CHAPTER 55: UNSTABLE

The couple rushed to the door.

Debora exited the vehicle, smiling brightly. "Did you hear the news from Becca, guys? I got Maxwell and Naomi’s marriage erased from public records! I did it. All thanks to my uncle’s help. Where is my hubby Maxwell?" she asked eagerly, excited to rub her victory into his face.

The couple looked at each other, debating whether they would tell her that their son was on his way to his wife’s house.

Debora stared at their faces, waiting for their answer.

"Have a seat first," Alpha Nelson told her.

Feeling anxious, Deborah obeyed and lowered herself to the sofa. She glanced at her friend Becca, who was brooding in silence, standing in the corner.

"Baby Zed, I miss you." Luna Adela took baby Zed into her arms, kissing his chubby cheeks. Her heart melted right away when he smiled brightly. While staring adoringly at his angelic face, another baby’s blurry face appeared in her mind. She remembered her other grandson, Naomi’s son. How does he look like? A growing desire to meet the other grandson filled her heart with deep longing. When can she see baby Jacob?

Deborah looked at her friend. "Becca, where is your brother? I want to see him. Is he in his room upstairs? Did you already break the bad news for him? How did he react?" she asked smugly, anticipating his anguish and sadness that she had defeated him in one swift move.

Becca remained silent.

Deborah ignored her friend’s silence. "I’m going upstairs to his room to talk to him so we can continue our wedding. I want to organize a grand wedding. I’m sure he will cooperate this time," she said, smiling victoriously.

Becca could no longer contain her silence. She rushed to Deborah’s side. "Um, I need to tell you something. My brother is not in his room right now. He’s out of the house."

Deborah’s brows snapped together. "Whaaat? Where did he go? Tell me quickly!" she asked, panicking because she already had a wild guess as to where he was going.

"He left a while ago, heading to Naomi’s house at the Greene mansion," Becca replied with a sigh.

The news was like a bomb that shatter Deborah’s heart. All the victory she felt inside evaporated into thin air. "Why is this happening? Why does he still want to see his mistress? His marriage to that woman was already erased from the database! What a fool! I can’t accept this!" she screamed hysterically, her eyes blazing with fury.

Becca panicked after seeing raw rage flash in her friend’s eyes. "Please calm down, Deb."

"No, it can’t be! He’s mine only. They can’t be together. I will follow him there!" Deborah rushed back to the door.

"Go with her!" Alpha Nelson ordered his daughter.

"Copy Dad!" Becca followed her friend to the car and they settled comfortably in the passenger seat.

After Deborah gave the address of their destination, the driver started the engine and drove the car out of the Burke family’s property.

"Deb, are you okay?" Becca asked her bad-mood friend.

Deborah gritted her teeth in anger. "Why is your brother so obsessed with this woman? I need to see her face to find out what he sees in her. I will destroy that woman’s face! I will destroy her life. That’s the punishment she will get from me for getting in the way of my wedding to your brother," she blurted furiously.

Becca sighed heavily. "Can you please calm down? It’s enough that you already got your uncle involved in erasing my brother’s marriage record. You can’t stir up trouble at that woman’s house. We might encounter unpleasant situations there. Can we just turn around and wait for my brother to come home? Order your driver to return home. Please?" she pleaded.

Deborah shook her head. "No. Let’s continue to our destination. I want to see them with my own eyes!" she adamantly said, refusing to be swayed by her friend’s persuasion. "If you are scared, we will just drop you on the street and you can go home on your own," she suggested.

Becca fears what mentally unstable Deborah will do after she sees her brother with another woman. She might do something stupid which she will regret later. She has no choice but to accompany her friend to Naomi’s house. "By the way, how did you know Naomi’s house address?" she asked.

Deborah answered, "Easy peasy, I already did some research on her address." She opened her shoulder bag to get her phone.

Becca’s eyes widened in fear after seeing a gun in there. "Holy shit! What’s that? Is that gun real and loaded?" she asked in horror.

Deborah grinned devilishly. "What do you think? You can touch it if you want to know if it’s real."

"Are you kidding me? Why would you bring a real gun with you? Are you going to kill someone today?" Becca asked apprehensively.

Deborah shrugged. "If I saw your brother and that woman in each other’s arms today — I would kill that woman!" she replied diabolically.

Becca was terrified of what her friend would do once they arrived at Naomi’s house. Deborah has been mentally unstable lately. "Deb, you can’t use a real gun on that woman. If you accidentally hurt or kill her because of jealousy, you will go to jail, and she and my brother will get married for real. If that happens you will lose everything. How can you raise your beloved baby Zed if you serve years of sentence behind bars for killing that woman? Please think carefully before you do something stupid today that you will regret for the rest of your life. Just think about it, please? Don’t rush and don’t let anger and jealousy turn you into a murderer. OK?"

Deborah grinned, amused by the fear she saw flashing in Becca’s face. "Relax, I’m just going to scare that woman. Maybe if she saw a gun pointing at her temple, she would no longer come between me and your brother. You know sometimes intimidation works..."

Becca sighed heavily. She doesn’t trust Deborah anymore. She needs to think of a way to distract or divert Deborah’s attention. But how? She was confused about what to do. ’Think fast!’ she told herself, panicking.

Unfortunately the vehicle keeps moving on the highway and Becca has a mental block. She can’t think of any ideas that can stop Deborah’s bad intentions.

A few minutes later, they finally arrived at Greene’s Mansion.

Becca immediately saw her grandmother’s car parked on the other side of the road and saw her brother busy talking to the guard stationed in the guardhouse outside the gate. Thank goodness, the guard didn’t give her brother entry to the house.

"Is that your brother?" Deborah asked.

"Yup. Just stay here inside the vehicle. I will inform him that we are here to see him," Becca said, opening the door.

"I will come with you," Deborah said, grabbing her shoulder bag.

"No, you should stay here. You are carrying a gun with you. It’s dangerous!" Becca argued.

"Nonsense, the gun is in my bag. The guard won’t see it unless I take it out," Deborah said casually, getting out of the vehicle.

Becca released a deep sigh. Her anxiety shot through the roof as she kept looking at Deborah’s shoulder bag.

The two women left the vehicle heading for Alpha Maxwell’s location. The driver followed them.

When they reached the guardhouse, Becca quickly announced their presence. "Brother, we’re here!"

Stunned, Alpha Maxwell looked over his shoulder and saw his sister, Deborah and her driver. He groaned, his chest coiled with tension. "Girls, what are you doing here?" he asked, annoyed. He was surprised they came here. Did his annoying brat sister lead Deborah here?

"Who are you people? What do you want?" the guard asked, inspecting their faces.

Deborah latches onto Alpha Maxwell’s arms. "I’m his wife, guard. Please tell Naomi that I am Alpha Maxwell’s original wife and she is just a mistress!" she said smugly, pressing her body to him, making sure the guard saw her public display of affection.

"Don’t touch me." Alpha Maxwell quickly removes Debora’s hands and distances himself from her.

Pissed by his coldness, Deborah’s eyes darkened in anger. "Guard, please inform Naomi to come out so I can talk to her in person. Or how about you open the gate so I can see her?" she suggested.

The guard shook his head. "I’m sorry ma’am. Naomi’s father told me not to open the gate. You are not allowed to enter the mansion and see his daughter. You are not welcome here. This is private property. Everyone please leave now or I’ll call the cops." He gave them a warning.

Deborah looked up at the second floor of the house. "Naomiiii! Come out of the house! Let’s talk!" she shouted at the top of her lungs.

Alpha Maxwell glared at Deborah. "Stop shouting! You are attracting attention. You shouldn’t be here! Go home!" he snapped at her.

Deborah ignored him. "Naomiiii, come out and face me! Let’s talk! Let’s settle this problem between us once and for all!" she shouted shamelessly, not caring if the neighbors might hear her.

Alpha Maxwell groaned in annoyance. He looked at his sister. "Why did you bring Deborah here?" He asked angrily.

"No, you are wrong. I didn’t bring Deborah here. She insisted on coming by herself and I only accompanied her because I was worried about what she was going to do. She was carrying a real gun inside her shoulder bag," Becca whispered nervously. "Brother, let’s go now before Deborah shoots someone with the gun!"

Stunned, Alpha Maxwell looked at Deborah. Raw disdain flashed on his face, his heart beating faster in his rib cage.

Oh, no! This is not good!

Deborah has been mentally and emotionally unstable lately. She might accidentally hurt somebody today.

She was a tragedy waiting to happen. Since his desire to see Naomi didn’t end well because her parents would never allow him to enter the house, it’s better to leave and go home.

He grabbed Deborah’s arms and urgently said, "Let’s go!"
