CHAPTER 65: CHAPTER 65: THE WAY YOU CLIMBED UP IS THE WAY YOU’LL COME DOWN!
The Qing University auditorium was filled with students.
Foreign guests had arrived, accompanied by the deans of various departments and key members of the student union. Qingcheng’s leadership also attached great importance to this event at Qing University, sending personnel from the Ministry of Education to attend. Much of Qingcheng’s mainstream media was present, their countless cameras focused on the stage. Additionally, many prominent figures from Qingcheng had come to show their support.
Qin Han and Wang Keru were among them. Qin Han had originally been too busy to attend. However, Shen Wanqing had specifically called, saying Qin Siyuan invited him to come and watch, mentioning that Qin Siyuan himself had arranged today’s event.
So, Qin Han came. Seeing his son playing a leading role in the reception, his distinguished appearance and fluent English earning him extra points and attracting the admiration of all the female students, Qin Han felt quite proud. He was, however, quite surprised to see Gu Anxi standing on the podium. Wasn’t she notorious for her poor academic performance, usually scoring zero on exams and such?
Mrs. Qin, beyond her surprise, felt a little smug.
Gu Anxi’s beauty was truly undeniable; she was a sight to behold wherever she stood. Looking across Qingcheng, no one could compare, and even in Beicheng, there were likely few who could match her.
Gu Anxi saw them too. Her gaze lingered for a few seconds before moving away.
She was waiting for Shen Wanqing’s script. But Shen Wanqing had been gone for an awfully long time...
Gu Anxi lowered her eyes, a cold smirk playing on her lips. She knew all too well what tricks Shen Wanqing might be up to! That senior student’s sudden stomach upset probably wasn’t so simple either.
Finally, Shen Wanqing approached. She handed the script to Qin Siyuan, managing to draw attention to herself in the process.
Qin Siyuan was her boyfriend. But that wasn’t enough for her. She wanted to be the one standing under the dazzling lights, receiving the envious gazes of others. She just hadn’t expected Gu Anxi to appear out of nowhere and disrupt her plans.
Qin Siyuan didn’t dwell on it. He had someone nearby pass the script to Gu Anxi while he himself continued to maintain order in the venue.
The speech was due to start in one minute.
Shen Wanqing sat down, coincidentally right next to Qin Han and Wang Keru.
Qin Han spoke a few gentle words to her, treating her as if she were already family. Shen Wanqing, in turn, was very demure, even calling Wang Keru "Auntie."
Then, as if casually remarking, she said, "Anxi’s spoken English is very good, so it was arranged for her to read the script."
Qin Han was somewhat surprised. "Isn’t it supposed to be memorized?"
Shen Wanqing smiled faintly. "Uncle, memorizing such a long script might be a bit difficult for Anxi, so she can only read it..."
Qin Han’s initially improved opinion of Gu Anxi began to waver. With this explanation, it seemed Gu Anxi was on stage purely because the university valued her appearance. At this thought, Qin Han’s enthusiasm cooled, and he stopped taking Gu Anxi so seriously.
Wang Keru, sitting nearby, was quite displeased but couldn’t say anything. She’d been having a terrible time lately, with Qin Siling acting like a tyrant at home. She had come out today hoping to unwind and had felt a moment of gratification seeing Gu Anxi making a good showing, only for Shen Wanqing to douse her spirits.
She watched Gu Anxi on stage, who was just then receiving the script from a student union member...
