CHAPTER 412: CHAPTER 413: XICHEN, IS THE KID JEALOUS?

「Beicheng, Bo family.」

Bo Nianyao was sitting behind his desk, practicing calligraphy with a writing brush.

Bo Xichen came in. "Father."

Bo Nianyao continued to write slowly, his voice calm. "I heard that C City has calmed down."

Bo Xichen nodded. "Yes."

Bo Nianyao chuckled. "That’s because they know we’ve also mastered the eco-liquid technology, and that we have ties to the WK Group."

At this moment, he finally understood why Zai Zai had sold a second-hand machine to the Jiang family; she had deliberately shown the Jiangs that she had a connection with WK.

Even if the Bo family, along with Zai Zai, could handle the virus outbreak in C City, what would be the toll in human lives and resources? How many would die?

Bo Nianyao looked up and smiled faintly. "Xichen, I have high hopes for Zai Zai. She has a big heart."

He resumed writing. "She may seem clever and impish on the surface, but her heart is softer than anyone else’s. This aligns with the Bo family’s principles. You’ve truly found a treasure."

Bo Xichen’s face flushed slightly, and he lowered his gaze. "Father!"

Bo Nianyao smiled. "I also heard that Zai Zai didn’t show Dr. Jiang any deference in Qingcheng. Xichen, could Zai Zai be jealous?"

"What’s wrong with being jealous?" As he was speaking, Madame Bo’s voice came from outside the door.

She entered, her face radiant with joy. "That’s exactly how it should be! I can’t stand that female doctor. Knowing full well that Xichen and Anxi are settled, she still tries to make her presence felt. She has absolutely no pride. And I heard about the C City incident too; she was aiding those evildoers. She completely lacks a sense of right and wrong."

Madame Bo sneered. "She can’t hold a candle to even a single strand of Zai Zai’s hair."

Bo Nianyao chuckled. "You’re absolutely right, my dear. But these are words for home only. We mustn’t praise our Zai Zai to the point of spoiling her in front of outsiders."

Madame Bo cast him a sidelong glance. "Do you take me for Tang Yuan?"

A meaningful look flickered in Bo Nianyao’s eyes before he turned to his son. "Isn’t Anxi due back soon?"

Bo Xichen smiled faintly. "She’ll be back the day after tomorrow."

Bo Nianyao set down his brush. "Speaking of which, now that you and Anxi are officially together, I haven’t yet paid a formal visit to Old Brother Gu. Why don’t we go visit him together?"

Bo Xichen had been thinking the same; he had come to discuss this very matter. He hadn’t expected his father to be thinking the same thing. He remained silent, which was his way of agreeing.

Bo Nianyao turned to give Madame Bo some instructions, then added, "Actually, there’s nothing crucial keeping them in Qingcheng. Doesn’t Anxi also have a villa there? Let her mother stay in it. As for Old Brother Gu... coming to Beicheng to recuperate would be just as well."

Madame Bo immediately smiled. "Xichen, your father is always so thoughtful."

Bo Xichen smiled. "Father has been influential in Beicheng for decades; of course he is."

Bo Nianyao laughed teasingly. "After spending so much time with Anxi, look at you, you’ve even learned how to flatter now."

Bo Xichen’s face burned.

Bo Nianyao spoke again. "It’s been a week since Zai Zai left home; I actually miss her a bit."

"Zai Zai is out there accomplishing great things," Madame Bo scoffed lightly. "Yet you, you old rascal, sit here enjoying your leisure at home and still have the cheek to say you miss her."

Bo Nianyao chuckled. "What, are you all allowed to miss her, but I’m not?"

Madame Bo pursed her lips, smiling, her face soon beaming with joy. "Alright, I’ll arrange all the necessary formalities and gifts. Xichen, you prepare the medical team."

She instructed him carefully, "Especially the emergency equipment; make sure nothing is overlooked."

Bo Xichen nodded. "I will."

With these arrangements made, three private jets from the Bo family flew to Qingcheng the next day. Bo Nianyao met Gu Yuntian for the first time. Gu Yuntian had always held Bo Xichen in high regard, and meeting Bo Nianyao and his wife now made him feel even more at ease.

When Bo Nianyao suggested they move to Beicheng, Gu Yuntian was surprised and a little uneasy, feeling it would be too much of an imposition. Wang Keru, however, was somewhat eager to go to Beicheng.

It wasn’t that she longed for a life of luxury. Rather, she wanted to be closer to Anxi. Anxi’s life in Beicheng wasn’t always easy, and having her family nearby would give her courage. Besides, Wang Keru particularly disliked Tang Yuan and worried she might bully Anxi.

Gu Anxi understood her mother’s feelings.

Now that her father was awake, she didn’t feel comfortable leaving them alone in Qingcheng. Besides, Grandma Chen was getting old and deserved to enjoy her later years. Though she never said it, she must deeply miss life in Beicheng! She’d heard Grandma Chen was in France, having a wonderful time with Aunt Gu Ning.

So Gu Anxi whispered, "It won’t be a bother, Father."

She continued in a low voice, "I have a house in Beicheng too. It’s right next to Si Garden, and Zhou Yunchen manages my company."

No one had told Gu Yuntian any of this yet.

Hearing it now, he felt a surge of pride.

Madame Bo, all smiles, said, "You probably don’t know, but Zai Zai not only owns a company that rakes in money, but she has also bought three large buildings in Beicheng, each valued at ten billion yuan or more. Additionally, the copyright for one of her comics alone is worth five hundred million yuan, and it’s going to be adapted into a movie, possibly premiering early next year..."

Madame Bo talked until her throat was dry, then took a sip of water. "In short, please don’t feel burdened at all. Zai Zai is incredibly capable."

After all this, Gu Yuntian was stunned.

Although he had always known his daughter was exceptional, he hadn’t imagined that Anxi had accomplished so much during the three years he was in a vegetative state.

As a father, he didn’t say much more, just gently stroked her hair. "You’re your father’s pride."

Gu Anxi made a soft, contented sound and leaned obediently against Gu Yuntian.

Wang Keru’s eyes quietly reddened, and she fought back tears...

The Bo family stayed in Qingcheng for one night. Bo Nianyao personally examined Gu Yuntian, and only after confirming he was fit for travel did they depart the next day.

Within Beicheng’s Yunxi Hospital was a high-end recuperation facility, much like a private villa. Gu Yuntian settled in there. Wang Keru found it quite pleasant after visiting and decided to stay as well. Grandma Chen, accustomed to living with them, also stayed.

Once everyone was settled, Gu Anxi returned to Si Garden with the Bo family. She was rather tired and had fallen asleep in the car.

When they got out of the car, Bo Nianyao whispered, "She must be exhausted! Xichen, carry her to the Orchid Room. Be careful."

Madame Bo’s heart ached for her too. Anxi’s constitution had always been delicate; taking care of her father in Qingcheng these past few days must have exhausted her.

Bo Xichen nodded and gently carried Gu Anxi to the bedroom, carefully placing her on the bed.

Actually, Gu Yuntian’s condition was stable, but love often breeds anxiety. Anxi had probably been by his side every night these past few days. Sitting by the bed, looking at her weary face, he felt a pang of guilt; he shouldn’t have left her alone in Qingcheng.

He watched over her like this until she woke up.

When Gu Anxi opened her eyes, she saw her uncle sitting by the bed. She asked in a soft, sweet voice, "Have you been here the whole time?"

"Yes, the whole time," he replied, his head lowered, his voice hoarse.

Gu Anxi shifted closer, snuggling against him. "Uncle, I just had a dream. Waking up, I can hardly believe all of this is real."
