Captive By Desire, A Love We Can't Deny
Chapter 39: I Have No Choice!
CHAPTER 39: I HAVE NO CHOICE!
Alpha Maxwell met his parents’ unwavering gaze, he said, "Dad, Mom, the woman’s name is Naomi Greene. She is the daughter of Alpha Thomas Greene of the Blue Moon Pack," he said calmly.
Luna Adela gasped in shock and disbelief. "What the hell? Of all people? The woman you impregnated is the daughter of our hated enemy?"
Alpha Nelson hardened in anger. "No way!" he hissed angrily.
"Since you asked for her name, I already gave you one. That’s the truth," Alpha Maxwell said in a dispirited tone.
Alpha Nelson’s eyes narrowed into a slit. "But why did you still impregnate her when you knew she was the daughter of our enemy?" he snapped, furious.
"Because I have no choice, Dad. The kidnappers will never release us unless we give them what they want. They did not ask for a ransom, they just want me and Naomi to fall in love with each other and have a son together. That’s what they want us to do. I repeat, they never hurt me and Naomi even once," he explained.
"You still want to defend those kidnappers? What if the kidnapping accident was the scheme of that shameless woman’s family? I am sure they were the mastermind behind your kidnapping and lured you with their daughter! That family is evil personified. They won’t stop unless they get what they want from us! And that is to steal our business from us. Now they trick you with a child. What are they planning? Do they think we will cave in and get chummy with them after all these years? Their betrayal runs deep, and our family will never be able to forgive them!" Alpha Nelson snarled, exploding in anger.
Alpha Maxwell sighed heavily, disappointed in his father’s immature reaction. "The great-great grandfathers of both families used to be bestfriends and went into business together. They started the business partnership but betrayed each other due to greed and envy. Whatever happened in the past, it should remain in the past. The current generation has nothing to do with the sins of the past. Maybe this time our families need to bury the hatchet and reconcile. Let bygones be bygones. Let’s all move on together," he pleaded.
"Noooo! After what the Greene family did to us? After the betrayal that took place fifty years ago, we will never forgive those thieves! They almost bankrupted the businesses that our grandparents established for our future because of their greed and envy! The Green family doesn’t deserve our forgiveness! They shall never be forgiven!" Alpha Nelson said indignantly.
"But Dad, our business is doing great and the Greene family also has their own thriving business. The two people who were involved in the business partnership in the past were already dead. We have nothing to do with the hatred they kept hidden in their hearts. The current generation should never suffer from their mistakes. We can’t continue with the tradition of hating each other’s families until the end of time. It doesn’t make sense at all!" Alpha Maxwell blurted in frustration, desperate for his father to see reason and not be influenced by the painful betrayal that took place in the past.
"Maxwell is right, son. We have to move on," Grandma Franchia agreed, siding with her grandson.
Alpha Nelson snapped. "We will never initiate reconciliation with them. Never!" he defiantly said.
"Fine," Grandma Franchia said. "But what will happen to Maxwell’s son with Naomi?"
"Nothing!" Alpha Nelson retorted menacingly. "If that woman wasn’t part of the Greene family, we could give her some financial assistance every month for the baby’s needs. But since she belongs to the Greene family, she will never get anything from us. My decision is final!"
"But Dad, I love Naomi. I love our son. I want to marry her!" Alpha Maxwell insisted.
"No! That will never happen. Over my dead body!" Alpha Nelson said authoritatively.
"How about Deborah and your son with her? Are you going to abandon them just because of that woman?" Luna Adela asked.
"I no longer have feelings for Deborah. It would be unfair on her part if I married her just because we had a son together. I can’t do that anymore!" Alpha Maxwell said in a serious tone, wanting them to know that he already loved another woman and they must respect the wishes of his heart.
"That would be unfair to Deborah. You got her pregnant. You should marry her! She deserves to be your wife, not that daughter of our enemy!" Alpha Nelson yelled vehemently.
Grandma Franchia shakes her head, disappointed with the results of their conversation. "Guys, let’s continue this conversation tonight when all our heads have cooled down," she suggested, trying to make eye contact with her daughter-in-law.
Luna Adela got the silent memo, and quickly said, "Husband, let’s go to our room and rest. We just arrived home and we are very tired of our journey. Let’s all continue this conversation tonight after we already have a good rest. OK?"
Alpha Nelson refused to budge. He was still annoyed by his son’s revelations. With fire in his eyes, he pointed his fingers at his son. "You will stay in the house! You are not going anywhere. You are grounded. You are not allowed to see or meet that woman! Forget about her from now on. She is no longer part of your life. She never will!" he said vehemently, his eyes flashing with resentment.
Alpha Maxwell took a deep breath, and closed his eyes, trying hard to control his temper. He prevented himself from yelling back at his father. After all, he was still his father.
Grandma Franchia rubbed his back gently and whispered, "My boy, don’t get into a verbal fight with your father. He will never change his mind. You will never win against him."
Alpha Maxwell nodded his head. "Copy Grams," he replied wearily.
Alpha Nelson and Luna Adela finally left the living room and proceeded to their room on the second floor of the mansion.
When they were the only people left in the living room, Grandma Franchia asked, "My boy, have you tried contacting Naomi today or how about last night?"
Alpha Maxwell shakes his head. "Not yet. I don’t know what to do about it. I promised her that after we are release from the facility I would introduce her to my family. Unfortunately, Dad and Mom would never accept her so what is the point? Besides, I still need to fix the problem I had with Deborah. I will make a decision in the coming days..."
"But you should at least say hello to Naomi. Your silence will definitely hurt her. She might think that you have already given up on her. Don’t leave her hanging in the dark. Just tell her about your situation at home, that you are having a hard time with everyone, especially your fiancee. I’m sure she will understand how difficult your situation is. Have you already told her about Deborah?" Grandma Franchia asked.
"Yes, she knows Deborah. She also had a boyfriend. I don’t know if she and her boyfriend have already seen each other as of this moment," Alpha Maxwell said worriedly.
"Ah, I see... you both have similar problems to deal with. Aren’t you curious about what is going on with her life right now?" she asked.
"I’m curious of course," Alpha Maxwell replied gloomily. Naomi’s face suddenly appeared in his mind. He misses her and his son baby Jacob so much. His heart was aching for them, longed for the day he would see them again.
"Just send her a message informing her that you are doing well. She could be waiting for your call or text message at this very moment." Grandma continues her prodding, wanting the couple to reconnect. She was excited to see baby Jacob one day.
"As of the moment, I’m not in the mood to contact her after what Dad told me. He will never accept her. He will never accept baby Jacob and that broke my heart. What should I do?" Alpha Maxwell groaned, lamenting in despair. "He told me not to see Naomi again. And I can’t leave the house. I’m grounded!" he added exasperatedly.
Grandma sighed. "I know my boy, but if that is the case then you can go to the ranch and stay there until your father’s rage cools down. Maybe when the right time comes he will be ready to accept Naomi and baby Jacob as part of our family."
"I hope so, Grams. But I also need to sort out my relationship with Deborah first. My problems have no end. I got a painful headache just thinking about my situation," Alpha Maxwell said morosely.
Grandma Franchia fell silent for a moment, then smiled brightly and said, "I do have a suggestion that might solve your problem with the two women in your life..."
Alpha Maxwell’s brows drew together. "Let me hear about it, Grams."
"If these two women truly love you, they will be willing to share you with each other. You don’t have to abandon each other. It’s a good setup for the two women in your life," Grandma suggested casually.
"Huh? You mean I will go down the harem path?" he asked incredulously. "You want me to have two wives?"
"Yup. If this is the only way to solve your problem, do it! The person who does not agree with the set-up will ultimately lose you. Let’s see who loves you the most, Deborah or Naomi?" Grandma said, her eyes gleamed.
"But even if they agree, Dad will never accept Naomi as part of our family," he blurted his concern.
"Maybe not as of the moment, but later on, when he keeps seeing your son and Naomi in this house, the hatred in his heart will melt away. You will never know the result unless you try it," Grandma said.
"Grams, I’m not sure if Naomi will agree to that kind of setup." Alpha Maxwell sighed heavily.
"That is why you have to go to your room now and send a message to Naomi," Grandma said, rising to her feet.
Alpha Maxwell nodded his head. "OK. I’ll do it. I will initiate contact with Naomi now."
"Good!" Grandma said with a thumbs up.
Together, they left the living room, climbed the staircase and went to their respective rooms on the second floor.
