Captive By Desire, A Love We Can't Deny
Chapter 60: Stirring Trouble
CHAPTER 60: STIRRING TROUBLE
Alpha Maxwell left the bed and walked to the door and opened it. "What the hell are you doing? Why knock so loud you wake up the whole house?" he scolded her.
Deborah ignored his scolding. "Time for you to go back to our room. You have been chatting with her for so long already. You are acting like you are a single guy. You don’t have a family? How dare you?" She hissed in a controlled voice.
Alpha Maxwell groaned. "Shut up! Go back to our son or go back to your room? Which is it?"
Deborah gnashed her teeth in anger. "I hate you for insulting me like this! We are sleeping in your room yet you are here chatting with another woman? You are a cheater!" she yelled into his face, crying silently, tears rolling down her face.
He was pissed that she came and destroyed his good mood. "Leave me alone!" He quickly shut the door on her face. He waited for Deborah to start knocking on the door like crazy but she didn’t. He released a sigh of relief.
He went back to bed, turned off the light and lay down on the bed ready to sleep.
He can’t do anything today but one day, he will take back control of his life. To dispel the bad mood and help him fall asleep quickly, he imagined Naomi and baby Jacob lying beside him on the bed. He hugged the pillow, imagining it was Naomi. His tense body gradually loosened up, installing peace back into his turbulent mind.
Outside the door...
Deborah was pacing back and forth on the floor. She was furious that he closed the door on her face and refused to return to his room. He might still be chatting with his mistress right now! The thoughts irked her further.
She was about to knock again but the door to Grandma’s room opened. The old hag was coming towards her. She prepared for her scolding.
"Deborah, why are you still wide awake? You can’t sleep? Where is baby Zed?" Grandma asked.
"Alpha Maxwell was inside the room, chatting with his mistress. I’m pissed that he won’t stop chatting with her and return to our room. So I came here to order him to stop chatting with that woman and go to sleep with me in our room," she explained from her side, hoping the old hag would favor her.
Grandma breathes deeply. "If he doesn’t want to sleep with you, don’t force him. He is a stubborn guy just like you. You will end up fighting each other every single day of your married life. If you keep doing this, you will never have his love again. You are only pushing him away with your obsessive jealousy and controlling nature. You are waking everyone up. Give us a break! Now go back to his room, quick!" She ordered.
"Yes, Grandma." Deborah was furious that the old hag had ignored her feelings. But she couldn’t do anything against her. She turned round and returned to the room, annoyed that she had failed to bring back Alpha Maxwell into the room with her.
She entered the room furiously, went to the bed and checked on her son. She finally turned off the light and lay on the bed beside her son, forcing herself to sleep.
Outside the room...
Grandma stayed in the hallway for ten minutes, making sure Deborah would no longer leave the room and harass her grandson. She needs to put some good manners in that girl’s head or else she might do something stupid, hurting her family members due to her impulsiveness.
After a few minutes of waiting and hearing no movements from the room, she finally left the hallway and returned to her room to resume her sleep.
The following day.
Everyone from the Burke family woke up well rested and energized including Alpha Maxwell.
He returned to his room and saw Deborah and baby Zed still sleeping soundly on the bed. He walked slowly around the room, careful not to wake them up. He took all his clothes and put them in a bag. From now on he will sleep in the guest room and Deborah can have his room.
After getting all his stuff inside the bag, he left the room quietly, returned to the guest room and arranged his things in the closet, then put his toiletries in the bathroom and settled comfortably in his new room.
He unlocked his phone and sent Naomi a nice good morning greeting along with sweet emoji kisses and hugs.
Half an hour later, he went downstairs for his morning coffee.
Two hours later, breakfast was held in the dining room. The entire family took their seats including Deborah. The maid took care of baby Zed in the living room. After some pleasantries they ate their meals in silence.
After breakfast was over, Alpha Nelson announced, "We shall continue our lively discussion in the living room to discuss the upcoming wedding of Deborah and Alpha Maxwell."
Deborah grinned happily.
The expression on Alpha Maxwell’s face was pure boredom and indifference.
They left the dining room and settled in the living room.
Alpha Maxwell took baby Zed from the maid and cradled him in his arms. He was busy bonding with his son in the corner and at the same time, listening to the chatter of the women discussing their wedding outfits and the dishes on the wedding menu. The men were talking about security around the mansion. He heard that they were hiring a wedding planner and event coordinator to transform the backyard into a spectacular garden wedding venue. They will also hire the best catering restaurant in the city to provide delicious food for the occasion.
Deborah’s family and relatives will attend the wedding. It will be a happy occasion and the Burke family is determined to make the event a successful and memorable one.
It will be a happy occasion and everyone will celebrate it.
Alpha Maxwell sighed heavily. Does he have the heart and conscience to destroy a beautiful event and plunge his family into shame? The two families will be devastated if he makes a catastrophic scene on that special day, ruining their family’s image in the business world.
His mind and heart were debating what was the best thing to do. Would he destroy the wedding or let the happy occasion finish its course without any intervention on his part?
While evaluating his choices and planning his next move, Grandma sat beside him. "My boy, are you okay? Why are you silent?" she asked, always worrying about his mental health.
Alpha Maxwell smiled. "I’m bonding with my son, Grams. Please stop worrying about me. I’m already a grown up adult. I can fight my own battles. And I know exactly what to do with my life," he said reassuringly.
Grandma breathed deeply. "You heard them right? They are planning your wedding and they didn’t even ask for your suggestion. They want you to just be there and follow their orders. How about you? What do you really feel right now?"
"I feel nothing. I mean, let them plan the wedding. Let them enjoy the process," he shrugged indifferently as if telling everyone he stopped caring anymore.
Grandma raised a brow because she heard a tone of resignation in his voice. "You are now willing to cooperate with the wedding? Are you not going to make any plans to disrupt the happy occasion? Are you sure?" she asked in disbelief.
Alpha Maxwell nodded his head. "They will be inviting important visitors and relatives right? It’s not a wise idea to destroy a special occasion. Making a scene during the wedding will only tarnish our image in the business world and we will be the laughing stock of the entire business community community. So don’t worry, I will not put my family’s name to shame. I will behave in the best manner," he assured her, his eyes gleaming.
"Who are you trying to deceive, my boy? Yourself or me?" Grandma asked.
Alpha Maxwell sighed wearily. "No one. All these bad things shall pass one day. I would rather focus on the days after the wedding. I can finally reclaim my life back. Right?" he said.
Grandma smiled, then replied. "Ah, I see... are you going to do it the safest way? You will divorce Deborah after a few months?" she asked in a low voice making sure no one heard her voice.
Alpha Maxwell grinned. "I realized that after the wedding I could finally do so many things to turn my life around and gain many things to my advantage. After all, marriage is just a piece of paper. So I will just let the wedding happen without doing anything about it. Everyone will be happy, right?
"Ah, okay. I got it." Grandma finally smiled brightly, seeing a much clearer vision of his plan.
Alpha Maxwell continues bonding with his son, showering his cheeks, arms and feet with kisses.
Out of the corner of her eyes, Deborah saw the animated conversation happening between the old hag and her favorite grandson. She saw them smiling. Are they conspiring, planning on making a scene on the day of the wedding, and destroying the happy occasion?
They must be!
She can’t take it anymore. She stood up and walked towards the unsuspecting duo, eager to hear what they were talking about. "What are you whispering at guys?" she asked suspiciously, intruding on their privacy.
Grandma looked at her, surprised that Deborah was already standing behind them unannounced. "Dear, what do you mean?" she asked innocently.
"We are busy planning our wedding and you guys are talking about something funny. Can you please share with us your jokes?" Deborah asked, wanting to know what they were planning.
Alpha Maxwell’s jaw clenched. Deborah is acting up again, destroying a peaceful morning by stirring up trouble again.
