CHAPTER 52: WHAT A DAY!

The older couple rushed to Alpha Maxwell’s room and were glad to find baby Zed in their son’s arms, safe and no longer crying.

"Where is Deborah?" Alpha Nelson asked, enraged.

"Dad, did you see what that woman did to my son? She almost killed our son! Yet you still want me to marry that deranged woman?" Alpha Maxwell asked in an aggrieved tone.

"Stupid son of mine, you have no right to tell me that because in the first place you are the reason why Deborah went crazy, because you subjected her to so much stress. Any woman would succumb to a mental breakdown if the man she loves betrayed her to another woman. Am I right, my wife?" Alpha Nelson seeks his wife’s validation.

Luna Adela nodded her head. "Your father is right, son."

Alpha Maxwell groaned. It’s understandable that his mother won’t side with him, she will always side with her husband. "How many times have I told you that I didn’t put myself out there to be kidnapped? The kidnapping happened against my will."

"Maybe you are right. The kidnapping was not orchestrated by you. But now that you are back you should do the right thing by marrying the woman who remained loyal and devoted to you. Deborah never looked at another guy. She patiently waited even if there was no sign that you would return alive. But what have you done to her? You hurt her feelings by wanting to marry that woman you just recently met. You are out of your mind!" Alpha Nelson hissed angrily.

"But Dad, I have no more feelings for Deborah. I can’t force myself to love her again," he protested vehemently, fighting for his right to be heard.

"I will give you an ultimatum. Marry Deborah or get out of this house and don’t ever show your face to me again!" Alpha Nelson stated in an irate tone.

"Son, don’t argue with your father. He is right," Luna Adela pleaded.

In order not to prolong their argument, Alpha Maxwell obeyed his mother and kept his mouth shut, ignoring his father’s ramblings, focusing his attention on his son in his arms.

Pissed, Alpha Nelson growled. "Whether you like it or not, the wedding will resume this weekend. If you still refuse to marry Deborah, then prepare to leave this house. I will disown you. If you don’t follow my orders, you are no longer my son. I only keep people in my house as long as they obey me and do not give me problems. Choose wisely!" He warned him sternly and moved to the door to leave.

What the hell?

Stunned, Alpha Maxwell could only stare at his father’s back as he left the room.

Luna Adela remained in the room, looking at her son with sadness in her eyes. Her heart was bleeding for him. His return was supposed to be a happy occasion but what followed after his come back was never ending chaos and everyone was affected.

"Son, please stop disobeying your father’s wishes. He only thinks of your future, he only wants what’s best for you. Please don’t hate him," Luna Adela pleaded, misty-eyed.

"Mom, I feel sad and hurt that Dad would rather give in to Debora’s wishes than side with me who is his own flesh and blood. I thought he loved me, but why is he forcing me to marry that woman I no longer love? He is punishing me!" Alpha Maxwell protested, his voice laced with agitation.

Luna Adela sighed heavily. "Son, listen to me. You just can’t push Deborah away just like that. Before you disappeared, the wedding was already set. If the kidnapping hadn’t happened, you two were already married," she reminded him. "This is just a continuation of your love story with her," she reminded him.

Alpha Maxwell was broken-hearted, devastated by his family’s excessive intrusions into his love life. "I’m disappointed in you, Mom. Of all people you should help me by convincing my father not to control my life. He was forcing me to do something against my will. Can’t you see what he did to me? You guys are so unfair!" he lamented miserably.

Luna Adela shakes her head, feeling upset by the widening rift between father and son. "I have a suggestion for you, my son," she calmly said, closing their distance.

Curious as to what his mother’s suggestion would be, he asked, "What is it, Mom? Tell me about it. I’m all ears..."

"To appease your father’s wrath, just marry Deborah. After a few months if she is no longer happy with the marriage, she will be the first to give up. She will file for a divorce and set you free. Then after the divorce you are now free to marry anyone you like," Luna Adela suggested calmly. "This is the only way you can please everybody," she added.

Alpha Maxwell was stunned. He was surprised by his mother’s suggestion. First it was his grandmother who suggested that it was okay to have two wives, then his mother also had her own suggestion.

"Mom, once I marry Deborah she will never leave my side. She will never divorce me. How can you suggest such a thing to me? You are just like father, not caring about my feelings at all. You just want me to marry Deborah so that the problem will end quickly. You are not really trying to help me at all," he said wearily.

Luna Adela sighed in despair. She didn’t know how to help her son anymore. He refused to listen to her suggestions. It’s quite difficult to convince him. "But son, you should listen to me. It is your only way out. Before you reject my suggestion, think wisely and carefully about your life’s choices, okay?"

"OK." Alpha Maxwell nodded his head just to make his mother stop talking.

"Good. Give me baby Zed. I’ll take care of him," Luna Adela said.

Alpha Maxwell kissed his son’s cheeks and gently placed him in his mother’s arms.

Luna Adela cradled baby Zed comfortably in her arms. "I’m leaving now. While you are alone in silence, take a moment to reflect on your actions and think about my suggestion. It’s for your own good."

"Copy Mom," Alpha Maxwell replied gloomily. He walked to the door and opened it. Luna Adela exited the room.

The moment his mother was already out of the room, he moved to the window, scanning the vast property of his father.

If he leaves this mansion, where will he be going? And what is the future waiting for him out there?

Can he forge his own empire without his father and family’s help?

Maybe yes or maybe not, only time will tell. He won’t know unless he tries to leave his comfort zone and faces the challenges head on.

He still could hear his father’s voice, threatening to disown him if he didn’t marry Deborah.

Heaving a sigh, he looked up at the sky, wondering what happened to Naomi at this moment?

They were facing the same situation, forced to marry the person they no longer love.

Suddenly, he saw a flying object floating in the distance, hovering in his direction, getting closer and closer.

It’s a bird!

No, it’s a drone!

He saw a brown envelope attached to the drone. He opened his palm and the drone landed on his hand.

Who sent this drone to his room?

Who could it be?

Ah, this must be Zero’s idea!

He quickly removed the brown envelope from the drone. He placed the drone in his palm, then it took off and floated away in the direction of the woods nearby.

Curious what Zero sent him, he quickly opened the brown envelope.

Holy shit!

His eyes widened in shock. It was a copy of the marriage certificate for his fake wedding to Naomi in the windowless room.

He stared at the marriage certificate for a long time.

Is this real or fake?

He’s not really sure about the legality of the marriage certificate. The only way to find out is to check it with the Marriage Record Bureau. He doesn’t even have access to a computer as of this moment but he has a new phone. It will do.

His grandma also had a PC in her room. Great!

If he gave this certificate to Deborah, would she even acknowledge it as evidence that they could not marry each other anymore because he was legally married to Naomi?

He can’t present the certificate to Deborah unless his wedding to Naomi was officially registered with the Marriage Record Bureau.

Becca suddenly entered the room. "Bro, you are needed downstairs in the living room," she informed him, looking at the brown envelope on the bed. "What is that?" she asked curiously.

"Nothing. Go now, I’ll be there in a minute," he replied quickly and put the marriage certificate back in the brown envelope. He noticed that his sister had looked intently at the envelope in his hand. "Didn’t you hear me, sis? Leave the room now!" he said irritably.

"Fine!" Becca walked to the door and exited with a loud bang.

"Brat!" Alpha Maxwell hissed in annoyance.

He went to the closet, wondering where to hide the marriage certificate so it wouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. He knew Becca was curious about it. She might try to find the envelope to satisfy her curiosity.

He ended up hiding the brown envelope under the bed.

After taking a deep breath, he left the room, heading downstairs, readying himself for another round of scolding from his parents.
