Alyssa remained unfazed by Sophia’s hypocritical behavior. She had divulged that information to tell

Mandy that Alyssa was not only used but also a gold digger from a rural vige.

Rosaline and Liana were secretly delighted.

The Taylors and the Becketts were at odds. Jonah was Winston’s eldest son and held a prestigious

status. There was no woman out of his reach.

How could he possibly want a woman the Becketts had abandoned? It was funny to even think

about it.

Jasper frowned in displeasure. “That’s personal. You have no right to discuss it.”

“Jasper, it may be personal, but it concerns the Becketts and the Taylors. I’m just trying to prevent

any potential shock when people find out that your ex–wife is here. I’m doing this for everyone’s

saké!” Sophia continued to fuss.

“Does it concern both families? Didn’t Ms. White divorce Mr. Beckett? Divorce means no ties

anymore. So why do you think that Ms. White is affecting your family?” Mandy asked with a

sneer. “Did she sign a contract when she became a part of your family? Will she still be a part of your

family even after death?

“Ms. White found happiness with Jonah. There’s nothing shameful about it. Just because she

divorced doesn’t mean my family won’t ept her. Come on, it’s the 21st century. Mrs. Beckett,

you should be more open–minded. Don’t get all riled up for nothing.”

Landon almost cheered as he found Mandy’s words so satisfying to hear. Betty and the Gardners

were shocked and speechless. They stood there in embarrassment.

Why did Mandy seem like a lioness protecting her cub?

“Mrs. Taylor, you also hail from a noble family, so you must understand what I mean!” Sophia

pleaded, but she received no response.

Flushing red in embarrassment and anxiety, she continued, “Right after Ms. White left Jasper, she

immediately got together with Mr. Taylor. If words of it get out, people might think they had an

improper rtionship while she was still married. It’s so embarrassing! Shouldn’t you think on

behalf of your son? After all, you’re thedy of the Taylor family.”

“Enough!” Mandy lifted a hand. It was all it took to make Sophia stop.

“This is the private matter of our children. While I may be older than them, I’m not Jonah’s

mother. So I have no right to intervene. Mrs. Beckett, you are not Mr. Beckett’s biological mother, either

Don’t you think it’s unbing of an older family member to speak of these things in

Sophia was rendered speechless.

“Yes, Winston is indeed my man,” Mandy said firmly. “But I don’t want to hear you say that I am thedy

of the Taylor family again.

Mandy’s stern warning frightened Sophia. And her face turned pale as a ghost. She stood there as stiff

as an ice sculpture.

Alyssa chewed on her lips. She tried to swallow the lump in her throat.

There was only onedy of the Taylor family–her mother.

Jasper pursed his lips, and her stare wavered. He didn’t like Alice. Their rtionship was nothing but a

paper record. Besides, she had brought him many unhappy moments by provoking him on things he

was sensitive about.

Strangely, when Sophia taunted Alice, he felt like his dignity was being rubbed on the ground. He was

experiencing empathy for her that he couldn’t begin toprehend.

“Ms. White, are you looking for Jonah? Shall I apany you?” Mandy asked gently as her gaze

returned to Alyssa.

“Thank you, Mrs. Taylor. I appreciate it,” Alyssa replied with a gentle and obedient smile of a well-

behaved youngdy.

“Such a polite and beautiful child,” Mandy said loud and clear. She held Alyssa’s hand. “Jonah’s made

a wise choice in choosing you as his girlfriend.”
