, who was in the middle of a powerful kicking motion at the door, stared blankly at the two, who were sitting on the chair, pressed tightly together, their cheeks touching.
The posture was exactly like the foreplay before the main event in the movies.
"Sorry to interrupt," Aoko said, dazed for a long moment. She bowed honestly and, uncharacteristically, gently closed the door.
————
"We’ve been misunderstood." A drunken crimson blush suddenly spread across Alice’s entire body. The witch lowered her head, flustered, trying to get up, but was held in place by Haru’s arms around her waist.
"No, there’s no misunderstanding," Haru said, gently nibbling on her small, delicate ear, a wicked grin on his face.
Alice lowered her head, falling silent.
A few minutes later, she gently patted the back of Haru’s hand and, feigning composure, said, "Aoko is so anxious, something must have happened. Let me go out for a moment."
"...I don’t think you need to go out," Haru said, pointing to the door, his tone strange.
Alice followed his finger and looked at the study door.
In the small crack of the door, Aoko’s azure eyes were faintly visible.
————
"..." Alice stared blankly at the teasing and mocking azure eyes in the crack of the door.
Seeing the peeping Aoko, Haru shrugged. To be seen by Aoko hugging Alice was no big deal to him.
But to the Witch, to be seen by her best friend in such a situation was an exceptionally shameful scene. Especially the unshakeable teasing and mockery in Aoko’s azure eyes, which only added fuel to the fire.
Ting!!!
The next moment, Alice, her expression impassive, reached into the pocket of her maid’s dress and took out a magical tool, the size of a young woman’s half-palm, shaped like a small violin.
"Eek!!!" Aoko, peeping at the door, her pupils constricted. She knew what that tool was. It was a one-time-use fairy tale familiar called Banquet of the Night, the foundation of Alice’s Fairy Tale Magic.
Thud—!
Aoko quickly closed the door and, using her hands and feet, fled the mansion.
The moment she saw Alice take out the familiar, Banquet of the Night, she knew the young woman was clearly angry and intended to ’silence’ her.
Was she supposed to stay and take a beating?
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Hurried footsteps echoed through the hallway. In just a dozen seconds, Aoko reached the mansion’s main gate. The violent young woman, with the acceleration of a sprint, delivered a flying kick, directly kicking the door open.
"Huh?!" Aoko, in mid-air, stared blankly at Haru and Alice before her, frozen on the spot. Hadn’t she just reached the main gate? How did she get back here? The young woman in mid-air subconsciously forgot her situation.
Thwack—!
"Ow ow ow!" Aoko, her eyes welling with tears, rubbed her bruised buttocks, taking a few sharp breaths and yelping.
"Where do you think you’re running?" a voice, devoid of any emotion, reached her ears.
Looking at the black-and-white maid’s dress before her, and the black thermal stockings beneath the skirt, Aoko’s face instantly stiffened. She shakily lifted her head.
Her azure eyes reflected Alice’s exceptionally empty and impassive expression.
Aoko blinked and quickly raised her hand, like a primary school student raising their hand to answer a question, and said, in an endearingly dazed tone,
"Report, Teacher Alice, I have important news!!!"
Hearing the title of ’teacher,’ Alice’s dark, empty eyes regained a trace of focus. As Aoko’s magic teacher, to be called teacher was only natural.
