CHAPTER 565: +CHAPTER 565+

Nikolai couldn’t be happier with the response he got from Angelo, wisely shutting up about the matter before he somehow managed to convince the other.

"Anything you want to do?" He asked, leading the way to the car.

Angelo stretched out and then followed after him, "Shower and sleep," He muttered, getting in the car. "Is there something you need to do?"

"A few things," Nikolai responded vaguely, he would also shower, but he needed to step out of the mansion for a bit.

"Do you want me to come along?" Angelo asked carefully.

"I just need to tie up some loose ends."

"Is this about your casino?" He probed lightly.

Nikolai had no intentions to hide things from Angelo, so he easily gave in, "Partly. The base of operations has been moved to Davian’s turf, so there are a lot of minor changes to be made..."

Angelo listened to Nikolai’s explanation as they drove back to the Black’s mansion. He learned quite a lot about Nikolai’s turf, relieved by what he learned.

Nikolai’s turf was quite unorthodox; his casino was really the only physical representation of his turf, and the High Council no doubt knew this, which was why they targeted it.

But in backing away from his title, he had relinquished his influence over his turf, which the High Council would no doubt swoop in to take. His influence downtown would remain untouched, however, and the High Council couldn’t touch the common folks unaffiliated with the Mafia who lived on his turf.

It wouldn’t affect anything either if they chose to switch sides, although he doubted they would. Haines drew in people from all walks of life, save for those born in the city, all the others who chose to settle there did it because they didn’t want to be a part of Packs.

The chance that they would turn around and side with the High Council, who fully intended to convert the city to one that consisted of Packs or a single Pack, was incredibly slim, bordering on nonexistent.

The mansion was empty when they returned, but as they made a move to head to their room, the bubbly redhead made an appearance.

"Hi," Rosie waved, coming down the stairs. "You’re back earlier than I expected," She said, noting that it was just the two of them.

"Silvia isn’t going to be staying at the mansion," Angelo made sure to mention, knowing that her presence was expected. "She was discharged this morning."

"How long is her recovery time?" Rosie asked, genuine concern in her voice.

"A few weeks at least," Angelo replied, conversation coming easy.

"Davian and Lake are out, they made me stay back for when you returned," Rosie explained shortly, stopping in front of them. "Davian made breakfast. I’ll heat it up for you two."

"Thank you," Nikolai spoke up.

"It’s no problem," Rosie waved off, "You both look like you need more sleep, I’ll be out of the mansion after heating up the food. If you need anything, the men outside will be more than happy to get it for you, or you could just call me."

After briefing them, she made her way back up the stairs to make good her word.

Angelo watched her leave, he didn’t think he would get used to how easily they had been adapted into the Black Mafia House anytime soon.

"You’ll eat before you leave, won’t you?" Angelo asked, starting for his room.

"Sure."

Despite Rosie’s words, she didn’t leave until they showed up at the kitchen, where she had already prepared two spots at the dining table for them.

"You don’t have to do that," Nikolai stepped forward to take the silver cutlery from her.

Rosie pushed her hair out of her face, "I don’t mind," She said with a smile, but she backed away, "We’ll probably be back for lunch, Davian likes to be the one to cook lunch for Lake."

It was just late in the morning, and although Rosie could probably wait till lunch, she missed working with her boss, and she couldn’t wait to head over to the company.

Angelo watched the redhead leave; the first time he had met her, he had barely paid attention to her, and she had done the same, too busy stuffing her face.

Rosie seemed really nice, and she hadn’t batted an eye at how different he looked for an Omega.

Lunch was a quick affair, Angelo walking Nikolai out the front doors. He lingered in the doorway as the Mafia King headed down the stairs, "Buy me something sweet on your way back," He blurted out without much thought.

Nikolai turned around at his words, a rare smile on his face. "Sure."

Angelo ducked behind the doors, hastily closing them. He might have gotten a little too used to Silvia buying him treats whenever she went out.

He placed his hands on his face to cool down as he made his way back to his room. He stopped at Nikolai’s room first, curious. He had seen into the room before, and it was much like his, but it didn’t stop him from stepping in.

It looked nothing like the Alpha’s room back at his penthouse, he wondered if he would be able to sleep in it.

Angelo walked over to the curtains to push them open, letting the late morning sunlight in. The windows in Nikolai’s former room hadn’t had curtains at all, he studied the high, ornate curtains, wondering if it was even possible to take them down.

It was only him in the entire mansion, but perhaps because he was in a room, it didn’t feel as lonely. Now that he was clean and full, he was no longer sleepy, bright-eyed as he aimlessly wandered around Nikolai’s room.

He ended up on the Mafia King’s bed, starting to wonder if he should have insisted on tagging along with Nikolai. It wasn’t as bad as when Nikolai no longer held him captive or when he was temporarily staying with Silvia, he just found himself wondering what he would do with himself for the next few hours until lunch.
