Captive Mate BL
Chapter 562: + - 562+
CHAPTER 562: +CHAPTER 562+
Silvia was happy to gently pull him down to her bed, pulling him into one of the first hugs she had ever given him. Silvia held him a little too tightly despite her waning strength, desperation in every gesture.
Her helplessness when Angelo was taken that morning had hurt more than getting her knee shot out. She had worked hard to build the life she had, worked even harder to acquire power, and it hadn’t nearly been enough.
Silvia’s smile faded away as she felt Angelo trembling in her arms, he clung to her just as desperately, his familiar scent soothing. She didn’t pull away until he was well and ready, feeling his tears wet the neckline of the hospital gown she had on.
She looked across the room at Nikolai, who had tensed up, no doubt able to smell Angelo’s tears. She mouthed a ’thank you’ at the Mafia King. There was a lot she still needed to catch up with, but she knew without being told that Nikolai had to have sacrificed a lot to pull Angelo right out of the High Council’s grasp.
The first words Angelo said to her after he pulled away, pale green eyes glassy, were... "I killed him. He’s dead. Dead."
Silvia just wiped the tears clean off his face, acknowledging the death of the monster but not wanting to speak of him again, ever.
There was a quiet knock on the door then, one of the nurses from earlier poking her head in. "Sorry to cut things short, but the patient needs sleep."
The nurse didn’t have to put in effort to get rid of Silvia’s visitors because they were wary of doing anything that would hamper her recovery.
So despite Silvia’s insistence that she would be fine for half an hour more, Angelo pulled away, his eyes dry but brighter, and just as tired as everyone else’s in the room.
Even if Angelo had given in, Cain would no doubt have physically carried everyone out of the room just so that she could get some sleep.
"You should both go back to get some sleep," Cain said to them when they returned to the waiting room. "If we’re lucky, she might get discharged tomorrow."
Angelo didn’t back down, Nikolai had held his hand as soon as he went over to Alpha’s side, and he allowed it. "You need to rest more than we do," He shook his head, "We’ll keep watch while you go shower and eat something."He insisted, "Mafia King Davian opened his home to us, Silvia will be safe there."
Cain didn’t address the second half of Angelo’s sentence, knowing that it would be up to Silvia to make the final decision. He could certainly see her choosing to stay close to Angelo, however.
"I already got something to eat, and I couldn’t sleep even if I tried."
Angelo could relate to Cain’s words, he had no plans to leave unless Silvia was coming along with him.
So they both settled on waiting together, silence settling in the waiting room, nurses occasionally going by now and then.
It was clear that they had tried to infuse some life into the waiting room by making it colorful, but even color couldn’t add warmth to the sterile space. At least the chairs were comfortable, so it wasn’t a physically uncomfortable wait..
Angelo turned to Nikolai when the Mafia King sat down right beside him. He looked better than they did, but there was no missing the weariness in his dark blue eyes.
"You don’t have to stay," He spoke softly, sitting with barely any space between them. "Cain and I are fine to wait."
Nikolai’s eyes were patient; there were a lot of things he did need to do. He might be stepping back from his turf, but his men were still his. He had issued out brief orders, but there were things that still needed to be attended to in person.
"I don’t mind staying," He sank into the chair, the air between them lighter than it was on the car ride to the hospital.
Angelo didn’t push too hard, despite his words, he needed Nikolai to stay. He also settled in for the wait, Nikolai reaching for his braided hair catching his attention.
He didn’t say a word, even sitting up slightly so the Alpha could better access his hair, the familiar action grounding him. The slow passing of time in the waiting room was such a sharp contrast to how chaotic the earlier parts of their day had been.
Angelo didn’t plan to fall asleep but when he woke up he was practically lying against Nikolai’s chest, his hair in his mouth and the Alpha’s arms around him.
He was disoriented for a bit when he woke up, the blanket that had been thrown over him sometime while he slept slipping off slightly.
The first thing he saw after waking up was Lake’s gentle smile and for a moment he thought he was dreaming because why would Mafia King Davian’s pregnant mate be at the hospital.
"I’m sorry if we woke you up," Lake’s familiar voice shook that notion out of his head.
Angelo sat up and pushed his hair out of his face to better see, shortly comprehending the situation.
It wasn’t just the Mafia King’s mate that was at the hospital, but Mafia King Davian himself and the bubbly, redhaired Omega from lunch.
"We brought you dinner," Lake repeated himself for Angelo’s sake.
"And ice cream!" Rosie chimed in.
Angelo was still confused despite comprehending the situation, because why would they go out of their way to bring them dinner?
"Caspian was sad you all couldn’t make it for dinner," Lake kept the conversation going, letting his husband guide him to one of the comfortable chairs so he could go ahead and sort out the food.
"He wished he could come pay Silvia a visit himself and wishes her a speedy recovery..."
Angelo listened as the conversations bubbled around him, feeling a bit bewildered. "Thank you," He murmured.
He had slept longer than he thought and he hadn’t even planned to sleep at all, yet he had been out like a light after a few hours of waiting.
