Chapter 1 If it hurts, don’t bear it
CHAPTER 1: CHAPTER 1 IF IT HURTS, DON’T BEAR IT
「Qingcheng First Hospital.」
Gu Anxi sat in the emergency room, expressionlessly watching her right hand being wrapped layer by layer with gauze. Only when the knot was finally tied did her brow furrow slightly.
Doctor Wen put down her hand and smiled gently. "Young lady, don’t endure the pain if it hurts."
"It doesn’t hurt." Gu Anxi flicked her hand lightly. "Thank you."
With that, she stood up and walked towards the exit.
Doctor Wen called out to her, "Come back tomorrow to change the dressing."
As his voice faded, she had already left the emergency room. Doctor Wen sighed.
So stubborn!
Outside, Gu Anxi walked to the elevators and waited, idly scrolling through her phone.
Her slender, fair fingers moved nimbly, but after a moment, she felt a dull ache in her finger bones.
She lifted her hand to examine it.
Just then, an elevator arrived, and the doors opened.
Inside stood two men and a woman. The man in the center was over 185 cm tall. He wore a simple white shirt and black trousers, with a white lab coat draped over them. His features were refined, and he exuded an aura as gentle and noble as jade. The man and woman flanking him appeared to be his secretary and special assistant.
The trio together radiated a powerful presence.
Gu Anxi walked in and took an extra glance at the man in the center.
As Gu Anxi was examining him, the man lowered his ice-blue eyes. "A minor fracture in the third phalanx of a finger on your right hand. Young lady, you should go get it re-examined."
His voice was slightly low and deep, like a fine cello, each note subtly tugging at the heartstrings.
Gu Anxi abruptly lifted her gaze, her pale, thin lips parting to utter a few words, "I’m not a kid!"
Bo Xichen chuckled softly.
Just then, the elevator reached their floor. The cello-like voice sounded again, "Young lady, you will go."
Gu Anxi narrowed her eyes slightly, like a cat preparing to pounce, but the three had already stepped out of the elevator.
The elevator doors closed once again.
In the corridor, Feng Mian, dressed in black, asked his master in confusion, "Dr. Bo, how could you tell she had a bone fracture?"
Bo Xichen’s ice-blue eyes darkened slightly, and he spoke slowly, "Number 85, who won the race on the Qingcheng-Hetian Circuit this morning, clearly had a minor fracture in the third joint of her hand when she hit the throttle."
He then sighed. "But she still won the championship!"
Feng Mian was astounded. That was Asia’s premier professional race! That girl couldn’t have been more than twenty! She had glossy, shoulder-length black hair, stood nearly 170 cm tall, and was slim. Beneath the flashy white school uniform of Qingcheng University, her legs were incredibly long, slender, and straight!
But that wasn’t the point. The crucial part was—
She was female!
With a fractured bone!
And she still won?!
Damn! A human impervious to pain!
After recovering from his shock, Feng Mian asked bluntly, "How did you know it was her? And why were you staring at her hand?"
Bo Xichen smiled. "Don’t you think her hand is a rare work of art?"
Feng Mian gave him a strange look. Bo Xichen: twenty-eight years old, the primary heir of the Bo Family—the foremost of The Four Great Families of the Northern City—and globally recognized as the top surgeon. He had never shown any interest in women. Countless young women in Beicheng vied for his attention, yet Young Master Bo had never spared them a glance. Could it be... that spring had finally arrived for him?
Just as Feng Mian was puzzling over this, Bo Xichen changed the subject. "Still no news from ’Infinity’?"
’Infinity’ was the chief operative of ’Dark’, elusive and untraceable, whom they had been trying to track down for the past six months.
The latest news on the black market was that ’Infinity’ was in Qingcheng.
Feng Mian immediately collected himself and bowed his head. "Not yet. I will intensify the search."
Bo Xichen smiled warmly. "If ’Infinity’ could be found so easily, they wouldn’t be ’Infinity’."
