Captive Mate BL
Chapter 560: + - 560+
CHAPTER 560: +CHAPTER 560+
"Lunch is ready," Rosie said as she got the dining table in the kitchen ready. The three of them usually just ate at the counter, but since they had more guests for lunch, she would put in the extra effort.
She turned towards the doors as they opened, expecting her boss and Mafia King to walk in, only to do a double-take at the sight of them.
Davian frowned slightly when Rosie took one look at him and hastily looked away, hiding a snicker in her palm. He reached up a hand to touch his hair, figuring out the situation right away.
His mate had left his short, drying hair sticking out in tufts, and he could imagine the comical picture he painted. He could easily straighten his hair out, but Lake’s and Rosie’s faces reddening from how hard they tried to keep their chuckles in was far nicer.
"Let me help you with that," He offered, going over to help Rosie.
The closer he came to her, the more she had a difficult time keeping her laughter in. Davian pretended not to see them both bent over in silent laughter, his anxieties completely eased by their presence.
After setting up the table, they just needed to wait for their guests. Davian doubted that the guests in question would be able to find their way to the kitchen, so he planned to go get them after a while.
He glanced at Lake and Rosie, who had tears in their eyes at that point; he doubted that either of them would be able to make the trip, and perhaps it was best that he stayed out of their sight for a bit.
Davian just silently walked out of the kitchen, a smile on his face. Lake had told him where Nikolai’s and Angelo’s rooms were, so he leisurely made his way there without fixing his ridiculous hairdo.
He most likely would have to fix it when he returned if he didn’t want his mate choking on his food, but he wanted to see his face flushed with laughter one more time.
Nikolai was stepping out of the door of his room when he got to their hallway. The Mafia King was dressed in a cozy cashmere sweater and slacks, it was unfamiliar to see him without a trench coat on.
"Came to get you for lunch," Davian said to the lifted brow Nikolai shot at him.
There was mirth in Nikolai’s cold blue eyes, but the Mafia King kept an impressive poker face on. "Thanks. I’ll get Angelo."
It wasn’t until Nikolai walked over to knock on the door next to his room that Davian realized that the other Alpha hadn’t been questioning his presence but his fantastic hairdo.
Nikolai had let Angelo decide on their rooms, and he was starting to wish he hadn’t. Separate rooms weren’t going to stop him from ending up in the assassin’s bed tonight, though.
He knocked patiently and waited for a response, which came shortly after, Angelo’s fluffy hair coming into view. He saw the assassin recognize him in real time, his pale green eyes brightening, pupils dilating.
"Time for lunch?" Angelo prompted when Nikolai said nothing, looking past the Alpha to see Davian waiting patiently on the side with a very eye-catching hairstyle.
"Yeah," Nikolai muttered, stepping back to let him leave his room.
Angelo was dressed in one of the sweaters Silvia got him and loose pants, and if it weren’t for the fact that he had yet to see her for himself, he would have fallen fast asleep after his deep clean.
It was the only thing keeping him strung up; the reality of all the changes that had happened would probably hit in a few days, but right then, he was very calm and relaxed.
He glanced at Nikolai to find the Mafia King staring at his hair with a familiar look in his eyes. He hadn’t left his hair down on purpose, he had just finished blow-drying it out when Nikolai’s knock came, but now he was glad he did.
Davian was in the lead, and he couldn’t help but he distracted by the Mafia King’s hair. Was he aware of it? It didn’t seem like Nikolai noticed it or even thought anything of it, so he decided to keep his thoughts to himself.
It was Angelo’s first time in the mansion, and it was more or less his new home, however temporary that was, so he focused on his surroundings, taking everything in.
"I’m sure Lake told you, but the mansion is open to you, and there’s always something to eat in the kitchen if you’re hungry," Davian said, bringing Angelo’s attention back to his silly hair.
Angelo hastily looked away, the contrast of Davian’s silly hair with the Alpha’s serious demeanor was a little too much. He didn’t even remember to be wary of him, struggling to keep his smile off his face.
Davian opened the doors to the kitchen; the Alpha’s adorable mate and the redhead that Angelo had caught a flash of earlier were at the dining table, their attention caught by their appearance, unwittingly settled on Davian.
Angelo felt a bit better about his hilarity when Lake and the redhaired Omega immediately dissolved into giggles.
Davian’s expression was indulgent as he finger-combed out the tufts in his hair, and although he wasn’t the one who prepared the meal, he instinctively took over the serving.
Angelo was grateful for lunch; he had thought that he and Nikolai would just grab something on their way to the hospital, and clearly Nikolai had thought the same.
The platter of pancakes on the table was so ironic that even though he didn’t have to, he reached for it first thing after everyone started eating.
"Let us know if you can’t make it back for dinner," Lake said kindly; the table was quiet, but it wasn’t uncomfortable, everyone eating in companionable silence.
Angelo looked up from his plate, curious about why that was needed.
"We’re having dinner at Caspian’s," Lake explained, glancing at his mate for confirmation. "I’m sure he’ll be happy to pack up your shares so you can eat whenever you get back from the hospital."
Angelo couldn’t hide his surprise; they really didn’t have to go through the trouble, it was just dinner.
"We will, thanks," Nikolai answered for them.
