Chapter 53: I Have to Take Responsibility
CHAPTER 53: CHAPTER 53: I HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
Gu Anxi closed her phone and remained silent for a long time.
Bo Xichen sat behind his desk and dialed Feng Mian’s number, asking him to come over. After hanging up, he gestured for Gu Anxi to sit on the sofa.
Bo Xichen’s fingers toyed with his phone; those ten fingers, slender and jade-like in color, even caused Gu Anxi to be momentarily dazed by their elegance.
Bo Xichen looked at her. "You scored zero on all of them? Is your professional knowledge that poor?"
Gu Anxi hung her head.
Bo Xichen said, "I’ll tutor you myself from now on. Any problems with that?"
Gu Anxi leaned against the sofa, her face propped on her elbow, looking at him.
Bo Xichen lowered his gaze, his fingers gripping the phone tightening slightly. "You call me Little Uncle; I have to take responsibility."
Gu Anxi’s voice was weak. "I was just calling you that casually."
He gazed at her, not speaking a word.
Feng Mian, standing to the side, was utterly confused.
Little... Little Uncle? Mr. Bo was asking Gu Anxi to call him Little Uncle? But weren’t his parents...
Feng Mian’s heart pounded violently; he hardly dared to breathe.
Previously, he had only thought Mr. Bo found Gu Anxi interesting because she was unique and happened to be a patient’s relative. But now, he no longer thought so. Mr. Bo clearly had ulterior motives. These step-by-step advances were truly subtle, like a gentle rain nourishing unseen.
As Feng Mian reeled from these realizations, Bo Xichen had already picked out a few books and tossed them to Gu Anxi. "Read these first. Ask if you don’t understand."
He then looked at Feng Mian. "Help me check Elder He’s schedule. If he’s available, invite him to Qingcheng for a visit."
Feng Mian swallowed. "Elder He? Why invite Elder He?"
Bo Xichen casually flipped through a book. "To have him give Gu Anxi some guidance on basic drawing techniques."
Feng Mian almost fainted. Any art teacher could instruct on basic drawing techniques. To ask Elder He to do it—wasn’t that a gross misuse of his great talent?
Bo Xichen glanced sideways. "I’ll call him myself."
He himself didn’t have much of a relationship with Elder He; after all, there was a significant age gap. However, Elder He and his father got along very well. Bo Xichen was considered a junior, so it wasn’t out of line for him to invite an elder over for a chat.
Feng Mian let out a breath and glanced at Gu Anxi, who was off to the side.
What a stroke of luck! This girl probably still had no idea what incredible fortune had just struck her, right? With Mr. Bo’s favor, what couldn’t she obtain? The Bo Family was a powerhouse in Beicheng, the foremost of the four great families. Moreover, Mr. Bo was notoriously averse to women. Why would he take an interest in this little block of wood? This little block of wood was beautiful, true, but she didn’t talk much and rarely smiled. Wouldn’t he find her dull?
Gu Anxi stared at Bo Xichen. "Elder He? The Elder He from Beicheng?"
Bo Xichen nodded, walked over to the sofa, and sat down. He reached out to ruffle her hair. "Study hard when he arrives. Elder He rarely teaches anyone."
Gu Anxi’s expression was quite odd. She said softly, "But he already has a great disciple!"
"Yes." Bo Xichen didn’t make a secret of it. "I heard from my father that Elder He is very fond of his disciple; she’s very talented."
His fingers curled slightly, and he lowered his gaze. "Her name is Luo Lin."
Gu Anxi gave another vague hum of acknowledgment and then started looking at the materials.
Bo Xichen focused on his documents.
Feng Mian sighed. Is this considered dating? It looks like it to him!
「At noon」
Gu Anxi had lunch right there with Bo Xichen. Her class was at 2 p.m.
Just as she was about to leave, Bo Xichen’s voice came from behind his desk, "Don’t sleep in class. After school, go straight to the parking lot. I’ll take you back to the hospital."
