Captive By Desire, A Love We Can't Deny
Chapter 50: Fracture
CHAPTER 50: FRACTURE
But he was not able to proceed to the garage because his entire family had gathered in the living room, including Becca. He sneaked a glance at his grandma. She shook her head, signaling that today was not the right time to leave.
They looked at him. Damn, he can’t leave the house today. A sigh escaped his lips.
"Son, come here and join us for a chit chat," Luna Adela said, beckoning her son to sit beside her on the sofa.
Alpha Maxwell sighed inwardly and sat on the sofa beside his mother. He glanced at his grandmother who took a deep breath and rolled her eyes, as if saying they were caught before they could leave the house.
"Where is Deborah?" Alpha Nelson asked.
"She is in my bedroom taking care of our son," Alpha Maxwell replied.
Alpha Nelson smiled. "I see, you two already get along fine. No problem, right? We should resume discussing the wedding now that we’re all gathered here enjoying family time."
Knowing full well that the couple are not on good terms with each other yet, Becca cleared her throat, ready to reveal the truth, including what she witnessed earlier in her brother’s room. "Forgive me, Dad, but I think before any wedding can happen, my brother should make sure he will not hurt Deborah physically because she is the mother of his child." She looked at her brother with contempt in her eyes.
Everyone’s eyes are on Becca, wondering what she’s talking about. They were surprised because they thought Alpha Maxwell and his fiancee had reconnected well and everything was good between them.
Alpha Maxwell eyed his sister resentfully, annoyed by her betrayal. She sided with her friend Deborah instead of him, her very own flesh and blood. He was very disappointed in her. It seemed the women’s closeness to each other was thicker than blood.
Alpha Nelson’s brows drew together. He noticed the heated glances between his son and daughter. "What’s going on? Becca, is there something I didn’t know that you want to tell us?" he asked his daughter directly.
Becca sighed. "The truth is... Brother Maxwell doesn’t want Deborah in his bedroom. He tried to kick her out but she stayed stubbornly in his room, never planning to leave. When bro left the room Deborah found his phone in his jacket and when she tried to open the phone she saw the other baby’s face on the screen as his wallpaper. Obviously the baby was his son with that woman. Deborah got jealous and threw the phone on the floor repeatedly, then dumped the parts into the toilet bowl. Because of that reason, bro got mad and wanted to hit Debora’s face. Good thing I entered the room before he could destroy her face with his mighty hands," she explained, glaring at her brother.
"You saw what she was trying to do with my phone yet you didn’t stop her? What kind of sister are you?" Alpha Maxwell snarled vehemently.
"Phones can be bought anytime but the pain you caused Deborah’s heart can’t be erased! You betrayed her by impregnating the daughter of our enemy! That’s unacceptable and unforgivable!" Becca ranted.
"You should stay out of my affairs, sis!" Alpha Maxwell warned her.
"Enough!" Alpha Nelson intervened to put an end to the siblings’ heated argument. He barks his order. "Becca, go upstairs and stay with Deborah. Don’t leave her until we are done talking here."
"Copy Dad." Becca quickly left the living room and went upstairs to be with her friend.
Back in the living room, everyone was on edge.
Alpha Maxwell broke the tense silence, looking at his father. "Dad, I want to resume my position in the company. I’m bored here in the house doing nothing," he said, his tone serious.
Alpha Nelson shook his head and replied, "No. Your brother Zian is currently occupying your position and I like his performance so far. I will not accept you back into the company unless you marry Deborah first. Your life is a big mess. Show me your serious intention towards your fiancée and I’ll give you another important position in our company. Prove to me that you are man enough to honor your responsibility for Deborah so we can all move on from this incident."
Alpha Maxwell groaned in dismay. It looks like he can only get back his life and position in their company if he marries Deborah. If he doesn’t obey his father’s wishes, he will forever be grounded in the house. Unless Deborah falls in love with another guy... until then his future will be dark from now on. What should he do now?
But they won’t be able to keep him in the house for long. He will find a way to leave without their knowledge. He will patiently wait for the right time to escape. He hopes Naomi won’t marry her boyfriend yet because if she does, their love story will have no happy endings. He took a deep breath. His old phone was already destroyed, time to use the new one his grandma gave him.
"Son, now that it comes to this, let’s make your wedding with Deborah quick and less hassle by initiating a civil wedding ceremony. The event will take place here in the house. I have a judge friend who is willing to officiate the ceremony here. I already talked to him about it last night and he agreed. I also discussed it with Deborah before she came here. She also agreed to speed up the wedding as soon as possible and that would be in the next few days. Your mother and I are still finalizing the date," Alpha Nelson explained calmly.
Stunned, Alpha Maxwell’s eyes darkened in shock and outrage. "What the hell? I’m supposed to be the groom and the last to know? Why are you doing this to me Dad? You are supposed to ask me if I’m willing to marry the bride or not? What do you think of me? A robot? I’m your son for fuck’s sake! I’m not a mindless moron who has no emotions. It’s my life and happiness that we are talking about here. I will object to the wedding!" he snarled, furious at their excessive intrusion into his life.
Enraged, Zian reacted. "You an asshole! How dare you insult our father like that?" He stood up and moved at lightning speed, grabbing his brother’s shirt and punching him in the face.
Alpha Maxwell fought back and punched his brother in the face. The brothers hurled punches at each other to everyone’s horror.
"Boys, please stop fighting!" Luna Adela screamed in agony. Seeing her two sons fighting was painful to watch.
They all scrambled to stop the violent fight that ensued between two ferocious brothers.
By the time they finished separating the two hot tempered beasts, both siblings got cuts and bleeding on their noses.
Zian shouted menacingly. "You should never have returned, brother! You only bring chaos to this peaceful house. You have no respect for our father. You should go back to where you came from. Leave this house now!" He ordered, scolding his brother.
"Why do you hate me so, bro? Are you afraid that I will take back what you are enjoying right now? Are you scared? Spoiled brat!" Alpha Maxwell spat angrily, hating his brother for being an asshole. Zian was a spoiled brat in the past and the only thing he was good at was partying with his friends and wasting his generous monthly allowance. Now he has become a different man. He looks serious and more career-minded. Which was actually a good thing. His absence somehow transformed his brother into a responsible adult. But he also became an arrogant bastard towards him.
"Boys stop fighting and insulting each other!" Alpha Nelson’s loud voice thundered around the living room. Watching his two sons fight each other in front of him deeply upset and annoyed him.
"Give me the first aid kit!" Luna Adela orders the startled maid standing nearby. Horrified to see the bloody faces of her children. It is the first time her adult children have had a physical fight in front of her. It’s a terrible scene to witness from a parent’s view.
"Copy Luna." The maid quickly scurried away to get the requested items.
Grandma Franchia grabbed Alpha Maxwell’s arms. "I’ll treat his injury upstairs in my room," she said and pushed him gently towards the staircase. Not waiting for another round of fighting to erupt again.
They climbed the staircase in silence and proceeded to Grandma’s room.
When they arrived in the room, Grandma ordered, "My boy, sit on the chair. I’ll get the first aid kit from the drawer," she ordered.
Alpha Maxwell sits in the chair, glancing over the window. His injury doesn’t bother him much. It’s just a punch to the nose which caused bleeding and a small cut. He was just thankful he didn’t lose a tooth to his brother’s punch.
Grandma removed everything from the first aid kit box and arranged them on the table and began attending to his minor injuries.
Alpha Maxwell winced in pain when the medicine came into contact with his open skin.
After applying first aid to her grandson’s wound, Grandma Franchia breathed deeply. "My boy, what have you done?" she asked.
Alpha Maxwell raised a brow, confused by her question. "Grams, I didn’t start the fight. It was my brother and you saw it with your own eyes," he said, defending himself. He was furious that his brother had resorted to violence just to impress his father even more.
Grandma sighed. "Yes, I know. But you shouldn’t have insulted your father," she scolded him.
"I didn’t insult him. I’m mad at him for conspiring with Deborah on planning the wedding without my consent! They hurt my feelings. They don’t really care about my well-being anymore. They just want me to say yes to everything they want me to do. They don’t respect my rights at all. They make my blood boil!" He retorted, seething in anger.
