CHAPTER 552: +CHAPTER 552+

Angelo straightened up to look over Nikolai’s shoulders, their new company didn’t seem friendly.

"You don’t happen to have a grenade in your coat, do you?" He looked up at Nikolai.

"I remember someone saying that was dangerous," Nikolai said dryly, starting to wish that he had done just that.

He reluctantly rose to his feet, taking Angelo with him. They stood face to face, but Nikolai’s attention was on the ground, precisely on Angelo’s feet.

"You’re not wearing shoes," He noted with a frown.

Angelo was already pulling away from his hold, the Omega went over to his dead father without a change in expression and pulled out both daggers still embedded in his body.

"I’ll live," He muttered, taking Nikolai’s wrist and pulling him into a different room.

There were stained and broken cabinets in the empty room, showing that it used to be a kitchen. Not caring about the messy floor, regardless of Nikolai’s disapproval, he kept up the pace till they got to the back door in the kitchen.

The High Council’s men would no doubt surround the building, so they would run into them sooner rather than later, but it was better than being trapped in the rundown apartment.

Asher had gotten the answers he was looking for as soon as they pulled into the parking lot of Nikolai’s casino, the other seemed to have predicted that they would show up.

So there was already someone walking over as soon as their car came to a stop.

"The boss is there already, and some of his men should be at the location anytime soon." The messenger reported.

Asher didn’t stop to ask what the hell was going on at the location he was given. He would get his answers from Nikolai, then he could thank the other for the trouble with a right hook.

Before they could even drive out of the parking lot, Asher and Davian got started on alerting their men. They were closer to the location anyway, so they could offer support before the two Mafia Kings arrived on scene.

Just as they got to the end of the street, a powerful explosion rocked the casino behind them.

Despite their windows being blacked out, the blast was so intense that it still reflected off the faces of the people in the car.

Jael just swerved around without a go-ahead from the Alphas in the backseat, this was clearly the High Council’s doing.

Nikolai had built his casino from the ground up, and there was no reason for the Mafia King to blow it up.

He wasn’t stopped, and he knew they were both thinking along the same lines he was, the High Council had definitely situated men to take out those who didn’t die in the blast.

They planned to completely annihilate Nikolai, their moves were brutal, destructive.

The blast had taken out a good half of the massive building, casualties were inevitable.

The parking lot was soon swarmed in no time, people running out of the burning building, coughing and spitting from the black smoke, most injured.

Jael parked right on the street, they wouldn’t be staying here for long, just to provide a bit of support firepower.

Asher was already out of the car before the engine stopped, and as Jael watched his Mafia King charge through the panicked crowd and billowing smoke, he mentally got started on making up an explanation for his boss’ missus for why he brought him back injured.

"I’ll keep an eye on Asher," Davian’s low voice came from the back seat. "Stay here and make sure no one tries to end what they started."

Jael had already palmed his guns, his opinion of Nikolai was pretty high, he respected the Mafia King’s abilities, but this was just plain bullying from the High Council. Not to mention, reneging on their signed agreement.

It didn’t take long for an unmarked car to pull up, the people fleeing the casino were scattering in all directions, at least the ones who were still mobile.

Jael had already called in emergency services, there would be a bloodbath, but it wouldn’t be a complete evisceration of the casino and everyone unlucky to be in it.

He was already firing off rounds as soon as the car approached, making it swerve off the road and into a light pole.

He knew that wasn’t going to keep them down, so he slowly approached the smoking car, reloading as he did.

Jael’s opinion of the High Council was already in hell, but he never imagined they would stoop so low just for a claim of power.

Nikolai’s men were less than five percent of the population in the casino, they had just blown up innocent people, and then sent men as double reassurance to take out the stragglers.

It would explain why there was only a single car with four armed men inside, all dazed from the crash. If they were to be fighting Nikolai’s men, the High Council wouldn’t have only sent four men.

This was targeted at the civilians in the casino, it would have been a massacre if they hadn’t happened to be here at the right time.

If the explosion had happened even a few minutes later, they would have been too far away to realize how serious it was.

Jael smashed open the front side window, gunshots going off. He had no sympathy for the men, they had been about to spinelessly kill people fleeing for their lives.

Regardless of his call, the explosion seemed to have also attracted attention, so as he walked away from the still-smoking car, he could hear sirens in the distance.

Jael walked back to the car and looked at the burning mess of the casino, the rest of it that hadn’t been blown up was in flames, the fires burning hotter and hotter. By the time firefighters managed to put it out, it would all be charred rubble.

He didn’t wait much longer before Davian was striding back and pulling Asher behind him by his fur coat... well, what was left of his singed fur coat.
