CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 55 CAN’T GO BACK? IT’S ONLY WHETHER I WANT TO GO OR NOT!
Gu Anxi smiled.
She was smiling at a stranger, and when she did, there was not a trace of defensiveness in her eyes.
She was completely at ease.
Shen Wanqing was standing next to Qin Siyuan. She spoke in a soft voice, "That’s the new Professor Bo. He’s said to be Gu Anxi’s uncle."
Worry was written all over her face as she continued, "Anxi used to work at Di Se. Could he be an uncle she met there?"
Qin Siyuan glanced at her without saying a word.
After they paid their bill and were about to leave, Qin Siyuan saw Gu Anxi and Bo Xichen about to get into a car together.
He couldn’t help but call out, "Gu Anxi."
He quickly walked over as he spoke. Shen Wanqing instinctively tried to grab him, but he was moving too quickly.
Gu Anxi, with her hand on the car door, turned her head to see Qin Siyuan.
Qin Siyuan slowed his pace and walked over calmly, his gaze fixed on Bo Xichen. "Aren’t you going to introduce him?"
Just as Gu Anxi was about to speak, Bo Xichen spoke first, "Bo Xichen, a surgeon at Yunxi Hospital, and also Mr. Gu’s attending physician."
Qin Siyuan understood then that they had met at the hospital. However, why did this doctor seem so familiar?
Qin Siyuan’s voice turned noticeably colder. "The person who drove Gu Anxi to my home last time—was that you, Dr. Bo?"
There was a strong sense of possessiveness in his words.
Bo Xichen naturally heard it but paid it no mind. His gaze landed on Gu Anxi’s face. "You didn’t tell your brother last time?"
Qin Siyuan’s fists clenched tightly.
Feng Mian, in the driver’s seat, almost burst out laughing. He hadn’t realized Professor Bo was so formidable. With a single mention of ’brother,’ he’d managed to get one up on Qin Siyuan. After all, Professor Bo was Gu Anxi’s uncle. In one fell swoop, he had become a generation older than Qin Siyuan.
Qin Siyuan felt slighted but couldn’t express his anger. He could only look at Gu Anxi and say, "Come home with me. Auntie misses you, and my eldest sister is back too. Let’s all have dinner together."
At this point, Shen Wanqing walked over and said gently, "Yes, Anxi. Sister Si Lan invited me to stay, but I can’t take your room. It would be inconvenient later if Auntie misses you and you wanted to visit."
Her words sounded tactful enough, but they were laden with implications—even if Gu Anxi wanted to go back, no one in the Qin family would welcome her unless Qin Siling permitted it.
Gu Anxi didn’t care about any of this; she just looked at Qin Siyuan.
Then, Shen Wanqing leaned close to Gu Anxi and whispered, "You can’t go back, Gu Anxi."
"Really?" Gu Anxi chuckled lightly. "I don’t know of any place I can’t return to. It’s only a matter of whether I want to or not."
Qin Siyuan frowned. "Anxi, what are you talking about?"
Gu Anxi ignored him and got straight into the car.
Bo Xichen smiled faintly. "Excuse us." He followed her in, and the car door closed.
As the car drove away, Qin Siyuan’s fists clenched again.
He stood there, dazed. Shen Wanqing took his arm and whispered, "Siyuan, do you think Anxi might be going astray?"
Qin Siyuan glanced at her but said nothing, merely walking towards his own car.
Shen Wanqing bit her lip, followed him, and forced a faint smile. "I heard Jiang Wanyin wants to pursue Gu Anxi. Maybe we can help set them up? It would be better than her associating with... certain kinds of people."
