Chapter 194 - 194 206 Isabel Smith You Bandit (7)
Chapter 194: Chapter 206: Isabel Smith, You Bandit (7) Chapter 194: Chapter 206: Isabel Smith, You Bandit (7) Isabel Smith was sipping her soup when she heard this comment. She was on the brink of bursting into laughter, so she had to lower her head forcefully, trying desperately to suppress her hilarity, while she slowly swallowed her soup bit by bit.
She had to admit that Percy Stanton’s response was wonderfully clever and brilliant!
It complimented Mrs. Smith, yet at the same time retaliated against Carla Osbert’s words.
Isabel sneakily lifted her eyelids and looked at Carla. As she expected, Carla’s complexion was alternating between white and green, and the dignified smile she had been putting on was about to break.
Mrs. Smith, on the other hand, had a face full of delight. Like all women, no matter how old they are, they would feel happy from the bottom of their hearts when complimented. Therefore, Mrs. Smith looked at Percy, laughing, “Mr. Stanton, you’re good at joking! I’m an old lady now, with my grandchildren all grown up. How could I still be young and attractive?”
Percy’s face was stunning beyond comparison. Now, as he looked at Mrs. Smith, his deep, glossy eyes seemed to cast a shining glow, irresistibly attracting people. Even Mrs. Smith had to squint from his glance. Percy gave Mrs. Smith a slow smile and spoke in his unique, gentle tone, “Mrs. Smith, you are too modest. Ask Madam Smith if she thinks you are still young and beautiful.”
Upon hearing this, Carla could only force herself to smile. She turned her head to look at Mrs. Smith and said insincerely, “Mr. Stanton is correct. My mother-in-law looks very youthful and stunning. Many times, when we go to banquets, people don’t think we’re in a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship, instead, they think we’re sisters.”
Hearing this, Isabel couldn’t help laughing, and accidentally coughed. She quickly raised her hand to cover her mouth, glanced at Carla’s pale face, and the corners of her mouth hidden by her hand couldn’t help twitching fast.
She knew how vain Carla, this third-rate starlet, was when she married Sebastian Smith.
Now that Percy Stanton was comparing her to her grandmother, it was enough to stoke the fire in her heart. Later, he even forced her to utter insincere words, praising her grandmother to look just like her, must have stirred up Carla’s urge to vomit blood from deep within!
No matter whether Percy’s and Carla’s words were sincere or not, Mrs. Smith was, all in all, delighted and overjoyed, discussing some maintenance tips in a great mood with Carla.
Carla had the impulse to put down her cutlery and leave, but she had to suppress the anger inside her, occasionally lifting her head to return Mrs. Smith’s smile warmly and answer Mrs. Smith’s questions.
However, as time went on, Carla’s smile became increasingly strained, and even at times, her tone was not as gentle and soft as always, revealing impatience several times.
Sebastian Smith seemed to have noticed Carla’s odd behavior, and timely intervened in the conversation, diverting the topic, “Mum, you can talk about these things with Carla privately afterwards. Today, we invited Mr. Stanton over for dinner to discuss matters regarding the Smith Corporation.”
Mrs. Smith promptly came back to her senses after being reminded by Sebastian, laughing, “See how forgetful I am. I would have forgotten about the main business if Sebastian hadn’t mentioned it.”
Seeing the topic finally shifting, Carla took a deep breath, her entire body lax with relief.
Fearing the conversation would veer back to those irrelevant female topics, Sebastian immediately turned to Percy, his tone sounding very modest, “Mr. Stanton, we’re glad you could join our Smith Corporation. I have studied the few shopping mall projects that you have worked on. They are all impeccable, truly admirable from the bottom of my heart!”
Percy Stanton, facing Sebastian’s praise, showed no intention of responding. He just lifted his head nonchalantly, giving Sebastian a slight nod, which was his reply to Sebastian’s words.
