Chapter 183: Chapter 195: She is My Unexpected Surprise (8) Chapter 183: Chapter 195: She is My Unexpected Surprise (8) When Isabel returned to the living room, Percy was talking with Mrs. Smith, Sebastian Smith, and Carla Osbert while seated on the sofa.
Although they were chatting, most of the conversation was between Sebastian and Carla, while Percy remained silent throughout. His eyes were indifferent, his demeanor calm, and his entire being exuded a cold aura. He never gave any reaction to Sebastian and Carla’s words.
Only when Mrs. Smith occasionally interjected did Percy nod slightly towards her, showing a hint of emotion.
Such a low-key and composed Percy made it difficult for Sebastian and Carla to deduce the young man’s true thoughts and feelings.
Moreover, Percy had long become a legendary figure in the Bellshire business circle, and his current behavior only added to his mysteriousness.
Isabel walked gracefully to the front of the sofa, first looking at Mrs. Smith and calling out, “Grandma.”
Then, she slowly turned her gaze to Sebastian and Carla, her eyes gentle as jade. However, her hand quietly clenched into a fist: “Uncle, Auntie.”
Carla had always been good at building relationships. Upon hearing Isabel’s words, she immediately showed a warm smile, stood up, took Isabel’s hand, and pulled her to sit on the sofa. “Isabel, we didn’t get a chance to talk properly at the wine party last time. It’s been so many years since we’ve seen you; you’ve grown much more beautiful than before.”
Isabel lowered her head and smiled faintly. Before she could speak, Mrs. Smith who was sitting next to her, said, “The older Isabel grows, the more she resembles her mother.”
As she lowered her head, a cold light flashed in Isabel’s eyes for an instant before returning to their usual softness. She looked up at Mrs. Smith with a smile and said, “Isn’t it natural for a child to resemble their mother? Just like my father, when I looked at his photo just now, I noticed that some of his features resembled Grandma’s.”
What does it mean to harm oneself while hurting others?
Isabel thought, this was an example of that.
By deliberately emphasizing the words “my father”, the saddest people in the room were undoubtedly herself and her grandma, who was her father’s biological mother.
However, even if it hurt herself, she still had to say it. She wanted to remind the Sebastian Smith family of her father, so they wouldn’t forget the terrible things they had done in the past!
Isabel’s hand clenched into a tight fist, her body tense, as her gaze silently swept across everyone in the room.
Mrs. Smith was suddenly reminded of her lost eldest son, and even though she usually held herself with authority, her face now showed a touch of grief and tears welled up in her eyes.
As for Sebastian, Carla, and Evelyn Osbert who had already come to the living room, their faces showed a subtle pause.
Percy was sitting next to Isabel and could clearly feel her entire body tense up after saying those words. However, he soon heard Carla ask a servant in the kitchen, “Is lunch ready?”
“It’s ready, Second Wife.”
Evelyn quickly regained her composure, seeing her mother shift the topic, she hurried to Mrs. Smith’s side, put her arm around her neck, wiped away her tears, and cooed, “Grandma, Sister Isabel hasn’t been back for six years. Isn’t it such a wonderful thing that she’s back now? Why think of the sad and upsetting things?”
The next second, Mrs. Smith’s face brightened under Evelyn’s comforting words.
