Captive By Desire, A Love We Can't Deny
Chapter 57: Give Me A Break!
CHAPTER 57: GIVE ME A BREAK!
Deborah kept her mouth shut for the rest of the trip back to the Burke family mansion.
When they arrived home safely and saw Alpha Maxwell with Deborah everyone sighed with relief.
"What happened son?" Luna Adela asked him. He looked worn out and tired.
"Deborah and Becca arrived to Naomi’s house. I failed to talk to Naomi because her parents didn’t let her come outside the gate and see me," he said sadly. "I’m going to my room to rest. I’m in a bad mood today, I hope no one will disturb me," he said and walked to the staircase.
Luna Adela watched her son climb the stairs with his shoulder slumped, looking defeated.
Deborah was about to come after him, but Luna Adela stopped her.
"I don’t think going after him is a good idea. Why don’t you go to your room and be with your son? He is currently sleeping in your room with the nanny. Please leave my son alone for a moment. Just talk to him after he has had his rest, okay?" Luna Adela said in a pleading tone.
Deborah smiled. "Yes, of course, Mom. I’ll go to my room now to be with my son. Don’t worry I will not disturb your son’s rest," she replied calmly and proceeded to the stairs, heading to her room.
Luna Adela looked at Becca. "What happened out there?" She inquired.
"Where is Dad?" Becca asked in a whisper.
Luna Adela replied, "He is in his study room. Why?"
"When we were in Deborah’s car, I saw a gun in her shoulder bag! She wanted to see Naomi and scare her using her gun. I was scared shit the whole time we were there. Good thing Naomi didn’t leave the house to see my brother or else Deborah might be tempted to put a bullet in Naomi’s head and she will go to jail for murder!" Becca explained the whole incident in a terrified tone.
"Holy cow!" Luna Adela’s eyes widened, terrified after hearing everything. "How could she be so dumb? She’s not using her brain anymore! Where did she get the gun? You mean the gun is still in her bag right now?"
"Yes, Mom. I wanted to talk to her about returning the gun to her house because it’s dangerous for her to carry a deadly weapon. But I don’t know how to tell her without worsening her temper. She has been always in a foul mood ever since my brother came home. She’s like a lunatic that escaped from the asylum." Becca shook her head in absolute horror at what could have happened if Naomi left the house to see them.
Luan Adela breathed deeply. "She’s not been like this before. Her jealousy and anger towards Naomi is making her crazy. Sometimes I pity her but sometimes I don’t like the way she handles her problems. She’s always overacted. I still remember how she carelessly dangled baby Zed outside the window. One false move, she could kill her son in an instant, scaring the hell out of me," she said, shaking her head in horror.
"Yeah, she is mentally unstable now because of what happened to her relationship with my brother. What can we do to end all this, Mom?" Becca asked sadly.
"Let’s continue to convince your brother to marry Deborah. It is the only way to fix this mess," Luna Adela said in a determined tone.
"I agree with your suggestion, Mom. If we kept convincing my brother to marry Deborah, he would eventually cave in. Then peace will finally return to our lives just like before," Becca said wistfully.
"I’m going to the study room to inform your father that you are all back home safe," Luna Adela said.
"OK. I’m going to the kitchen to get some chocolate coffee and cookies. I need comfort food after subjecting myself to a very stressful situation earlier," Becca said.
The two women went their separate ways, Becca to the kitchen and Luna Adela to the study room to talk to her husband.
Upstairs, Alpha Maxwell can be seen lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling in deep thoughts.
Deborah on the other hand, can be seen bonding with her already wide awake son on the bed, kissing his chubby cheeks.
She smirked. "They really think I will throw you out the window. They are stupid to believe my tactics. I just did it to scare your father so he would marry me," she said with a shaky laugh. "I’m doing this for you, my beloved son. I don’t want you to grow up in a broken family. I want a happy family with your father. Can you blame me?"
Then fresh tears sprang from her eyes and she started crying while still talking to her son, pouring her heart out.
Meanwhile...
Back at the Greene family mansion, Luna Alicia felt relieved that the noisy visitors had already left.
"The Burke family are indeed crazy people," Alpha Thomas Greene growls irritably. "I don’t want any members of my family associated with them. They are low-class people!" he said, gnashing his teeth in anger.
"Indeed, they love attracting trouble and attention wherever they go," Luna Alicia said, agreeing with her husband.
Alpha Thomas looks at his daughter. She was silently listening to their conversation. "Naomi, did you see it? Alpha Maxwell has a lover and they also have a son together. In the CCTV footage, you have seen how that woman latches on to him, marking her territory, and you are still begging me to open the gate so you can see him and talk to him. Are you out of your mind? He is taken and you know it. That woman looks possessive, deranged and uneducated, with no class at all. She shouted your name like a lunatic, ordering you to see her like you were her servants. Is that the type of people you want to be associated with?"
Naomi bit her lower lip, sad that she was not able to go to the gate and talk to Alpha Maxwell even for a few seconds. She wanted to see him again. She missed him terribly but her father wouldn’t let her out of the house. The servants even locked all the entrances and exits to the house.
They ganged up on her and she was powerless to do anything against them.
It’s over now. She and Alpha Maxwell can never be reunited again. The world they enjoyed in the windowless room was peaceful and filled with happiness. Now her life is full of misery. No more happiness in sight!
"Why are you not saying anything daughter? What can you say after all the mess your lover and his entourage have done today?" Alpha Thomas asked.
"I no longer care what happens outside, Dad. All I’m asking of you is not to lock me in my room. I feel like I’m a prisoner in my own house. What if our house caught fire or there was a strong earthquake? How can I escape?" She argued, giving them a valid reason to think about.
"I hear you daughter, but you must promise me not to escape the house or I will get really mad at you and I will imprison you in the basement. Do you understand?" He said, glaring at her.
"Copy, Dad," she responded in a dispirited tone.
"Your wedding to Edison will take place this Sunday. The officiating minister will come to conduct the wedding. This is just a family affair. Edison’s entire family will come here to attend the wedding. Aren’t you going to request a wedding dress or anything in particular?" he asked. "If you have any requests, tell us now so your mother can arrange them for you."
"I don’t care about the wedding. Do what you think is best. It’s not what I really wanted for myself anyway. I’m just obeying your order, Dad. I have no right to object," she responded miserably.
Alpha Thomas’ face darkened with her sarcastic reply. "It’s your wedding we are talking about here, you don’t care at all?" he asked, annoyed that she was trying to guilt-trip him for making such an important decision in her life.
Naomi took a deep breath. Right now her spirit was broken and she was too tired to have a verbal fight with her father. He will never listen to her, he will always win. "Dad, I’m tired. Can I go back to my room now?" she asked for permission.
Alpha Nelson nodded his head. "OK. You may go back to your room."
Naomi left the living room and went to her room on the second floor. She quickly went to the window and scanned the surrounding area. She saw a drone earlier hovering in the air before Alpha Maxwell arrived outside the gate of their mansion.
She was curious why there was a drone hovering above the trees.
Ah, maybe one of their neighbors was playing with their drone for fun.
She left the window and went to the bed and lay down, thinking about Alpha Maxwell. They were so close to seeing each other earlier. Sigh. She can only shake her head in utter frustration and sadness.
She glanced at the window. It would be nice if she had wings, she could fly in the sky and see Alpha Maxwell anytime she wishes. Tears filled her eyes.
She missed her phone. She missed looking at her son’s photos and videos.
Suddenly, she heard a buzzing sound near the window. She sat upright and was about to leave the bed to see where that sound came from. But before she could make any movement, she saw a drone enter the window and land on the floor. There was a brown pouch bag attached to the drone.
She quickly removed the brown pouch and checked the contents which consisted of a new phone, a short letter from Zero and her marriage certificate with Alpha Maxwell. A bright smile erupted on her face. There is still hope!
Awesome! She got a new phone! Her heart leapt with joy.
She picked up the drone and watched it fly away, back to the person who controls it.
